Great Tow Vehicle

This truck with a diesel will move mountains. With a travel trailer (7000 lbs.) in tow and a 600 lbs. quad in the bed, this baby rides like a dream. You can't feel anything behind you. Granted, the truck rides a little rough when empty, but when loaded, it smoothes right out. It's designed for the load and it shows. Loaded down, mountains rarely slow you down, the torque is awesome. I've driven Silverados, but go with the Dodge.

the truck is solid been driving for a few hundred miles now and i really like it. there is lots of power for when you need to get up to speed. the ride comfort is what you would expect from a heavy duty truck. i average 22 mpg on the hwy and 20 in the city. its worth the money. yes the interior quality is not the best but its ok. good truck. i drove a 2003 ford f250 with the 6.0 the aceleration sucked and the turbo lag was horrible. i would rev it all the way up to 3500 rpm and it would barley move the the dodge is a better choice.

I love it! And I really love the gas mileage,I have got 28 MPG on a curvy uphill state highway! This thing almost has too much power for its own good!!! We tow a 7,500 lb bumper pull Travel Trailer up the rocky mountains and still get 15 MPG! I also tow a 16ft trailer that i tow a 3,500 Lb Antique Tractor and It pulls it like a piece of thread.

I bought this '06 Ram Diesel when it had 51000 miles and it runs great. I changed all the fluids with synthetic but am staying with Delo 400 15-40 for the engine and changing it every 5000 mile along with a fleetguard filter. I added an AFE stage 2 intake, BD tranny pan, and Smarty Jr. Recent trip from Denver to Seattle averaged 19.7 mpg unloaded at average speed of 70. Did not burn a drop of oil. The dealer changed the ball joints and u-joints when I bought the truck. I can see these are going to be a weak area but the Cummins diesel can't be beat. I was a Chevy person for 30 years and even though I loved the Silverado I will drive this Dodge till it won't go anymore.

Cummins Diesel will tow anything on you can think of. But the downfall on my truck is the front suspension components and the weak transmission. I love the truck to death, yet hate the front components. Family of five can go on 1000+ mile trips comfortably while refueling only once. The enormous fuel tank allows this. Added 4.5Inch Exhaust, AFE Stage 2 Intake and also a Hypertech Econ Tuner to increase fuel mileage. My truck is definitely a workhorse!

This is a diesel megacab, 2WD review. 93000 on the odometer-maybe will be called the best overall vehicle I've owned. On the road 22.4 mpg, in town 19-no hot doggin, and yes, the truck is capable of spinning the tires- whenever. Great room for a big/tall guy, and the person behind him. Not an intown vehicle-is not a short radius turner, and at 7600#, it doesn't handle or brake like a Porsche. But it is a very capable truck. Ride is truck like. Removed a leaf in the rear to help soften ride-I don't haul much. Three decided mfg. defects- engine has a breather tube which drips black engine oil, exhaust pipe too short-soots the rear quarter panel, spokes on wheel (al) had chatter marks.

Best truck, best vehicle I have ever had. Cummings will pull anything you have. Added larger tires to fill in wheel wells. Went from 265/70-17 to 285/70-17 added about 1 inch in height. Does very well off road. Get 19-20 city and 20-22 highway. If you are looking for a porsche ride go buy a porsche. This is a truck and rides accordingly. The only thing that has broken on it so far is the power seat. It will go up, back, forward but not down. Love the option of a sun roof. Huge back seat. Had to sit in it a couple of times. Love the fact that the back seat reclines. I will drive the truck until it falls apart.

I have loaded it down with 3+ tons of tile and it handled as if nothing was in it. It has been on various trip which required 4X4, with a quick turn of the nob I was climbing a muddy hill or going through sand. Size does matter, the room in the back fits 3 full sized adults (6' plus) and they had plenty of leg room, without touching the front seats.

What a truck! Nothing compares. I can go on and on about so much I like about the truck. However, the leather seats are too hard. Air conditioning does not blow out hard enough for AZ weather. And the air vent flaps are to restrictive. For a $50,000 truck the seats should be more comfortable. It is a truck though, one kind of a truck!

Traded in my 04' Quad Cab 2500 diesel for the new Mega Cab. Couldn't be happier. More horsepower, more options, and the kids don't kick the back of my seat anymore! I got every single option except the snow plow! Love the navigation and overhead DVD is great - kids can even select a satelite station to listen to in the back seat. Great new color too - Khaki metallic. It's beautiful with 4" lift and Weld wheels with 35" Toyo mud terrains.

