Love my Ford
This was my third Ford Explorer and each of them improved over the previous model. None of the Explorer's have ever had even a minor factory defect. In fact, each of them with over 100K miles had any repair even minor.

warning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We bought this car in 2015 from a local dealership. We have put more money into it. The frame holding the engine is too small. Ford will not recall it. Do u ever feel a vibration when you are stopped and accelerate? well that is your engine shaking. I was literally bouncing from one side of the road to the other because the engine was bouncing the car around. we have had to replace the head lights several times. and now with less than 50,000 miles it needs new barrings and breaks. Just disgusted.

Rusty interior metal parts
Had my 2014 Explorer detailed at the local carwash. They sprayed a good amount of leather conditioner (lexol) on the seats in the process. I was trying to get the interior spiffed up, so I could sell the vehicle to a private party. 2 days later the buyer took a flashlight under the dash, and told me that my vehicle must have been in a flood, or submerged in a lake, because every metal surface was corroded with reddish brown rust. Every part under the dash, and the seat springs underneath, every bare metal part, rusted out !! Also the e-brake was failing, so I took it to my Ford dealer for a fix under warranty. My Ford dealer told me "sir, your warranty is void. your car has been submerged". I kid you not. I've never even been near a lake or ocean for that matter. I finally googled the leather conditioner lexol, and found that it can corrode metal parts. Luckily my buyer understood it was still a decent vehicle. Don't ever treat your leather seats with Lexol unless you want your car to be deemed a flood loss.
Blind spots
Make sure you take your time test driving this vehicle. Many blind spots, between looking in your side view mirrors and trying a to see cars coming over your shoulders, it's very dangerous. Also the design of the front end makes it hard to tell when to stop when parking. All said and done, I would not make this same purchase. Again. So much for wanting to buy American!
