2015 Ford C-Max Emergi

I have owned over 35 vehicles in my life. Cars, trucks and everything in between including a Nissan Leaf. This is without a doubt the best vehicle I have had so far. Great interior and comfort. Great stereo system. Room for 4 tall adults easily. Fantastic visibility. Great power and handling. Fantastic gas mileage. I average between 58mpg and 65mpg on my daily drive to work and back. My only complaint is the huge battery takes up most of the cargo area and for the price of this vehicle it should have a backup camera included but it does have backup sensors. This is a fantastic vehicle and I do not understand why Ford does no advertising on it. I hope they are not going to phase it out because that would be a huge mistake.

The energi version is the one we bought as the higher price was offset by the government tax rebate - thus the upgrade was free. However, this is our run-around-town car, so the limited trunk space wasn't a problem. If space is essential, stay with the hybrid version. Our car will go about 16-20 miles on the battery only, just depends on the time of year (less in the cold weather).

Super Ford C Max

I bought a 2015 C Max last year (2021) and since my wife and I were looking for a gas saver with decent interior room C Max was an option. Please if you are looking for the ultimate gas saver from this model year and that's all you want buy a Prius, I didn't want a Prius for personal reasons obviously, to me they look boring so the interior and the handling is not the best and yes I have driven many Priuses. The C Max has a waaay nicer interior and personally better ergonomics, handles really well and 20 miles of electric range for my needs was the way to go. I don't think Ford was really trying to take the crown from the Prius on fuel consumption. Ford wanted a hybrid that was a better overall round package and they nailed it regardless of what reviewers think. You are the best reviewer, test drive a C Max and a Prius and you'll see what I mean. Seats comfort worked amazingly for me since my back bothers me on trips over 3 hours long and honestly they offer better comfort than those in our 2016 Jeep GC Summit. Our C Max is equipped with the ultra rare on C Max parallel parking assist option, isn't that crazy? Our Jeep doesn't and is the top of the line for 2016 and I'm not pretending is better than the Jeep overall. The C Max has being an amazing little car for our family of four, two adults, an eight and a nine years old, does it has tons of power? Nope, is a hybrid but is peppier than the Prius. For those interested in a C Max make sure your used C Max has LRR tires to get the most out of its saving gas potential. Test drive a C Max and you'll love it. I have been a getting around 36-37 MPG (gas engine) on highway with NON LRR tires wich I will get soon. Keep in mind that I own a C Max Energi that has an extra battery than the regular C Max for the electric drive and that makes the vehicle heavier. Prius was used as a reference since is the direct competitor of the C Max.

The safety features saved me

I had this car for a short time. Than I had a horrific crash. My little c-max was totaled. But I walked away (after they pried me out of the car). The safety features definitely did their job. Even the folks at the body shop, it was towed to, said they were surprised when I showed up the next day (I wrecked it on a Sunday) they assumed I was in a hospital and would not be showing up for awhile. But the car was a lot of fun to drive. I traded in a focus when I bought it. The C-Max is built on a focus chaise so the handling was very similar. Which is to say it handles very well. The acceleration takes a little getting used to, because it accelerates very fast, but makes no noise. If you are switching from gas to electric beware of that, you can find yourself going 60 MPH in a 35 zone without even realizing you are speeding. My only complaint about the car is the my ford touch system is rather crumby. But they did change that in 2016. Also if you can find one with a backup camera that is a nice feature. Ford decided to make the backup camera an expensive option, so most don't have it. But I must say, because this car is three years old a lot of them are coming on the market as people turn in their leases. if you are looking for a good used car that gets great mileage and is fun to drive, you will love the C-Max.

Impresive

Have had the C-Max for 18 months now. Its been a great ride, very fun, quick and feels great to drive. A very good job from ford, everything feels great and such a good job of automating the car where lights, wipers and everything is automatic. The car is very well executed, although CVT, it feels right and has good acceleration. Power and handling both are good up to 90 MPH and above that this is not so fun, making it better suited for City and traffic, particularly great electric only ride in heavy traffic with out turning on the engine at all up to 85 MPH. Being in LA, have just done 20,000 miles and looking forward to many more. This is no prius, the higher seating, weight and drive feel more like a cross between a mini minivan and a hot hatchback (which is very heavy at almost 4,000 pounds). My best tank MPG was about 85 MPG, almost 1,100 miles a 12 gallon tank and least has been around 65 MPG. I am due for a second oil change shortly, making it 10,000 interval for maintenance which is always a good bonus. Not much I would fault the car for, maybe a bit higher ride and ground clearance be good but I do like the ride. I got the plug in, but the hybrid only ones were more fun, much lighter and sharper rides. I do have passengers often and the back seat is very comfortable. Ford has a winning formula for the car of the future, size, power and the whole package.
