This truck is without a doubt the best truck on the road...period! I will never own anything less than Dodge. I have tried Ford and Chevy and will never go back to either of those manufacturers.

In the first 50 miles this truck made me not even look back at my 2007 Lincoln Mark LT truck I traded in on this Dodge Mega Cab. At least when you step on the gas you could at least feel the truck move. I don't care if it only gets 12 mpg. The Lincoln only got 13 mpg and you had to worry that you cleared the intersection before the light changed. The interior room is fantastic and at least the seats are really comfortable. This truck is awesome.

This is a great truck. I have always bought Chevy trucks, but I think I am a Dodge guy now. The only bad thing about the 1500 megacab 4wd is the gas mileage, about 11 mpg.

I purchased a used (73,000 miles) 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT from a dealership. It appeared in great shape and I did my homework on this truck, but some things lurk in the shadows and come out at night.this truck fits that description. Fortunately I purchased an extended warranty, $0 deductible and it was a blessing I did. 1. Two weeks out of the purchase date the check engine light comes on. Unknown problem. $125 at dealership to determine issue. 2. A few weeks later exhaust pipe comes out of y pipe. Local garage fix for $100 3. Squeaking from engine, to dealership, unknown problem, changed fan belt determined a water leak but unknown from where. 4. In shop again suspension squeak, located water leak, replace water pump, squeak still not located not diagnosed 5. Brakes making steering issue. Brakes hanging up on rotors - was an issue for a while and rotors warped, brake job at local garage 6. Steering very loose all of a sudden, dealership inspected, flushed out, that was their solution 7. Driver's side Ball joint out, Took 3 trips to dealership to determine this. 8. Normal maintenance schedule followed - oil, trans fluids, filters etc 9. A couple months after scheduled trans maintenance Transmission all of a sudden trans slips, loses gear ratio in 3rd and 4th, loses 4 th and 3rd completely. Codes were pulled within an hour of the check engine light coming on and 7 different codes pop up. All of this was in a period of 14 months and 24K miles. No off roading, no racing, just normal driving mostly on highway and very occasionally on hard packed dirt roads. Now I know that used vehicles have some issues that will arise as they get older, as any vehicle will, but this is way too many trips to the garage to fix issues. The final straw that broke the camel's back was the transmission service completed and a couple months later the transmission blows out. Currently waiting for service day to diagnose issue. Caution on Dodge Rams....look before you leap.

I bought this truck for it's roomy interior. At 8 ft inside it is incredible. Brakes are great, in the snow it is awesome in 4 wheel drive with standard tires. I bought the truck with 111,000 miles, it is now at 149,000 and I still love it. At 55 or 60 I can get 18.7 mpg but around town at less than 2 miles to work I average 11.3 at the most. I recently purchased a 3,000 pound 5th wheel and the truck actually rides smoother with the trailer in tow. I love the ride height, my cousins Chevy with 36" tires only rides 4 inches higher than my truck at the cab top with 265 stock tires on mine.

There isn't much more that you could do on the inside to make this truck any better. It has plenty of room for just about anyone who is cabable of climbing into this beast. It's quiet and comfortable. It's hard to determine where the end of the vehicle is when backing up.

Proud Owner of a brand spanking new (12 miles on the odometer at time of purchase)1500 Mega Cab 4x4 Hemi.. It's an AWESOME Truck! Had 5 future Hemi owners with me (ranging from 6 to 10 yrs old)and they overwhelmingly approved as well. Just put 2400 miles on it getting back to where I am stationed and it was amazing how many people took interest during my travels. Had quite a few other pickup truck drivers staring hard as I drove across the country... probably wishing they were me. All I could think was.. " Yup, it's got a Hemi.."

The Mega Cab is New Comfort on the Road

I've had the Mega Cab now for several weeks and can't say enough good about this truck. Now understand, I'm 6'6" tall and weigh 300 lbs. I's not easy for me to fit into any vehicle. But the Mega Cab 1500 is more than enough for me to be comfortable. I got the upper end stereo system because I like music. It's the closest thing you can get to a custom installed job. The ride is definitely a truck ride, but much smoother than others I've tried. The handling is great with a surprisingly tight turning radius for a truck this size. Back seat comfort and storage is amazing to say the least. My friends snored in the reclining rear seats on the way home from my last trip of 1100 miles.

Lots of Room

The Megacab has a lot of room. I purchased the vehicle to have more secure space inside (like a SUV) and still have the pick-up bed. When the back seats are folded down, there is as much room in the back as a smaller SUV. It has good power and handles well for something that large. The ride is rough and can be jittery. It is better when loaded down with 500-600 lbs in the bed. Braking is not as good as other large trucks I drove. There is plenty of room in the cabin for taller people (I am 6'4"). The cab layout could be a little better. The climate controls and radio controls require the driver to lean forward to adjust. I get 15 miles per gallon on the highway and about 11 in town

I have owned Ford, Chevy, GMC, Toyota, and Nissan Titan. So I figured why not Dodge? I purchased a 2006 SLT Mega cab 2WD with the 5.7 Hemi. After my purchase co-workers were telling me "That Hemi is a gas hog". I guess that if you are used to driving a Honda Civic or one of the hybrid vehicles that would be a true statement. However if you are in the market for a full size truck you expect that 40- 50 mpg is not in your sights. I currently have 2675 miles on it. and average (with conservative driving habits) about 13.6 mpg city and 17.5 Hwy. Not bad for a 3/4 ton truck. Pulling a tandem axle trailer loaded I recieved approx 9 MPG.