I just traded my 2005 Ram 2500 QC 4WD SB ST w/ HEMI+M5 to a 2006 QC 4WD SB SLT w/ Cummins+A4. The HEMI + M5 tranny were OK, but a bit weak, and hard on gas at 11mpg (13 on a very good day). The M5 wasn't particularly good at in-town driving. Highway driving wasn't any better because of too much gear. The Cummins + A4 is a different story. When empty, the truck is quite sporty and the A4 has pretty decent road manners. I can't wait to put it to the towing test. Fit and finish are very good on the '06. Road and engine noise are quite acceptable. Overall, a very good, powerful, truck for the money.

I can't believe the power of this vehicle! Everything I need in a work horse to a family vehicle all in one. Its fun to drive! The torque can definitely pull everything i use it for. I usually pull a 8x24 triple axle enclosed trailer loaded with equipment. the Diesel Power pulls the trailer with absolutely no problems at all. Even up and down the mountains of South Carolina. My kids can sit in the back without comfort being a problem. The Laramie package was always a plus with the leather seats and trim. 5" lift kit, cap, bigger tires, and a chrome brush guard makes this beast a feared vehicle on the road. I traded in the HEMI power for Diesel. The Hemi just didn't pull.

Loved this truck when I bought it, but the exhaust has rusted at 48,000 miles. Chrysler was no help, found out the truck was made in Mexico. I think for a truck that has been maintained and well taken care of should have an exhaust system that did not rust out so soon. My Chevy Duramx has held up better, no rust underneath, no problems with the truck.

Since purchasing new in August of2006 I've put 25,000 trouble free miles on this truck. I have been pleasantly surprised that the thing still feels solid with no rattles or squeeks. The 5.9 Cummins turbo diesel engine is great, tows my trailer with ease. It has over 7000 miles with thetrailer behind it so far and many more miles carrying heavyloads in the bed. The fuel mileage is decent for a 7000lb. vehicle but the mileage while towing is where it really shines. Overall I have been very pleased with this truck.

I have had constant pain in my back since purchasing this truck. In the past I have owned several Dodge products, and always liked the comfort level of the seating - this is the exception!

Bought the 4X4, diesel, in June 2009. Traded in 2006 Tundra regular cab for it. Closed box beam frame, brakes that'd stop a locomotive, and an industrial grade diesel engine - all "the" requirements for a work truck. Interior is not glamorous, but the SLT has the essentials. SB has a tight turning radius; on a dime. Stock configuration sits up high off the ground. Low gear 4X4 transfer case; climbs up anything. Sound system has good tone; MP3 player plug in. Cab is quiet. Quab cab is roomy enough for adults for <300 mile trips. All around - looks manly; not an overchromed glitz truck. Best truck for the money. 10/19/21 (owned for 12 years); and I'm still loving it. Recent verification of miles over gallons at the pump reveals 21.13 mpg - driving ~65 mph. Daily driving. Occasional pulling. Just rolled 261k on odometer. Worked out to be an investment; could get almost what I paid for it. The Cummins 5.9 HO engine makes the truck. My wife likes it, too.

This is another great truck from Dodge. The seats are a little on the firm side, but adjusting them every few hours makes the trips bearable. Pulling a 25' trailer grossly weighted at 8000 pounds, 35000 miles a year, I don't even know it's there. A change of the exhaust and the power and mileage gets better without voiding the warranty. :)

Truck of trucks. If you are looking for a heavy duty Ram, the Cummins should be your only choice especially with a 4x4. I thought hard about the mega cab but then realized I don't ride in the back seat so I stuck with the quad cab. This is my second Ram with the first being a '96. Fit and finish has come a long way in 10 years like it should. The interior is a bit boring and the plastic wood trim is horrible any way you look at it but can be replaced after market with ease. The ride is smooth, acceleration is better than I thought it would be in a diesel 4x4. Mileage is 15 according to the trip computer with mostly city driving. Stock ride height is taller than Super Duty or Chevy

I traded in a Ram 1500 with a 5.9L (gas) engine and my new 5.7L Hemi (w/auto)completely blows it away. 100 more HP and about the same gas mileage. I average around 11 MPG around town and get aroud 16 on the highway (12 towing a 4000 lbs TT). The new 2500 is exremely well designed inside and out. I have a Sport model with leather bucket seats and fixed center console and it's very comfortable and loaded with features. My wife is jealous becuase it's more luxurious than her car! Navigation and satellite radio are both fun extras that I would have never considered but ended up really liking. My only complaint is the low ride height of the 2500 2WD nose and the unattractive stock wheels.

