I purchased a Ford Escape Titanium Hybrid five months ago. I am vey please with my purchase. I have owned several new vehicles over the years. I was about to buy a Honda CR-V and then drove the Escape. Ford has shown and eye for detail to the little things that add up to a great driving experience. My criteria was Adaptive Cruse Control, quit ride, good acceleration, braking, styling, power lift gate, heated seats, good handling and front power seat with presets. The escape delivered on all items except it could be quieter when it comes to road noise. You won't notice it if you are a radio listener. Some people may find the engine to be a little loud, but it has a throaty sound move like a tough V6 and I love it. I give it a 9.5 out of 10 for meeting my expectations. Ford really paid close action to all the ergonomics. It is all the thoughtful little things that makes Escape add up to a really excellent driving experience SUV. In My opinion Adaptive Cruse Control takes about 70% out of the pain of driving on a long trip especially on the Interstate. I hope this review is helpful to someone looking for a really good driving experience.

In the past few years I had a 2010 Escape hybrid and a 2019 Escape (turbo) as work vehicles. I rated them as 'just ok' but have to say the 2010 was doing very well for a nine year old vehicle. I test drove the 2020 Escape Titanium hybrid and wrote up a full price offer the next day. I had already driven most of the other hybrids that were available including the Rav4 which became my second choice. I am very impressed with all aspects of the 2020 Titanium. I love the new body style. The Rav4, Honda CRV, and Mitsubitsi were downright boring to look at in comparison. The ride and comfort of the Escape was notably better than the Rav4. If you test drive a hybrid Rav4 the first thing you may notice is that when you come to a stop it makes an annoying electric motor noise [like a siren] that actually startled my wife the first few times it made the noise while she drove. It is that loud. The centre arm rest was found to be uncomfortably high in the Rav 4 and the interior and displays were sort of disappointing. Additionally, the truck like front end treatment on the Rav4 simply does not do it for me. The Escape reminds me of European styled cars like Porsche or Jaguar. I find the lane centering and stop and go traffic self driving features spooky and will take a while to get used to having a car drive itself in stop and go traffic. This Escape is a very good car and really, the only thing I don't like much is the plasticy wood grain treatment in the dash inserts and door panels. I like the aluminum inserts that are installed on the lower trim models better. Anyone want to trade for some wood grain? Gas mileage is fantastic! We started a small trip with about 700 kilometres showing as range till empty. After driving for several hours, with several stops, in the country on winding roads we actually had more kilometres of range showing at the end of the trip. Readouts indicated that battery power accounted for about 15% of our motive force. I recommend giving this car a long look before considering other small SUV's.

SE Sport Hybrid - The best 2020 Escape

Wife and I each test-drove the SEL, SE Hybrid, and Titanium Hybrid. We drove them on both a sunny day and a rainy day. The handling, acceleration, and braking impressed us. The Titanium trim was beyond our price range. I was trading in my 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid; so, I was very interested in the new hybrid model. I prefer a 4-cylinder over a three. So, we decided on the SE Sport Hybrid trim. We like the host of safety features, the myriad of information displays, the Sync3 system, and the large and high entertainment screen. I really like the dial-transmission and digital displays. The controls are mostly laid out well. Single climate zone. Heat works well; defrosters work well. Fan speeds are a bit too low. The hybrid operation is very seamless and quiet. The gas engine emits a bit of a growl when you push it. I’m averaging the advertised 40mpg overall, and have frequently exceeded that figure on trips of 13 to 20 miles. The “sport” in SE is evident when one switches from Normal or Eco mode to Sport. The acceleration is great. This can be a fun car to drive if you want to sacrifice a bit of fuel economy. The front seats are comfortable (I’m average height). The rear seats can be moved forward or back, depending on where you need the space—passenger or cargo area. Cargo space meets our needs. I easily fit 16 50-pound bags of heating pellets in the cargo area with the seats down. Our dealer actually told us not to buy a remote starter; said to use the Ford App; saved us several hundred bucks. One USB-C slot and one USB; could use more. Model comes with Apple CarPlay and the Android equivalent. Even has a wifi hotspot. Other reviews mention how the model comes with a tire inflation kit instead of a spare tire. I went to a tire store and bought a tire and rim, which went into the rear 12-volt battery compartment. The added weight doesn’t seem to have affected my mpg. We agree with multiple reviewers how the interior plastics look cheap, but that “concern?” was way down our list. Our priorities were cargo space and mpg and price. The SE Sport Hybrid hot the sweet spot for us. Update - September 2020: Here we are nine months later. So, how do we feel about the car, now? Great. People still remark on the styling and color. We average 40mpg overall. I enjoy driving it for long distances and my wife enjoys being a passenger. In other words, the seats are very good. No mechanical problems. We still are very happy with our choice. Update March 2021: We’ve had the car for over a year and a quarter; driven around 6700 miles. We use it mostly for longer in-state trips. No problems to report. We are still very happy with the car. Update June 2021: Drove approx 320 miles from Boston area to Mount Desert Island in Maine. MPG driving there was around 42. We drove approx 137 miles around the island over three days; filled up just before driving home—-2.2 gallons! On way home, our mpg was approx 48! No problems; after a year and a half, very happy.

