I'd buy another (but not a V8)

My '98 Eddie Bauer is a great vehicle. It hauls all I need it to, has proven to be reliable and looks great. The features on this truck have spoiled me (power everything, auto headlights, steering wheel controls, push button entry, great stereo, etc.) The V8 is very strong whether you're hauling or playing with some kid in a Honda Civic. I recommend it to someone looking for a TRUCK based SUV!

I purchased this vehicle in June 2003 with 94000 miles and an extended warranty contract. I have put 9,000 miles on it since. Other than a rattly suspension (replaced shocks), it has been great.

I love this SUV...it's got the WORKS!! on it and it handles/drives great on the open road with goodies like rear air with radio/cd controls and plug-in for a player...overhead console and weather/directional indicators...child proof locks. Cools/Heats great with either control you want to set like rear/below/around/under/circle. Lock your keys inside??? No problem with a Keyless entry --- punch in your code...as car automatically locks also. Selling only because I'm a widow and have bills/taxes to pay and seeking a smaller engine car for getting about. I will guarantee that you'll love/enjoy this SUV.

Chronologically, we have had to repair/replace: -tranny (1 week after purchase) -transmission valve body -Throttle body -New keyless entry keypad -Air sensor (once it fails you are rewarded with an exhilirating 30 minute period during which the truck will not start) -Fuel Pump -Throttle body -New tires (the original firestones had a nasty tendency to kill you) -Ball Joints (No grease points. if they ever need grease, they need to be replaced. Top notch!) Currently, I am eagerly anticipating having to replace another throttle body, as the car stalls every so often now, and well, it has been 10,000 miles since I replaced it. I guess it's time.

Driving experience and dependability has been very good. No serious mechanical problems. One irritant has been that the check engine light stays on and dealer or others cannot figure out what is cause. Sometimes it stays off for months then comes back on for no apparant reason. Use it in my Real Estate business and love the spacious interior.
