Flexi is sexy

Honestly, I love everything about my Flex! I've been the proud owner of my flex since it was just 2 years, used. I have the 2009, Ford Flex Limited AWD with towing package, and panoramic sunroof. The AWD handles like a dream, towing capabilities are better feeling than when I had both of my Explorers, mini van and truck. You honestly can't tell you're towing anything behind you, that's how well the centre of gravity, and sway system is on this car! I've hauled quite a few campers, toy haulers, and smaller trailers. All with ease. The sound system is as close as you can get to aftermarket sound. Holy, talk about feeling like being right inside a concert hall. The ambient lighting is a nice touch, and the DVD player came with dual wireless headsets. On long travels, the kids could even plug in their Playstation, if watching a movie wasn't entertaining enough. The comfort. Now this is huge for me. I have the 7 seater. I've sat in every seat inside this car and have zero complaints for leg room, and the all leather seats are VERY comfortable. Another favorite feature of course, is the heated seats and individual climate cabin control for each person. I've also bought a car mattress, for those nights I didn't feel like hauling out a camper, or setting up a tent. The seats all fold and tuck evenly away, to ensure an even base to lay on. The panoramic sunroof has given me some amazing shows of meteor showers over the years, without all the mosquito bites. Ironically, as I write this, we just finished packing Flexi for tonight's trip to watch the Perseid meteor shower... We have to travel at least an hour out, to get dark enough skies to view. Handling, and control in all types of weather is flawless. The only adjustment made to this car was buying wind and rain deflectors for the windows. Without those, traveling over 50 km/hrs with your windows open caused a "woomp woomp woomp" sound inside the cabin. Buying the deflectors got rid of that. Overall, I give Flexi 5 stars. She's been the greatest vehicle I have ever owned thus far, and I've had many types of vehicles over the years. Saddened to know Ford discontinued the Flex line up. If you can get your hands on a Flex, do so. I promise you'll fall in love. Just like I did.

Disappointed

After a year of Flex ownership, it's not quite the vehicle I expected in quality. I am having front brake issues (severe grinding) which I understand is common with this vehicle. Plastic interior trim pieces falling off. Exterior plastic pillar piece coming off - it's attached with double sided tape. And the gas mileage rarely gets above 21 mpg on the highway. Don't get duped by the advertised 24 mpg.

Fantastic Alaskan SUV

I have had this vehicle a couple of months now and have really enjoyed owning it. I previously had a Ford Freestlye and it seems the 3rd row leg room was a bit more than my new Flex. This is not an issue for the 6 passenger Ford Flex due to the 2nd row seats slide forward. The 7 seat configuration does not allow the 2nd row to move forward. Transmission shifted roughly in low gears. Buying a K&N Airfilter fixed that problem and now have smooth shifting with no problem. I think Ford should include a K&N Airfilter from the start to avoid the rough shifting transmission I experienced with my new Flex. I live in Alaska and the AWD system has been flawless in the snow and ice!

Ford Flex Review

We love the look. We love the room in 1st and 2nd seat, but the back is small for legroom. Very good storage. Gas mileage isn't as good as we would of liked. The worst thing about this car is the brake noise. After having it 3 months the brakes started growling when used. It got worse and worse. We've had it in the shop 3 times. They said they fixed it but got it home and after 2 days, growling con't. Dealer said nothing else they can do because Ford doesn't know what to do. 2 other Flex's from this dealer came in with the same problem. One other problem is the neck rests. They do go ahead too far. We wouldn't get this car again unless brakes were good. Now we're stuck.

Caliper problems

I purchased this vehicle used from our local dealership. It had 24,701 miles on it. The second day of ownership, I came out of this driveway, a terrible squealing sound happened. I stopped and backed up as I thought I ran over a branch, and went ahead again. The car squealed off an on the rest of my route. I thought it was my brakes but service said they were perfectly fine. It still squealed but now I have a burning smell. Took it back and service said the left rear caliper was locking up and replaced it. Brought it back home parked it in the garage got out and smelled the burning smell again and the wheel was too hot to touch. Service has it again. Not happy.
