Great trucks

I dont know why I can't choose the 5.4L engine as an option but it's what mine came with. I've owned a lot of these trucks and you just cannot break them. I bought this one with 85k miles on it. The only thing ever replaced were coil packs and an alternator. Aside from that the truck runs flawlessly. I would recommend these to anyone.

We purchased the F150 5.4l v-8 for its powerful towing capability. We tow a travel trailer that weighs in @ 7200lbs. dry/wt. We have the 2wd SuperCrew with auto transmission. We live in northern California and the F-150 Triton 5.4l v8 has no problem at all pulling over Donner Summit or over the Siskiyou Mountains into Oregon. The ride is very comfortable, for I am 6'4" and I not small in stature, and the handling is smooth. Very road worthy when pulling the trailer. I am very satisfied with the overall performance and comfort of the F150 SuperCrew. The mileage when pulling trailer in cruise control @ 55- 60mph range in overdrive is around 11- 12mpg. Not pulling trailer about 17mpg, not bad for a truck.

I was going to trade it in the other day for an 11 but decided to keep it AGAIN. Do all the usual and required maintenance and the 5.4 Triton just keeps on going. No oil leaks and the air is blowing cold. I added the Lucas extended mileage treatment and the cold start knock went away. I'm putting another 900 bucks in it today. Tie rods and rear pinion gasket and a new serpentine belt. I expect another 35 k out of this truck easily. just under 209k now. Paid $7500 for it over 2 years ago and did some break work , front end ball joints and 2 tires. VALUE

I love this truck! It is by far the best truck I have ever owned. I have driven and hauled trailers across the country from Miss. to Montana and back to Mich. and this truck has no problem at all. I have the 4.6 engine and I have 70,000 miles on it and it runs just as good as the day I bought it. I change the oil every 3-4k and I still get 20mpg on the highway. I couldn't ask for a better truck. I will drive this truck until the doors fall off or a million miles, whichever comes first...My son wants the truck but only after I'm dead and gone. I only drive Ford trucks. No other truck compares in my book. I have had four other Ford trucks in my days but this is the best. Period.

This is my 1st time buying an American vehicle and this truck has been only problems since I bought it. (new) I took it in to SVC dept. because it kept loosing power and shutting down and it turned out to be a wiring shortage after spending a whole month in the SVC dept. and changing different parts in it. Now at 51000 the transmission has gone out on it. Besides all the problems my truck ran smooth and I love the space in it but I will not buy another Ford again!

I have found that the Ford SuperCrew trucks are almost the perfect vehicle for people with a family. You can combine the comfort of a car with the usefulness of a pickup. I love my truck. I have had NO repairs other than basic maintenance (knock on wood).

My family and I love ours so much we named the truck "Rocket". Not because it's really fast but because of "The Little Einstein's" rocket ship. Always there, ready for action and it won't let you down. This is my 3rd Ford truck and only sold my 2nd because we had another child on the way and a Super Crew was needed. It is roomy, sits up nice and is comfortable on long trips. One was 2,000 miles and another with 1,400 averaging 22 mpg on both trips with a 3.55 rear gear. Overall, I'm sure I will buy another F-150 when that time comes.

I enjoy this truck. It has the 5.4 and still the power isn't overwhelming (but more than enough to haul or tow easily). The looks are great (I prefer this style to the 2004+). I did and do have problems with the build quality, the roof rain rails of the FX4 were unpainted from factory, and the dealership made me less than happy. But interior quality of the Ford is fantastic, it's easy to drive and smooth and comfortable. I've always had fantastic luck with the reliability of Ford's (even if I have to have a little less performance).

Awesome, this truck is every mans dream if he wants a truck plus luxury. I have the 5,4L engine and it is very responsive and moves out fast. The ride is unmatched, I drove all models and traded a 97 dodge. The room in the back seat is unmatched, a friend is 6'4'' and had plenty of legroom with the front seat back. My family loves it, especially the kids who now have a full window to look out and cup holders that actually hold a real drink in place. I took my new Ford to the Dodge dealer and he couldn't come close to matching luxury and price. Now I can honestly say all the men of the family own Ford trucks and will never buy anything else!

WHEN RUNNING THE TRUCK KINDA HARD IN EVERY GEAR WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED IT MADE A SCREECHING NOISE. (DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE) DRIVER SIDE DOOR RATTLED LIKE IT WAS FULL OF ROCKS. I HAD MORE FAITH IN MY 1985 F150 W/ 170k MILES THAN I HAD WITH MY 03 W/ 9K MILES THAT I LOST ALOT OF MONEY ON WHEN I TRADED IT IN, BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE MAKING ONE MORE PAYMENT ON!!!

