I bought my 2012 Ford Edge around Thanksgiving of 2011 and wrote a review in January. Wanted to update. I drove 1200 miles through Wyoming and then the mountains of Colorado recently. While AWD Edge is rated at 25 mpg, I consistently get better mileage than that. My first long trip right after purchase was a little better than 22 mpg. Most recent trip averaged 29.4 on one tank. With wind, it dropped to 27+. Driving it daily around town and home in the country, average is 24.5. My husband, who has a heavier foot, gets the same. My mileage is so great that I wondered if they stuck the wrong engine in it.

2012 AWD SEL v-6. Bought used in 2015 (47K). Now has114K, Solid vehicle, good ride. Currently on 2nd set of tires. Regular maintenance. Negative experience with SNYC system. Split replacement costs with Ford ($950 total cost). Replaced rotors and pads at 100K (done at home). Installed aftermarket trailer hitch. Short hauls with 1 ton loads. No problems. Replaced one front strut assembly (again done at home). Will probably replace other strut and rear shocks in next year. Vehicle has proven very reliable on extended trips. Fuel mileage better than expected (especially when using cruise control). Installed aftermarket cool air intake. Cannot verify (did not baseline) but vehicle does feel "peppier" and gas mileage did improve. Consider this Edge to be a solid investment with minor flaws only when one overlooks the SYNC (which does work but is a flawed unit). The Edge sans the SYNC rates as 5 stars, when factoring the SYNC 4 stars. Vehicle now has 144K. Had my most expensive repair ($4.3K) in the form of a rebuilt transmission. The primary cause (MHO) was due to towing in excess of OEM weight. Live and learn. Most recently the PTO (I call it a transaxle) needed to be replaced. Probable cause. towing and my failure to change the fluid in a timely manner. The AWD PTO is both difficult to service and is surrounded by multiple heat sources. Not a good design, but if you own an AWD Edge you need to change the fluid every 20-30K. I did not and it cost me $3K.

I’m a preowned manager in the business for over 20 years. I purchased a 2012 SEL model with AWD and 31000 miles as a recent trade in for my wife. She was driving a 40000 mile Toyota Avalon Limited which made her feel ‘old’ LoL!! She wanted an SUV with AWD. What a ride!! She LOVES it. It’s Modern with the Bluetooth and infotainment system. Ride and visibility are fantastic and the comfort and versatility are second to none. VERY HAPPY!!! Recommend! From a guy in the BIZ!!!!! 😉

We purchased a 2012 Edge Sport at 20k miles. We are now 1.5 years in and have taken the car to the dealer several times. Today, we are at 40k miles and have done and alignment, new tires, battery, throttle fuel line when the car stopped working, break booster when the breaks were not working properly, panoramic roof lining, led bulbs in taillight. Now, the dealer is asking us to pay $215 to update and clear code U0401. At this point, the only thing I want to do to get rid of my ford. We love the interior, features and look of the SUV but absolutely feel insecure of the stability. We are waiting for the next thing to break.

I got my ‘12 Edge new and I have almost 120,000 miles on it. It has been a fantastic vehicle! I’ve had no major issues, it’s comfortable, a good size, good gas mileage, and fantastic in the snow - an all around great vehicle. Just in the last year are small things starting to go wrong. The back-up camera doesn’t work properly - sometimes not at all, sometimes upside down, once in a while it works properly. The a/c tube got plugged last summer and it was fixed at the dealership. A couple of weeks ago the same thing happened. Minor issues. I’ve been doing a lot of research for my next vehicle and the bar hs been set high with this Edge. It was definitely a great buy!
