Used 1997 Eagle Vision Consumer Reviews
1995 Eagle Vision Esi
A fun to drive car. Purchased in Whitehall, Ohio in 1997, then shipped it to Germany in 2001. Experienced minor problems (normal wear and tear). Ran great on the German AUTOBAHN.
It won't die
I bought this car from a friend about 3 years ago, it is now turning 175,000 miles and it just won't die, actually getting tired of hitting my head getting into the car as I am all of 5,9". Love the hide away cup holders and mystic purple color. Things not so great, a/c is dead, clips that hold the windshield wipers lines in place broke and can't replace as they don't make this car anymore. In 3 years I have replaced the belts, spark plugs and the oil. That is about it. Oh and for winter driving. I can plow through 2 foot snow drifts and thankfully not get stuck.
Fast Luxury
For 13 years, this car has been reliable and extremely fun to drive.
Good Car
Definitely a good choice to go with the 3.5L engine. Has needed some major work including air conditioner condenser and a new rack & pinion. After 83k miles, still has good struts and the interior shows little wear. Put higher performance tires, Bosch Platinum +4 Spark Plugs, and a K&N Air Filter on the car to give it a little more get-up-and-go. All-in-all it is a great car.
BEST CAR EVER MADE IN THE USA
I can say that these cars are Fantastic! The 3.5L Makes this car really get up and go! The mileage Is about 25 mpg, And parts for these vehicles are very Inexpensive, It is to bad they do not make them Any more. THE BEST VEHICLE EVER MADE IN USA!!!
Good Fast Car
This is easly one of the best cars I've owned in this class. It is reliable, fast off the line and very comfortable maintenance has been minamal and the handeling is good. It makes me miss my 1969 Chevelle. Although I'm not happy with Chryslers powertrains of late (with the transmission problems they have) I'm hoping for the best from this car.
Have loved this car
I have had this car for over five years now. A couple of times I have been tempted to trade it in on a new one, but have decided that I still like the Vision better. Had rattles and shakes at the beginning, but they were all cleared up. Acceleration is great, hiway mileage is around 30.
Eagle Vision TSI
Initially a 70K warranty. In warranty..Transmission replace, Fuel injection replace, Tie-rod ends, Trunk lid rusted out. After warranty...Hood nose rusting, headlights fogged lenses, doors creak, transmission slipping again, traction control not working, front struts bad.
Tsi Buyer Beware
Eagle Vision Tsi Owners and Future Buyers Beware. This was a great and fun car when we first got it. Slowly but surely it will start falling apart on you. Serious electrical problems everywhere. Door locks, trunk, alarm, ignition switch. Stalling. Paint peeling on any plastic areas, bumpers, rear window panels. Good Luck. :-(
just keeps on kicking
I bought this car from a friend a couple of years back and now it is over 175,000 miles and just won't quit. The a/c is dead and the clips to the windshield wipers fluids tubers are broke, can't replace these either but it always starts no matter the weather and kicks snow out of the way better than most trucks I have driven ( 2 foot snow drifts? this car laughed at them). The check engine light also goes on for no reason. Have had it on the computer half dozen times without any problems. Get up and go is great, passes other vehicles easily. Oh and if your taller than 5'7" your going to hit your head almost every time getting into this pretty little car. I love my purple beast.
EagleVisionESI
When the tempeture gets 50 degrees or lower, the steering rake make a grinding noise. The struts are already worn out at 80k miles. And there's too much play in the brake pedal.
Enjoyable and reliable car
I have owned my TSI for 10 years now and have no serious complaints. It has been a very reliable car; virtually zero problems with no time in the shop except for routine maintenance. It's very peppy and fun to drive with a nice firm handling suspension unusual in large American cars of the time. Both the interiors and exteriors barely show their age and it is still a stylish new looking car after all these years.
happy driver
12 years ago, I bought this car for my wifes birthday. Now, I drive it to work. My 83 mile commute is a blast. Even though the car has 162000 miles on it, it still gets up to 90 when I pass. I have only spent about 1000 in parts over the past 5 years. My total cost per mile is about $0.17 over the lifetime of the car. It still gets 27 miles per gallon. I could not be happier with this vehicle.
a great car, beats ever new model of other makes
easily one of the best cars i ever owned. wish that they were still being made. i would own a new one now. got 32 to 34 mpg on the open high way. great car.
Hi Performance Sedan
I've always liked sedans for their ride and have nothing but compliments for this car. Even after six years this car still has great acceleration and handling. Only two minor problems...power steering pump years ago and hard starting some times (cold). Otherwise, terrific!
