Its all right
I bought my Contour 3 months ago and i runs pretty well but in the winter time it's a piece of junk. The VSS went out on me; that was only real big thing that went on me.
Been a Good lil Car!
I bought this car since we had two kids, and the other car I had was a Beretta, (two door). We needed a 4 door. The car is quick, and comfortable. My wife loves driving the car. The only complaint is the oil leaks! When I first bought it it was leaking from what appeared to me was the front gear cover and oil pan. It wasn't too bad, now it is definitely getting worse. You can smell the oil burning on the exhaust when it leaks. So now it is time to fix it, but not sure I want to spend the $850 the dealer wants to repair. Car has 97k on it got it used with 62k. Have had no real problems with it. Just maintenance 26 mpg.
GREAT CAR!!
This is a great car. Best one I've bought.
Money pit
We purchased this car with 98,000 miles on the odometer from a reliable individual we'd dealt with before. Here's a short list of what's gone wrong with the car: 1st year: The fuse block had a meltdown and had to be replaced ($500). 3rd year: At appx. 120,000 miles the transmission failed ($1,000). 4th year: Battery coupling ($100) There's other numerous repairs that have added up to over $5,000.These are not normal 'wear and tear' items, just poor design. The worst thing is that we paid $4800 for the car and after all the repairs we could've actually bought a good car.
Dependable car I will miss driving!
After 8 years with no expenses (aside from basic maintenance), I have had a great experience with the Contour. I only wish Ford didn't discontinue the line! This car brought me back and forth across the country with great control, comfortable handling and no problems. After 120,000 miles and many years, its time to move on. I hope my next car treats me as well as the Contour has!
