Expo-ceptional towing and cargo space
I've had this vehicle for 6 years, and it has 152,000 miles on it. I was concerned about the longevity and reliability of the turbo Ecoboost, but so far the motor has been solid. Overall, my expo has been fairly reliable and has impressive capabilities. My wife drives it mostly, and we use it regularly for long trips with our family of 5, two dogs, and towing a travel trailer. It is very comfortable for all passengers, even the third row, and still has plenty of cargo room. I am still amazed at how many people and cargo can fit! The 3.5 turbo V-6 matched with 6spd transmission is strong. It has plenty of power and torque, even when towing our 6,500lb camper. Braking is pretty good too. I've kept up with maintenance and haven't had a major mechanical problem yet, but it hasn't been perfect. Here's the list of annoying problems: the blue tooth and sync system stopped working ($800 repair at Ford dealer). The rear shocks failed and had to be replaced ($600). The driver door lock had to be repaired. The rear back-up camera only works about half the time. The driver side door started leaking recently and filling up the floor with water, which I fixed by drilling a hole in the rocker panel. Check engine light came on for an emissions issue. Our state doesn't do emission inspections, and we've continued driving it without any problems. The heat/AC still work well, and the sound system is good. My biggest complaints are that our XLT model only has one USB outlet, and the interior has many cheap plastic parts that break easily. Also, the factory suspension/handling was quite bouncy, which I fixed with upgraded shocks. We avg. 19mpg, and 10mpg towing our camper, which is good for large SUV. This may not be the best full size SUV available, but it is a good value in my opinion and suites my family's needs well. I recommend it for any active and large families, but be prepared for some reliability issues as it ages.

2017 EL XLT 4WD
Love this vehicle. Last SUV was a Suburban and was glad to see it go. This Expedition was priced right, has more electronics available than I will ever need. Has a great ride for a 4 wheel drive truck chases, just the way I prefer it to ride. The interior room is expansive and I like the interior design, simple and easy. All in all, a great vehicle. I feel it will last as long as my F-350 which is 16 years old and looks and runs great. The V6, 275 HP engine with the six speed transmission gets up and goes.

overall I really like the 2017 Expedition EL
Beautiful and functional truck. Some reviews state the styling is boxy and dated but I love it. The shape and lines are, in my view, timeless and classic. None of the overly contoured look on other vehicles.Engine performance is impressive. Tons of power, very peppy and good economy when you consider the size of this thing. The interior is beautiful. Nice fit and finish. Nice layout. I like the instrument cluster a lot but do wish they would update the system to allow vehicle info (like the trip and fuel economy metrics) to be displayed on the right hand screen in addition to the phone & entertainment options. Also wish the stereo system had a simple AUX in jack. Apple CarPlay and the system bluetooth work well but a 3.5mm AUX jack should also be an option. The nav system is pretty good but I still prefer Waze and hope it's supported on CarPlay one day. Sync3 overall is pretty cool and easy to use. The interface is well done. The display is beautiful. Have only had the truck for one month, so can't speak to reliability or maintenance yet. UPDATE: After owning the vehicle over a year I still love it overall. Excellent looks, ride comfort, interior layout and cargo capacity. Waze support will be offered with Sync3 v3, so that's welcome news. Criticisms include: lack of cargo tie-down points in the cargo area, the 110V outlet is only 150W, which is very weak and the stock halogen headlights have relatively weak output.