Just got an '06 2500 SLT with the Cummins diesel. What an awesome truck. The diesel power is unbelievable. You can stomp on the gas and the truck will just run like a scalded dog. With the higher clearance you sit up above the traffic and can see everything. The color, inferno red, is spectacular. Everyone at the fire station was jealous. Interior noise is almost non exsistent with the new seals and insulation. Just that cool diesel vibration that puts the kids right to sleep. Looking forward to having this truck for a long time. Great job Dodge

Great truck for work and family. $250 chip gave me 120 hp and 3 more mpg. Took several long trips comfort and excellent fuel mileage.(but not quite as good as my 2004 2500 I had before.) I still range in the 19-21 mpg hwy if I keep it under 70. Cruising range in the 600-700 mile range. Will tow anything you hook it to have towed a 24k bachhoe with mine. And haul a 12k skidsteer regularly

I had a transmission solenoid go out around 10,000 miles causing slipping between 1st and 2nd gear. The warranty covered it but it took a special engineer to come down and isolate the problem. The truck is tough to maneuver. The megacab offers ample room inside but is not worth the sacrifice. This truck sticks out of my garage by more than a foot. Performance was lacking until an aftermarket exhaust and air intake were installed.

We bought a 2005 Laramie 2500 Dodge 4x4 with the Cummins Turbo Diesel. There isn't a diesel engine on the market as reliable (my company buys Ford, so I do have some experience). We are getting on average 19mpg out of a big, heavy 4x4 truck. When towing our boat, we don't even know it's there! Same with our Horse! If you are considering a diesel truck, the Dodge with the Cummins is the best one out there. The Cummins has fewer moving parts than the Ford or Chevy diesel engines, which means, less to fail. Power is unreal! Pulls over the Rocky Mountains with out even downshifting! Stop reading about it and go buy one!

I had an older Dodge 1500 which I hated. No power and the brakes were horrible. I went to the 06 diesel after comparing Ford and Chevy. Chevy was too expensive but has a nice transmission. Dodge had the Cummins. The brakes on the 06 are awesome. The comfort level and reliability are excellent. I pull a 50 hp Kubota tractor on a large trailor with implements with no problem. I'm getting about 18 - 20 mpg on a mix of highway and street driving. I find the back seat of the quad cab adequate for my needs. I'll be driving this truck until it or I won't go anymore.

We needed a heavy tow rig with 4 wheel drive and economy. We have had the Dodge for over 3 years and 65K on it. No problems. Have upgraded rr suspension with supersprings, swaybar and ranchos, but we carry a 3k camper and tow a 3 horse trailer with draft horses, so we are 19k going down the road. We get 13 to 14 loaded and have done 23 empty. What i liked about the truck is it is set up well stock with big exhaust, nice alloy wheels, tow package, etc. so there was not a lot it needed. My stock tires went 58k, and I just did the ft. brakes at 62k. I run synthetic fluids all around. We plan on running the Dodge for a minimum 10 years at 20k per year, so we are right on plan and happy!!!

This truck is a work horse in a business suit, black with chrome. Mileage is in the high teens if I baby it. My only complaint, the truck handles terrible. Wanders down the road and chases every groove. My F150 with 100k miles drove better than this truck the day it came off the lot new. Replaced the stearing stabilizer shock with an aftermarket and improved it somewhat. I'm the only owner, so I know it has been taken care of.

This is "THE" truck for serious truck owners. Considering all the "play" trucks from the import market that claim to be a full size truck, the Dodge Ram truely is in every way. I can't believe how well this heavy duty truck drives. Its like driving a freight train carved out of a block of steel. No rattles, creaks or growns. The Hemi motor is unbelievably powerful and the huge front and rear anti-lock disc brakes stop this mammoth truck on a dime. Fit and finish is excelent. After driving the other 2006 full-size trucks, The 2500 HD as a complete package, has no equal.

I had traded my 2003 Dodge ram Qc 4X4 for an economy car. What a mistake that was. So then I put myself back into the market for a truck. I really enjoyed my '03, but wanted to see what the others had to offer. I drove the toyota, Ford, Chevy, and Nissan. It was not hard to find my favorite. They all offer something a bit better than their competitors, but the Dodge won hands down in nearly every category. The Hemi is a very strong motor. The transmission does a great job, though a bit slow to down shift at slower speed maneuvers. The interior is logical and roomy; comfortable for long trips, as well as a daily driver. All in all, I am happy to recommend this truck to anyone.