We ended up purchasing this vehicle, and we do not regret it. After testing Toyota, Mazda, Honda we believe this was the best fit. The design is great and the interior with the digital instrument cluster makes for a great view of everything you need in front of you. The vehicle around the city averages around 48-55mpg, which is very impressive. Trunk space is very sufficient for the size of the vehicle. I enjoy the panoramic sunroof and the sliding rear seats. Overall, after 2 months, I am very happy with the purchase, comfort, ride quality and fuel economy. I have yet to see how it performs in snow.

I cross shopped a RAV4 Hybrid, and a Mazda CX-5. I left the Toyota dealership impressed with the RAV4 Interior but disappointed by the handling, drivetrain and truck-like demeanor. Plus, the Toyota was expensive! With the Escape, I guess it was love at first drive. I immediately found the Escape's handling to be agile and very car-like. Steering felt precise and the eCVT felt and sounded great. I ended up leasing the SE Sport Hybrid trim, so I'm really enjoying the great mileage (up to 52 mpg on my route to work). I also love the clean European-like design of the exterior along with the attractive interior. Some professional reviewers seem stuck on some of the plastic parts featured on the interior, but I can't see the problem. The dash and front door panels are soft touch and have a great look and the amount of hard plastic wasn't that much different from my trade (2015 BMW 328i). Visibility and ride height are a plus for me, and the LCD display looks high-tech. I also cross-shopped the Mazda CX-5, but I'd have to stay with the smaller 2.5 engine to stay in my price range. I believe my final decision came down to the available hybrid powertrain on the escape. As for the CRV, there is something I don't like about the styling, inside and out, so I didn't even test drive the Honda (although I previously owned and loved the Gen3 CRV).

We could not be more pleased with the new Escape! A few weeks after purchase we drove almost 2000 miles on vacation and the vehicle did wonderfully. Our highway mileage was 39 even through the mountains. We averaged 44-46 around town. Ford’s active driving aids are easy to use, work flawlessly, and make driving long distances relaxing. As an owner of a BMW, a Lincoln, a Honda, and a Tesla, I can say from experience that the Ford/Lincoln adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist systems are some of the best. The car is also very comfortable. No fatigue or back issues after driving. The interior is not luxury car standards in quality, but clean, comfortable, and well laid out. I am impressed with the interior noise level and the fact that a car the only cost $38,000 has laminated windows and other sound deadening aids. Ford’s Sync system also works well for navigation, traffic, music, and phone calls. The voice recognition is excellent.

