F-150 -- Good Truck

This truck has been a great one to own, but I am ready for something that gets a little better gas mileage. The only problem I have had with the truck is Ford brakes. This is the second Ford I have owned and had the same issues with both vehicles.

Surprises after 50.000 miles

Loved truck until recent maintenance. Anyone else believe that new rotors (deep rust pits), new headgasket and new power steering pump should ALL be required after only 4 years and 50,000 very easy (no towing, off-road etc.) miles? Wonderful vehicle turned into major disappointment.

Best new vehicle I've ever purchased

There have been no major mechanical problems with this truck, only regularly scheduled maintenance required. So far it shows no signs of the door crack problems associated with these early models of the redesigned Ford F-150. Also no signs of the piston slap problems associated with these trucks.

Forced to Part with Family Transportation

This vehicle was purchased new by my Father in 1999. Following his death in 2001, it was purchased by me. The truck has been incredibly reliable and useful.......serving as an all-purpose work truck. Unfortunately, it does not fit in the garage, and our Homeowners Association (HOA) does not let it remain parked in the driveway. It has interior issues, a current heating/AC issue (??), and an intermittent odometer due to a cracked solder joint (common for this year, with the "fix" described on YouTube). It would make a GREAT vehicle for a student looking for a vehicle with low registration and taxes, wanting minimal insurance coverage, and a high driver position / heavier vehicle / safer in potential accident. It would also be a great vehicle to "flip," if someone had the time, talent, and energy to invest in some repairs. Candidly, I'd keep the vehicle, but I can't.

1999 4WD 5.4 liter standard cab SB

This has been a great truck. The only problem I have had is burnt out coils on the plugs. I have replaced three in four years which I guess isn't too bad.The 5.4 liter engine has great torque and has easily out run many Chevrolets with 5.7 liter engines. The ride quality is good but gas mileage really blows, I do good to get 14 miles per gallon in mixed driving. But the truck is still tight with no rattles at 71000 miles. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a powerful, reliable truck.