F-150 Comparison to a Chevy TrailBlazer

Previously I owned a 2002 Chevy TrailBlazer SLT. I found towing my 16ft. aluminum boat on a steep grade to be rather poor with the (15.8 MPG Hwy) 5.4 ltr V8. Chevy's 4.2 inline 6 cylinder would have dragged this boat to the top while accelerating. I also found the Lariat package of my F- 150 to be rather lack luster. No heated seats nor the simplisity of a pocket on the back of the front seats. There's no storage room! For the price of this vehicle and the top-of-the-line Lariat package, it should have been much more.

Love this truck . Bought it used with 158k on it . Previous owner was meticulous with it . Amsoil and filter oil changed every 7k miles . Interior is roomy and comfortable . Design is blah , very plain . Like GM and Dodge cockpits better . Have an Slt Lariat Crew cab . have a KN cold air intake ( installed by previous owner ) but I am troubled by the gas mileage . I drive about 70 mph on the highway with cruise constantly . I am only getting 14 and change per gallon . Whats going on . Previous owner swears he was getting 15-18 depending on howhe drove. I do not get into the gas and rarely go over 2k on the tach . Any suggestions ?have the 5.4

After having a 1994 Ranger STX, I'm hooked on having a pickup, but needed something I could fit the expanding family in. The Super Crew fit the bill perfectly. I'm 6'6" and this a very comfortable for me. It's great for the snow here in New England, and is easy to drive considering how big it is. The 5.4L has more than enough power to get this truck around. We have had it for 2 years with no problems, and the gas mileage is better than expected, as it's no worse than my Ranger which had the 4.0L V6

Love the high ride, excellent visibility, and features. Fuel economy is very bad but you already know that. Bed extender is a must and skip the FX option if you don't go off road much and the ride will be smoother. Have traveled the West with 5K lb trailer and didn't know it was there. The roomy cabin served family of well with room to put in a 13 inch TV on the console for 2 kids. Purchased new and has 14K. Dealership has been very good. Nice Power when you need it. Excellent value.

This is the second F-150 I have owned, and I would own nothing else. This truck is extremely stylish, reliable, fast, and very gas efficient for its size. I bought the last year of the "old" body style because I think Ford should have kept their styling the same into 2004 and on. I have added a K&N cold air induction system and I would recommend this to any owners, as it significantly adds torque and horsepower, along with gas mileage. I would also suggest adding dual exhaust as it adds a "head turning" sound and also adds horsepower and torque.

Wife loves it and in fact it was her choice of vehicle over a 4 door car. I like the good road manners and the good performance as well as handling. Keeping in mind that it's a truck, but it does handle well. Remains to be seen how it's going to work out for towing a 3600# trailer, but hauling the - car - trailer empty (1200#) it seems like it's not even there. It has the 5.4 engine. One improvement I would like to see, assuming there is room would be a well in the rear floorboards that would be an on-board permanent toolbox. All in all though, we're very pleased with the truck. Especially wifey. She's finding it difficult to share....

Have had my second F-150 for a year now and can't say anything bad about it. Pulls 6,000 lb boat with ease, handles the snow like it's dry asphalt, and looks great while doing it. Recently challenged the safety claims and must say that the poor bumper review does not apply. I ended up sideswiping a small coupe that was in my blind spot at about 30 mph. Took out the whole side of the car (about $3,000 worth) and the damage to the truck....none. I ended up hitting the side of the car with my front bumber and the only damage was a streak of blue paint, which buffed out in 2 min. UNBELIEVABLE!I love this truck!

I traded a 2000 C1500 Silverado in to try my first Ford pickup. For the few weeks I've had it, I love it. Although the horsepower is much less than my Chevy (231 vs. 270), it still drives great. The interior look and feel are better than the Chevy, and the ride/transmission is much smoother too. We'll see if I end up a true convert. My Dad retired from General Motors so I could have bought any GMC at a discount. Thought I would try the Ford.

I bought this truck to replace two vehicles. An old fullsize Chevy truck and relatively new Accord (4dr). However, on some occasions we prefer using this over our Windstar for road trips. If you need to haul 5 people and lots of big stuff (without strapping it to the roof) you can't beat it. Simply put the truck is exactly what I was looking for. I have the 4.6L, get the 5.4L. The 4.6L has enough power for me. But the upgrade is only $500 and I would get it if I were buying again. The difference in economy is not significant. Also, definitely get the bucket seats but get the power adjusting option as well!