Escape Hybrid verses RAV4 Hybrid

Rocky Calvert, 08/31/2020

After spending three weeks driving and testing RAV4, we ending up in two days buying a Escape hybrid Titanium. The cost was 8000 dollars cheaper for the same package on a RAV4 with all rebates. On the first test drive of the Escape my wife fell in love with the car, the comfort, the style, the looks, we both agreed it looked just like a Porsche. The closest car to it on the RAV4 side was the XSE which was 7000 more And the limited 9000 more. We honestly were not looking for this car and quite frankly didn’t even know it existed, we just drove by a ford dealership and seen it and thought wow that is really a good looking car. Then we drove it and again wow! This drives really good, so we did a little shopping and bought a white one and couldn’t be happier. We picked up a extra 60,000 mile warranty at our credit unit for 1500 and we now have a bumper to bumper 100,000 mile warranty. Now it remains to be seen long term if this car will hold up against the RAV4 , that verdict is still out there. The RAV4 for me came in 2nd. And if the price would have been the same I might have still went with the RAV4, but my wife is all the way in on the escape Titanium. First trip of 100 miles in Economy mode I got 45 mpg so we were extremely pleased with that. Bottom line you cannot go wrong with either one you just get so much more for your money with the escape.

It's a HOME RUN....and 600 MILES range to a tank!

After much research on compact SUVs and the usual bias towards Toyota and Honda, and after test drives, decided to take a chance on the 2020 Escape - hybrid Titanium package. Am I glad I did! THIS PRODUCT IS A HOME RUN from Ford in its category. After close to a month of ownership, I am simply blown away at every aspect - from quality of build, to handling, to interior space, to performance, and to even aesthetics when compared to the RAV4 and CRV. Being a new owner, I can't speak to reliability or durability but there is no reason to believe they will be materially different from Toyota or Honda, given the global nature of present day automobile platforms. Escape has a distinctly Euro look and feel to it inside including a sleek instrument panel - more like a information display panel since it is all one big screen it appears. Navigation and camera images are crisp and HD with convenient touch controls. Ford autopilot is as good as any (better than the Audi Q7's that I have). Get this - I got a whopping 600 MILES IN ONE TANK OF GAS (the one I drove out of the dealer lot with)! Averaging around 42 MPG. Yes, some of the inside plastic could feel more 'high end' but plastic is plastic no matter how it looks or feels. And that seems to be the order of the day in all autos these days. If any con - the rear seat could be an inch deeper (thigh length). Other than that this is a product you don't need to hesitate to buy! GOOD JOB Ford, ensure reliability and durability and you are #1.

After a year, I still love this car. I recently took a trip where I rented a competitors SUV and there was no question that the Escape is superior. And it wasn’t just because I am more familiar with my car. The Escape has been trouble-free and still looks like it is new.

2020 Escape Titanium Hybrid - Great Experience!!

I purchased a 2020 Titanium Hybrid back in November. I have almost 4,000 miles on the car and have had absolutely no issues. I traded my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee in after taking the Jeep in for 6 service issues in 5 months as I was approaching the end of the warranty. I previously had a 2015 Focus Titanium which I sold with 100,000 miles on the odometer and no problems whatsoever. The Escape caught my eye when it was released because of the sportier contours of the design and the high predicted reliability rating from JD Power. After 3 months of ownership I haven’t been let down. I bought the car at $8k under MSRP and cross-shopped the RAV4 and CRV. Both the Honda and Toyota lacked the sporty appearance and neither could come close to the safety features, self-parking feature, and MPG I get on the Escape. I’m averaging anywhere from 40-42 MPG in mixed driving and it has very responsive steering and breaking in Miami traffic. Both the CRV and RAV4 have very numb handling and I personally prefer the more European driving dynamics offered by the Escape. I’ve read multiple reviews about the interior feeling cheap. First of all, the front to back sunroof is amazing. I have the tan interior and I like the contrast with the darker soft touch padding on the dash and doors. The audio system is awesome and the digital dash looks cool when interfacing with the different driving modes. It’s definitely an understated interior vs. the Japanese or other American car competition, but it’s clear to me that this car was designed more with European tastes in mind, where it’s sold as the Ford Kuga. I’d recommend you give the Escape a test drive. Compare the incentives and discounts you’ll get on this car vs. the competition and it’s a no brained. Apples to apples, a fantastic buy with great performance!!
