Bought one of the last 2006's on the lot. Got $6,400 off sticker and 1.9% apr for 72 months. This car has impressed me more than any other vehicle I have owned. Thoughtful design, awesome powertrain, plush interior and it looks great in black! Traded in an '03 Mazda Tribute for this and got about the same payment, what a deal! The dealer also threw in a 7 year/70,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and lifetime oil changes. Could not have been more pleased with the entire experience and the vehicle.

Waste of money

I think this vehicle sums up why Amrican auto industry is going down. I have 2008 BMW 335i convertible. I bought this Explorer for cold/snowy winter days. What a mistake! Interior is nothing but dollar store hard plastic which starts peeling after a while. Handling is a nigthmare. Original tires are a joke. This type of handling from $38000 vehicle is unacceptable. After I replaced the tires with Michelins and added 1 inch wheel spacers to front and rear, handling got little better. But nothing drives me more crazy than the wind noise at highway speeds. Once you are over 70mph, it is impossible to have normal conversation. New tires eliminated the road noise but wind noise is redicilious

I purchased my white-beauty brand- spankin' used in Dec 08. I still have a daily sedan, but I love the days when I drive my truck. It's so smooth and it feels solid, planted and secure. I have had two problems, a failed radiator(which is fairly common with this Explorer) and both my power outlets failed. All was covered under warranty. I love the high seating position and it's nice when travelling. The cabin is very capacious with the seats folded down. I have saved so much money when buying large items that previously would have required paying for delivery. This is my first Ford and my first SUV. I will definitely be steering my wife toward that new Taurus when her car needs replacing!!

windshield glare

This is pathetic. The windshield glare is terrible. The entire dashboard is reflected onto the windshield. It is dangerous and distracting. The dealer claims its a "normal glare." Don't buy the 06 Explorers with the tan interior. The engineers knew of this defect but did not fix it. They don't care. I have owned Ford cars all of my life. This is the last Ford I will drive. I will tell everyone I know about the lack of customer service. This is very upsetting that Ford stands behind such crap!

I Love My SUV

I'm a missionary and I travel a lot over the country of Mexico and it really is comfortable to drive and ride in. I travel with my family and feel safe in the handling and response of the vehicle in the mountains and in off road performance. Everyone that has traveled with me says that it truly is quiet and that it is comfortable too.
