Spacious Interior, Smooth Ride, Incredible Resale!

My 2008 Benz C300 which was bought new had horrible resale, losing more than 60% of its value after four years of ownership. After spotting a $10,000-off ad in the newspaper for a brand-new 2012 Ford F-150 XLT 4x4, I walked in the dealership and bought it on the spot, getting rid of my Benz in the meantime. That dealership had plenty of used F-150's that were a few years older and priced higher than the brand-new one I had my eyes on. Four years later, I traded it in for a brand-new 2016 Ford F-150 XLT 4x4 and learned my 2012 lost only 20% of its value. The initial $10,000 discount helped and my 2016 was also discounted by $10,000 which will also help with the resale. Between the new 2008 Benz and new 2012 F-150, the difference was about $15,000 after four years. The impressive resale was sufficient enough for me to not consider a different brand. The 2016 F-150 was all-new compared to the 2012 with more safety features and had Sync3 which allowed me to plug in my cellphone and my phone's screen automatically went over to the 8-inch touch screen on the dashboard. I no longer had to fumble with my phone. My 2016 does not have the optional navigation but it is moot when my phone's Google Maps work on the touch screen. Waze just started working so that means it can keep me updated to any problems ahead of the road. I would not get that with the optional navigation system. The interior is spacious, and I have the optional plugs where I can plug in appliances using 110v AC. There are also places to plug in USB. The optional center console has plenty of storage space and there are two cupholders for the back seats, two for the front seats, and there's plenty of space for me to put in my phone and everything else out of my pockets. The shifter is on the column so without the console gear selector, there's even more space. The V-8 is smooth with plenty of power. The gas mileage is not too bad, I've been averaging at 22 mpg on the highway at 65 mph and the overall average with about 60% city driving is around 18 mpg. Since I drive less than 4,000 miles a year, I did not want the more expensive EcoBoost engine. The 4x4 is a very capable system, I have driven it on muddy roads in Mexico when it started pouring like crazy and the F-150 handled it like a champ. The trailer assist is very convenient! It was an option I did not want but it was the one with the $10,000 discount, but I am glad it came with it! I can use the knob to steer my truck while backing up with a trailer which can be quite confusing for some. I'm not that good with a trailer but the trailer assist makes me a pro! It now has 8,000 miles and I have never had any problems. My 2012 had 39,000 miles without any problems whatsoever and I don't expect my 2016 to be any different.

Gas mileage should not be a point of contention when purchasing a truck, but, with that being said, the 2016 F-150 5.0 v8 does actually get decent gas mileage for a truck. It's fast as well. The aluminum body plus the 385 hp makes the truck seem very light and quick. Very spacious inside. High quality interior design and materials. No other truck on the market looks as good or feels as good as the interior of the 2016 F-150. With two 120V power outlets, usb ports, and bluetooth, I give the entertainment system a full 5 star rating. I have had this truck for over a year now and have looked and looked for something to complain about and I have yet to find a single thing. Ford knows what they are doing. There are many reasons why the Ford F-150 has been the best selling vehicle in America for the past 40 years, and each year that list grows longer and longer.

Midsize to Fullsize - No comparison

Fullsize Again, 06/26/2017
2016 Ford F-150 Lariat 4dr SuperCrew 4WD 6.5 ft. SB (5.0L 8cyl 6A)

Had a 2015 GMC SLT 3.5L V6 Canyon. I like the GMC Canyon. As my daily driver it was a very good vehicle that averaged 19-20 mpg overall in 50/50 driving. Debated endlessly buying when lease was coming up, but didn't because the width of the interior and rear seat legroom just wasn't quite enough for me. Found a new 2016 SCrew Lariat still on lot and negotiated approx. $15,000 off sticker and upgraded to full-size. I love the size, power (faster zero to 60 and 17-18 mpg in same driving), and refinement of the F-150. There is no comparison for a raspy V6 and throaty V8. : - ) Will you drive with adults in the vehicle occasionally? Although the mid-size pickup works, every time I had 4 adults (nearly grown kids count) in the vehicle I would need to adjust seats to allow everyone to be comfortable (AKA everyone sacrifice room the same). If you had 5 guys it started reminding me of a sideshow at the circus. This F-150 Crew Cab is ridiculously comfortable for 4 and even 5 adults. At the end of the day I am exactly what mid-size pickups are marketed to. I am not overly big at 6-ft tall and 200lbs. I bike, run, and generally love the outdoors. I don't need a full-size pickup. But comparing price, features, interior size, MPG, and innovation, the full-size pickups are where the R&D money is spent. The mid-size pickups don't have the interior room of most mid-size cars. <<--- this is extremely important to note. I am not sure when you compare specs how the minor differences of interior dimensions end up being so important, but they are. Parking the vehicle is a minor annoyance, but mid-size isn't just easy in some parking lots. Finally, on the price. The difference can be completely negligible under the right circumstances. There are 10 times as many full-size pickups as mid-size across all manufacturers. Much more competitive industry for Ford, GM, Dodge and consumers win the game if you are patient.

2016 Ford F-150 Limited 4dr SuperCrew 4WD 5.5 ft. SB (3.5L 6cyl Turbo 6A)

Mine is a Lariat 5.5 crew with 3.5 ecoboost. Oddly not on the trim list?? It's equipped like a Limited and I ordered for towing. FX4; max tailer; and big telescoping folding mirrors. Not a boulavard girly pickup, but nice platinum white one with pulling power. NO SUN ROOF...why? dont need it and weakens the roof in a rollover. It drives serine and is vault quiet. Nice to drive, but with less turing circle than my 2011 XLT 5.5 crew was and the front seats were better in the 2011. . The Goodyear model tires named "Fortitude" model are way too soft 5 ply and presents a jitttery ride with sloppy control. So, i traded them for Michelin Defenders LTX MS (new 2016 model) range load E and its a changed pickup. It is more settled and planted on the road with zero jittery ride Much better handling and cornering. A bit more firm ride due to the E load range tires. This is the tire for this pickup, especially if you want to tow. I have read many complaints about the jittery ride , even in Conusmer's Reports. Well, tires are never mentioned how much they effect the performance and handling in vehicle reviews. Ford would sell many more pickups if they would consider this tire as standard for an FX4 and max trailer tow options. Tires matter always...and tire pressure. So far I am elated and looking forward to driving my pickup and pulling my trailer. I would seriously look at the Fords their safety is top rated and build quality is outstanding. I have owned two ford F150s in the last 15 years and all were good to me. BTW...drive the turbo with reason , check tire pressures often and you'll get decent economy....forget good gas mileage when you tow......10 is normal. Also, use premium fuel as Ford recomends when towing. You have the engine....use it to its maximum capablity...you paid for it!

2016 Ford F-150 XL 2dr Regular Cab 6.5 ft. SB (3.5L 6cyl 6A)

Owned the truck five months! Headlight unit had to be replaced, plastic adjuster striped, replaced wiper blades- left streaks, back side of side view mirror came off in car wash, electrical problems: no radio but cd player worked-dash lights were in day time mode at night-alarm went off by itself- power windows go up half way then go back down on their own- . What a disappointment. Truck LOOKS very sharp but the longer I own it the more disappointed I am. Anybody wanna buy it?! Owned many Rams before- no problems. This is a brand new 2016 f150, regular cab, short bed, and I have many compliments on it. For sale. 5500 miles. Go to get trade in value and it's pathetic- five grand loss in five months of me owning it. Update: fortunately I was able to trade the thing in, taking less of a hit than I thought due to the vehicle , Ram, that I bought. NEVER again a ford - Fixed Or Repaiered Daily = FORD
