Used 2005 Ford Escape Consumer Reviews
My new Escape
I have only had this now for about a month and I cannot drive it enough! It drives nice and handles almost like a car! I would tell anyone who ask to at least test drive one!
Mine was built on Friday
The vehicle is fun to drive, sure footed in snow, and a great family vehicle. But the build quality is questionable and I couldn't see this vehicle lasting more than 60k miles without a lot of repairs. My Escape has has multiple issues due to a water leak under or near the firewall. This has caused multiple electical issues from random power accessories failing, radio turning on when key is removed and turned off, wet floors, and the nice smell of mildew. Multiple trips to the dealer has yet to bring my truck back to new - so it's going to be traded in on something else - possibly an Escape. Mine was just built on Friday. :(

She was right
I originally was looking for a new F-150 to replace my 2001. When stepped on the lot we saw the Escapes and stopped to look. My wife said I should look into one to save on gas. She felt we only needed one big truck, that being our '03 Expedition. Even though I wanted a new F-150 I researched the Escape and the numbers looked good. I am a big guy (6'1" 270lbs) and I fit, not only in the front seats but in the back. This is my new commuter vehicle, I put almost 100k on my '01 F-150 in less than 4 years back and forth to work. I got great handling, I'm comfortable, get better gas mileage and I park it in a lot places I couldn't with my truck.
Wowser!
I bought this car from a lot of rental returns. I had been toying with the idea of an SUV for a while, and this one was available. I love my little Escape (though the mileage is a bit lower than I had in my sedan) -- it's so much fun to drive. I can scoot up the on-ramps like lightning and it handles great. In MN we've already had lots of snow -- it's not a problem. I've had one long road trip (400 miles) and it was comfy enough -- I didn't need to stop. Around town it's great, too -- I can park practically anywhere, even parallel parking. I would definitely recommend this if you want something a little higher up, the safety of all wheel drive, and plenty of cargo space, even for a family.
