If you are mechanically inclined, it's a great work truck or even a low cost restoration project vehicle. Aging trucks need attention but DIY repairs are relatively cheap compared to new trucks and easy to work on. Not a lot of technical diagnostics needed. On the other hand, higher tech vehicles now have many safety enhanced features not found on older vehicles. But no emissions testing allows for upgrades and modifications without the worry of setting off the check engine light. Actually, new technology in fuel management many times results in better efficiency when upgrading. Finally, the Antique status, rarity and classic look evokes many a nostalgic memories. It feels good to drive something unique without spending an obscene amount of money to acquire it.
