Used 2014 Ford Edge SUV Consumer Reviews
Great car for family
- Performance
Great car for work and travel.
I bought the car in 2014. It was a demo with 5,000 miles. White AWD Edge Sport. I purchased as a wanted a good SUV that would travel well, handle well, and could handle snow and ice when necessary. I also have two dogs and haul grandkids occasionally. I had the dealer add a tow package when i bought the car. I got tow package for holding a bike rack. I used in Southern California for about 4 years. Worked in downtown LA and lived about 45 miles away, so lots of commuting. Car handles well in freeway driving and visibility is great. Used for several road trips in California, but also to Montana, Oregon, Arizona and others. I moved to Tennessee about 3 years ago. Use car for work. Also have a farm and tow a trailer pretty often. Good towing capacity as i can tow a four seat UTV on the trailer, construction debris and other pretty heavy loads. Car handles ice, snow and mud extremely well. AWD system is much better than i expected. I have had no mechanical problems and now at 115,000 miles. I was thinking about trading in, but had detailed and looks and drives like a new car. i think i will get another 50,000 miles at least. Only problem is with sunroof. After about 5 years, two of the guide covers fell off, but did not impact operation - just looks when open. About a year ago, sliding roof quit working. I don't use so am not getting repaired. It still pops up for ventilation which i use. I still like the looks better than the newer versions. Very clean lines without a lot of trip parts. The 22 inch chrome wheels really gives the car a sporty look. I would highly recommend the car. Has been great for me for a variety of roles.

DRIFTING PROBLEM
I drive a 2014 Edge and will advise others not to buy one. It starts and it runs but has a inherint design flaw with it's suspension. On a right sloping lane it will drift to the right if you take your hands off the sterring wheel and on a left sloping lane it will drift left . A 4 wheel alignment will not stop the drift. Neither will rotating the tires, nor will buying new tires help. Ford is hiding this problem. If you buy an Edge and complain to a Ford dealership about a drifting problem they will patronize you and fill your head with gobblygook untill you finally give up and go away. The powerful billion dollar company abuses the working class consumer Paul in Canads