Great Full Size Sedan
This full size sedan has been nothing short of a stellar vehicle. I have literally traveled all over the country from coast to coast with the car and it has been a champion over time. Not to mention, I have gotten some great looks for its style and looks. Definitely a great buy!!
70K and Bullet proof
Bought this car as a leftover in 1998 for $16,000. 3.5 motor has plenty of power. Car handles great! Soft ride, great control Repair costs have totalled about $100 since brand new. A little rough on the front rotors, 2 sets in 60k. Holds 5 people in comfort. Would buy this car again in a heartbeat.
If you can find one... buy it!
This car is great car in almost every area ecept for city gas mileage. Once it hits the highway you can expect around 30 - 35 mpg. Other than that one issue, I love mine. Lots of power, great looks, low maintenance costs and every feature imaginable for a car of this class.
Better than a Timex
I bought this car when it had 83,000 miles on it and it was 5 years old. I feel it is the most reliable car I have ever owned. 202,000 miles with regular maintenance. It does wear out front rotors quickly, I've replaced them 3 times. The only repair I have made is a new serpentine belt and a radiator. A/C has a slow leak but its nearly 10 years old. I love this car, it accelerates well, rides smooth and has plenty of interior room.
Good hiway vehicle
Trans overhauled 59000 miles, two Right Front trans axels, stalls for no reason on occasions of high humidity and heat with in the first few minutes of driving. Dealer has no answer, fuel system very poor on second fuel sensor and fueling system takes forever to refuel vehicle, dealer says 1000.00 to replace fuel tank. Chrysler won't admit it it defective. A/C repaired 59,000 miles.
Love my Eagle
Had a few problems with the Transmission. No trouble since. Regular maintenance keeps it going. Ride is excellent. Very quite. Love the climate control feature. Always starts. Excellent exceleration. When you want to go it goes!
95 eagle vision ESI
Purchased the vehicle new in '94 and have 95000 miles on it. I have been very pleased with the performance - lots of power, gets 29 mpg on long highway trips. In addition, there haven't been any serious mechanical problems to date, except the alternator was replaced at 85000 miles and the air conditioner was repaired twice under warranty.
Eagle Vision
vehicle is that it was very tempermental about its fluid. changed it lubes every 3000 but if I waited till 3001 you could tell a difference in how it drove. In the 2 years car stalled out twice. Happen when I put in cheap fuel. fuel treatments solved this in with oil changes. Overall this is one of the best cars I have ever owned. The only reason we parted with it is because it was recently totaled. One last thing. You can really feel the road with this car which is a plus to me. If you run over a rock you will feel it. Drives great on Snow and Ice.
Nice driver
Replaced transmission at 95,000 kms, while is going again at 175,000 kms. Had starter problems, control module and strut problem. Gets 29-32 mpg while rides beautifully. Not worth anything now with Eagle line discontinued. Engine seems solid.
Good, But.....
This car is very comfortable. I kept up with oil changes very well. The car is nice, handles well, and can stand a bump or two. Had problems when it hit 150,000. Transmission just died on my way to work. No warning, no light, no slipping, just up and died. That is the only reason my rated the reliability 8. Car was perfect, if not for that.
Purple Vision
I bought the car at about 145,000 miles and it now has 180,000. Had to replace water pump, headlights, and there is a problem with the wireing harness to the cooling fans which can be fixed by bypassing the fuse box in the car to the one in the motor compartment. The transmission just went out but only the clutch part not the gears. The A/C went out at about 170,000.
don't buy
Nothing but problems. This car is a total piece of junk and I will never buy a Chrysler product again.
The Review
breaks down constantly
The best car I ever drove!
This is truly an awesome car. I still haven't managed to find a flaw.
notsoregaleagle
first off i really do like my eagle esi.if it were not for the faulty electrical problems(corrrosion of major wires)and the never ceasing front end problems this car could be a high 9 in ratings.interior is roomy and comfortable.the 3.3 i have even at 163,000 miles + still has no loss in pickup.body has been solid and is just starting to show trunk lid rust.my big beef though has been with the front end components of the car.at 56000 mile i had to replace the rack and pinion components, the ball joints and connecting rods and struts.since then it has been 4 more complete sets of ball joints and tie rod ends.
Car keeps going and going and going....
I purchased my eagle vision from a widowed lady in nevada, 2007. Very minimal maintenance. I've had to replace 3 fan motors and the AC doesn't work. December 2022 the odometer stopped working 251,000 mi. I drive this car everyday to work 60 mi. round trip. It's the end of July, 23. Still running strong.