Put 30k on in the first year. For the most part the truck is great. Have owned several Cummins Dodges. Spend a lot of time in the diesel performance arena, and nothing beats the Cummins. Considerably better trucks than my past Cummins Dodges. Better brakes, better ride, better stock power and better stability for heavy towing. Mileage will never match the older 12v's. Too much stock power and emmissions equipment to have great mileage. Still much better and more powerful than any gas engine. Will buy more Cummins Dodges. Five in the family now.

FYI, I have a 2500 Quad Cab 2wd short bed 5.9L Cummins Diesel 4 speed auto trans. I love this thing, it gets better mpg towing my 6500lb trailer then my '03 Hemi did empty. Wish the shocks were a bit firmer. Interior is simple and clean. Been real good to me so far, 2 months and 5400 miles. 13mpg towing, 20mpg empty, and with all that torque, it makes it fun to drive on the freeway, passing is a breeze, no down shifting needed.

I bought a 06 Ram 2500 Diesel with 6- speed manual quad cab, I had to have the engine computer reprogrammed due to extended starting problems, and I also had to have the A/C worked on. TIPM was replaced due to non-working horn, I bought the No Horn Package :) Other then that the truck works great, I like how quiet the engine is, I can hardly hear it while driving down the highway, steering is precise, everything works good now.

Just sold my '03 Ford fF150 fx4 and bought this Dodge Laramie QC 4x4 Diesel and I am in love! This is an awesome truck for the money! I have never had a diesel before and was a bit nervous about the noise and ride quality but after having this truck for a while I just find any excuse to get out and drive it. The fuel mileage is at 17 mpg now but will get better as time goes on. Dodge is the way of the future! Grab it by the horns.

I just purchased this truck used with 22k miles. I traded in my 01 Cummins and have zero regrets. With the six speed manual the 5.7 Hemi can be really fun to drive. The kids have plenty of room in the backseat and the front offers plenty of room for both driver and passenger.

This is my 1st diesel picked it up used with 24k on it now up to 31k and I love it. The 5.9 has all the power you need and no EPA crap like the 08. Towing is not a problem. Get the Laramie pkg. Heated seats great in the winter. QC has lots of room for the kids. I have started this thing at -20 with no plug in around, truck starts right up. If your looking for a used diesel, go with this one for sure, you will love it

An unbelievable truck. It beats the competion performance wise and well as in comfort and safety. Better than ford, Chevy, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, and GMC. You literally have to drive this truck to understand what I'm trying to tell you. If you get this truck, you will love it.

This will be the last truck I buy. I have waited years to own one and I finally do. The only thing I am looking for is more assessories and performance parts. I love this truck.

You don't have to "Dodge" them anymore. They are well built, powerful, long lasting and fun to drive. The truck has been above average on all things, fit and finish, gas mileage, handling, and most of all very fun to drive. It will spin the wheels at any moment if you get after it. No more worrying about getting into traffic, you floor board it and off it goes. In fact you have to watch the speedo. You are doing 90 before you notice, No motor noise, no wind noise, and you can actually use the drive up now without killing the engine. Great job Dodge!

X Ford, had concerns about their diesel (6.0). We choose the Ram because of the engine and body profile. The biggest factor, full 4 door (short distance, 6'plus men NOT an issue). The short wheelbase allows maneuvering in parking lots much easier than the others 4 drs, granted they have more room. Only have 2000 miles to date, so reliability is yet to be seen. Had a couple of engine lights issues, apparently cold air setting off sensors.

Fuel economy averages 10-11 MPG around town and only about 13-14 at 75 MPH. The ride is quite rough, much rougher than my '97 half ton extra cab. The Hemi engine is very powerful and runs smoothly. The truck looks stunning after it is freshly washed and earns many compliments. The room in the backseat is outstanding.

This Dodge diesel is a verry good truck, fun to drive and a lot more pickup speed than a Chevy Duramax diesel. I drove a Duramax for abought 5000 miles or so and there is no compairison to the Dodge diesel except for the fuel mileage. I get abought 15 to 16 mpg on the highway. I put on 300 to 400 highway miles on a week. Even with a k&n intake kit no better mileage. I have just over 20,700 miles on it and it's going back for the 2nd time to be looked at for the mileage problem.

I would buy this truck again. The handling and power are evident the moment you turn the key. I previously had a 2002 Lincoln Navigator 4wd and this truck out performs it by a long shot. The Laramie package has all the comforts one could want in a pickup. I also tow my 6500lb Grady-white on occasion and with the power trailer tow mirrors, there is not a blind spot anywhere. Also, my pickup has the 4.10 axle ratio to boost its tow rating and accelleration. On the inside, there is more room and comfort than I previously had in my Navigator.
