Used 2006 Ford Explorer Consumer Reviews
Excellent Vehicle
Only have 2,000 miles so far, but am liking this '06 Explorer the more I drive it. Very quiet inside and has a smooth ride and very secure handling.
Black Beauty
Bought this 2006 Limited V-8 with 32,000 miles to replace a 1996 Isuzu Trooper. The Explorer has great styling both inside and out, three rows of seats with power folding third row. Plenty of interior room, with lots of leg room in the second row. Good visibility, with a straight hood, so you can see the front corners of the vehicle. The ride is very smooth with the independent rear suspension, and interior quiet at highway speeds. I did purchase a extended warranty for three years/thirty-six thousand miles. Recently had a run through the snow with slippery road conditions. The automatic 4WD worked great, but also tried the "manual" 4WD option. No problems either. Overall, great!

It really is the best Explorer
Having had Explorers in the past I was skeptical about how different the 2006 model could be. The difference is dramatic. This vehicle is solid and quiet. Finally Detroit is not just playing catch up with the European and Japanese car companies. This vehicle is every bit as good and in some cases miles better than the competition.
Heap of JUNK!!
At this current time my Ford 2006 Explorer XLS is at the service department at the purchase dealership. This time it was returned for the recall on and having too heavily accelerate when in reverse and especially in drive. They think it maybe an engine or transmission problem at (108000 miles). The joke is the transmission is sealed and must be returned to the service department for servicing and of course money. Also, the radiator has been replaced twice. I am very afraid to maintain this vehicle due to the current and previous mechanical problems. This vehicle is American Made but its a heap of joke and I wonder was it assembled on Monday or Friday.
This is number 5
Was looking for something different after owning 4 Explorers. Had major problem with my '02 to the point Ford gave me a free ESP. After test driving everything else I bought the first '06 sold from my dealership. Over all you cannot beat the styling, ride, room, power, comfort, price or anything about the Explorer. I do have concerns about the service records given my past experiences with Explorers. My last 2 were in the shop more times then I care to mention. I just hope Ford's motto lives up to my '06 XLT and their quality was job one when building my '06.