Just bought the 2003 Supercrew 4.6 liter, and the gas economy is horrendous. The tires are horrible as they made my truck shake until I hit speeds of 60+. Have to reach up and far to even change the radio. Not made for shorter, smaller people. Shouldn't have test driven a Lariat...

I get compliments about this truck all the time even from non-truck fans. Gas mileage is ok but if you are worried about that don't buy a truck. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone!

My first nice vehicle. I went all out and got most options. The truck is beautiful inside and out. Roomy, comfortable ride. Heated leather captain chairs are very nice. I was a little weary buying an American truck because of all the stuff you hear about poor quality, but I must admit I'm very impressed. Although it's big it is easily maneuverable and the visibility is good. No blind spots. Rides up nice and high. After more than a year I still enjoy walking out to my truck every morning. Gas is pricey, but if you can afford to buy the truck chances are good that you can afford the gas.

I needed something that had enough room to haul a family as well as haul other miscellanous junk we as homeowners seem to collect over the course of a year. The Ford F-150 Supercrew 2wd was exactly the vehicle I was looking for. I opted for the 5.4L V8 engine instead of the 4.6L. The 5.4L just gives the vehicle that added push. If you are going to get the F-150 go for the gold and get the bigger V8.

The only real complaint I have about this truck is the comfort of the 40/60 bench seats. I have always gotten the bucket seats and thought I would try the bench, wish I hadn't. Also because of the 40/60 there is not as much storage for stuff in the center console/fold down apparatus. I would definitely recommend the truck, but with bucket seats! Reliability has been great as with all Ford trucks I have owned. Build quality is outstanding.

This truck has been awesome. I searched around until I found one with a 3.73 limited slip rear end; it has tons of power with the 5.4. The King Ranch leather is a lot nicer than the Lariat; the mileage is actually ok for a fairly large truck with a big v8. Owned Chevys and Toyotas and this truck rides smoother, has better build quality, and gets a lot more complements about the interior and exterior styling.

I have the 5.4 V8, Tow, Moonroof, power rear window, 6 disk in-dash, and purchased for 28K. Now at 3500 miles there are no rattles, squeaks or wind noise. Alignment is perfect. The ride is firm. Interior quality is excellent. The seats have been raised 2-3 inches from previous models. I am relatively short (5'7") My feet just touch the floor. The seats took some getting used to. Low mounted door arm-rests not practical due to tall seats. Engine power is very adequate. I tow a 5,500lb boat frequently. This truck accelerates well with or without boat in tow. Truck does not deserve "suggish" ratings. Excellent quality and good performance for the price.

I purchased the truck in April and I love it. I have had one minor problem with the cab step light on one side but the dealer fixed it right away. The truck rides great and the quality has been excellent, my only complaint is that the truck feels a little under powered but the pros are far greater. I get positive comments about the look of the truck all the time. Good job BLUE OVAL!!!

I have owned several small trucks and planned on buying a new Ford due to the great employee discounts. While looking, I found this 2003 F150 super crew Lariat FX4 with 31,000 miles. The options it had were amazing (power moonroof, heated seat, etc.). I felt like I was driving a luxury car. They wanted a lot of money but I did it and it is still early, but I LOVE THIS TRUCK! It's powerful, smooth, comfortable and SHARP. I hope I still feel this way in the years to come. AWESOME TRUCK (even though the dealer stuck it to me).

I've been on the fence since this truck came out. I was looking forward to a 4-door truck, as the SUVs just couldn't do the dirty jobs that trucks can. I didn't want to spend the money, but with the new model coming out in 2004 I figured this was finally the time. I went all out and got the 5.4 with the complete towing package in lieu of the Lariat (S FL is too hot for leather anyway!). This truck is totally awesome, and everyone is impressed at how much room there is. You sacrifice a bit with only a 5 1/2 foot bed, but what's 6 inches!! If I wanted less people room and more bed (and a less powerful engine) I'd have bought the Dodge!

Had a Chevy silverado and recently drove a Dodge 2002 ram for two days. The Ford supercrew with 5.4 in the best overall - mileage with power, room, ride, and comfort. Very pleased - 11,000 miles and no problems. Maybe get a Lariat next time.

This truck is wonderful. While I haven't had it for much more than 3 months I can say it's better than I expected and I had high expectations. I got the 5.4 Lariat FX4 and the power is fantastic, the offroad abilities are surprisingly good and the comfort is fantastic. The truck is quiet and solid.

I had a 2000 Ford Expedition XLT 2wd and traded it in for this new truck. The best choice that I made as far as a vehicle purchase, I know understand why Ford has the best selling truck.
