2006 Dodge Diesel
This Dodge diesel is a verry good truck, fun to drive and a lot more pickup speed than a Chevy Duramax diesel. I drove a Duramax for abought 5000 miles or so and there is no compairison to the Dodge diesel except for the fuel mileage. I get abought 15 to 16 mpg on the highway. I put on 300 to 400 highway miles on a week. Even with a k&n intake kit no better mileage. I have just over 20,700 miles on it and it's going back for the 2nd time to be looked at for the mileage problem.
Jakes 2500
Sweet truck. Drives and handles very well. It's not sloppy feeling like the other brands.

Love that turbo-diesel
Power and mileage are excellent. I can tow my Bronco with a full size camper in the bed, far more cheaply and much faster; than I can drive the Bronco by itself
5.9 Cummuns
I have the Cummins in mine and it is awesome. The fuel mileage around town is about 16.9 usually and on the highway between 20.5 and once I got 23. When the motor runs above 2000 rpm the mileage falls pretty quickly. I have the 373 gear so I can still run around 70 mph with good mileage.I have driven it off rd. on the beach in NC and it did very well the motor has so much low end that it has no trouble at all. I won't take in the mud so I won't be able to report on that,it's to nice of a truck. I plan on keeping this truck forever and hopefully it will be the last p/u I ever have to purchase. I want a Challenger, Camaro or must. Once I pay this off in around 3 yrs.

Great Truck
This is a great truck. Have had the other models but like this one the best as far as the ride and handling.
This truck is everyone I had hoped for
I have owned my 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT 4WD QUAD CAB 5.7L now about 20 months and I do not have a single complaint. It is extremely reliable and fun to drive and pretty much rides like a refined truck. I get over 15 mpg driving it easy to and from work and around town and if I drive it hard the mileage drops to around 13.5 mpg. Handling and braking are excellent as is the interior functionality and comfort with plenty of storage space under the rear seat.
Rust
Has rust on the inside of doors and not even 2 yrs old! Dealer repainted! I feel like it has cancer! Its been treated but will it come back and how bad? That speakers crackle a lot! The plastic around the fuel spout is cracking! Water will actually stain the seats! I purchased the truck with the intention of driving it till the wheels fall off! Now I am scared the body will be gone way before that!
A truck worth the money....
Excellent power, comfort, style, fuel/mileage(19 city-22 highway), good materials, worth the money. Don't like the smoke when i have to accelerate fast, can't find anything else to complain of.
This is a good truck in every way
I purchased my 2006 Dodge 2500 5.7L 4WD SLT Quad cab new. It now has about 30k on it and has been an excellent truck. Nothing has ever broken, it drives great with excellent acceleration and braking, but definitely rides like a truck. The storage space under the rear seat is great. I live in the south and the AC cools pretty good, but could be a little better. Fuel economy averages just under 14MPG, if I do all city driving it drops to around 13.5. I bought this truck to drive for years and enjoy and so far I have gotten what I paid for.
Not completely happy
I am quite disappointed with the fact that I got some bad Diesel and now my 2500 "Heavy Duty" will not run. It has been in the shop for 4 days short of a month. To beat all, neither the factory nor the extended warranty coveres this repair.
Excellent truck
Purchased the 2500 SLT 4WD QUAD with 5.7L a month ago, and couldn't be happier. You buy these things for utility, drivability, and all around looks. Fuel economy is the only negative I can see with this truck. I have been driving as fuel efficient as I possibly can, and have averaged a best of 14.2 MPG (expressway/city driving). This should get slightly better when the motor is fully broken in. The build quality is excellent as are the interior features. It brakes wonderfully, and maneuvers like you are driving a much smaller truck. I previously had a 2002 Dodge Ram 2WD, 3.7L, 5 spd. This truck was extremely reliable but severely underpowered. Overall, I have been happy with Dodge.
2006 RAM 2500 QUAD CAB SLT 4X4
I think 4x4's should come with on and off road tires standard. Highway tires are useless in the field when the ground are wet. Also they should have kept the ashtray on the dash instead of the little cupholder ashtray. And they should had kept the adjustable cup holders. Plus they need to put back the bag clip on the dashboard. Basicly I like the 2003 dash setup better than the 2006 models. I wish they kept the (DEE) 6 speed standard transmission because I got better fuel mileage with it.I'm getting 21mpg a round town and 19 on the highway running 70mph. With the tranny Iwas get 23mpg in town and on the highway 28 to 30mpg. I also I miss the power lumbar.
Overpriced & Underpowered!
My 06 2500 Hemi is the worst truck I have ever owned. It has no power. I pull a #5000 trailer and feels like I am pulling a #20000 trailer. There is no power pulling up hills and shifts all of the time. Fuel mileage is absolutely terrible. I usually get 7.5 mpg pulling and 12 mpg without. Interior is plain and overall offers nothing special. I can't wait to trade back to a Chevy/GMC. The ride is average. If you are not a die-hard Dodge fan, I guarantee you will be disappointed.
