they got it right
Got my Explorer used off of a lease, now have 175,000 miles on it, it'll go another 25,000 without too much trouble. I think Ford got this one right, it's a toss up between buying a new one and rebuilding this one!
Excellent Motor & Transmissiom
Purchased used with 87,000 miles on it. I've recorded 91,000 miles over the past 3 years. I now have a total of 178,000. No repairs to the motor and transmission. Had to replace the radiator.I made the decision to convert the air conditioner for better cooling Both cost a total of $675.00. Overall, I'm pleased with it's performance.

Even now she still surprises me!
With over 168,000 miles on the original transmission and engine this truck continues to amaze us. Though 130k miles is freeway commuter trips and the remaining city driving, this truck has yet to give us any major repair bills (knock on wood). The leather was well worn, so I installed beautiful Wet Okole seat covers and she looks new again! Well done Ford! Look at how many of the pre-1995 Explorers are still on the road next tiem you're on the interstate, it will surprise you.
electrical contractor

XLT is worth it
I found it to be very clean running, fuel efficiant (13 miles per gallon) with manual five-speed, and a 4.0 Liter V6 Engine. The engine has never given me problems. All I ever get is compliments on how confortable and smooth the ride was from passengers. Cargo space, the rear seats fold down which gives out about 6+ feet of room. Although the seats do not fold down all the way, leaving you with a bed that slants at 10 degrees. The paint fades. So, a wax job is needed after cleaning the truck at least every week. The truck is small enough to fit tigh spaces and has a tight turning radius. While still having tons of room for cargo and passengers.