Purchased in California late 2007, switched from a regular cab 1500 to the mega cab 1500. All my cars have been Dodge for the last 15 years. I'm impressed with almost every aspect of the vehicle except the ride and gas mileage. Took the family of six to Disneyland and the ride was almost unbearable going over the Altamont. Felt like we were in some sort of shaking machine. Can't imagine what this is doing to the truck. This truck is not a smooth ride unless the highway is perfect. Also I average about 10-11 mpg in the city and 13-15 on the highway. But I expected this knowing the vehicle type I was buying. I'm deciding if the ride is enough of an issue to cause me to get another vehicle.

This truck is not great on gas mileage (rual driving avg 14.3 mpg) but has gotten us out of plenty of jams and is great for family camping trips. I have pulled cars sideways out of the mud while I was in the mud (great traction even with heavy and difficult load to pull). The best feature of this truck though is the internal space, you have to see it from the inside to grasp how big it actually is (comfortably fits 5 full grown men for long trips).

Replaced my '01 Ford F-150 SuperCrew with this '06 Mega Cab. A lot more truck in just about every way. After 3 months and 4000 miles I'm not disappointed. Great to drive, a super comfortable interior, good styling, and reasonable mileage given its size and weight. Since mileage seems to be everyone's biggest issue, I'm getting right at 12mpg in mixed driving around town and to work, and just got three consecutive tanks between 15-16 on a 1400 mile round trip to Wisconsin. Again, not bad given the truck weighs 6000+. Overall, I'm very happy with my decision to buy this truck.

Hands down the most powerful truck I've ever owned. This truck is a top performer with the carrying and pulling capacity of a deisel. Pulls a trailer full of quads, loaded down with minimal effort. You'd hardly know you were pulling a trailer if were not for the rearview mirrors. Never owned a Dodge before this one. Mega Cab has the most spacious rear seat, great for long hauls. Mega cab styling is a head turner and powerful hemi an added bonus. I purchased this truck for my wife who has always driven SUV's. She wanted it for the long trips to Baja and the Grand Mesa in Colorado. I wanted it for pulling five full size quads plus trailer. Fuel economy? Minimal but acceptable. Santa Ana, Ca.

From the moment I looked one over, I knew that would be buying it. Its all about the interior space. This thing is like having a full sized SUV but with a truck bed on the back. Rear seat occupants up to 6'1" have fully extend their legs and reclined the rear seat while I sit comfortably in the drivers seat. I recently went on a 3 day trip to Baton Rouge from Houston. Incuding myself, we went with 4 adults and 1 child. All of our luggage fit behind the rear seat easily and we all were more than comfortable with the amount of space that each passenger enjoys. As far as the engine goes I have one word, "sublime". Can't say enough about the build quality either. This thing is the bomb.

Just had it for the last 2 weeks, Love it. Quality is up to the MOPAR Par. First trip in it, 265 miles. Got just over 20 MPG on this trip, I drove the speed limit,(65MPH) Fantastic. Ride was more than comfortable. Performance is up to the '69/72 Standard only smoother and just as fast if not faster. Keep it up Chrysler/Dodge.

The Mega cabs are perfect for a growing family. The rear doors are over-sized and open to a full 90 degrees. The rear seats lean back, besides folding down and the leg room is better than car out there. The only flaw is the side view mirrors do not have the auto-dimming feature like the rear view mirror has. At night the side view mirrors, which are very large, cast a lot of light into the cab when another vehicle is behind you.

I have the Big Horn Edition and love all the add ons it has. This is my first Hemi and I don't really notice much difference from the 4.7 liter until after 2nd or 3rd gear. Otherwise, It has a lot more power. I just installed an AirRaid intake and it makes a huge differance. Much more responsive and sounds great! I also notice that the ride of the 06' is much smoother and handles bumps great. Also, the cabin is quiet until I added the intake :) I did not get the 4X4 and regret it, but I would only us it like 2-3 times out of the year anyways.

Performance matters. Appearance matters. Interior space matters. I have never owned a Dodge product before the MegaCab. The power of Ford and Chevy engines are insignificant when compared to the power of the force (whoops) HEMI. The steering has excellent feel. No ambigous power steering feel. Power off the line is smooth and consistent. Interior space is tremendous. A good amount of storage behing the massive rear seat.

Love the style and roomy Mega Cab interior. Plenty of low end torque but you suffer with terrible fuel economy both in town and highway. Air conditioning cannot handle additional cab size on warm days with the family. Customer service and dealer repair service is the worst of the big three. I would never buy another Damiler Chrysler product! Have been waiting 18 days for a climate control part to fix the non working air conditioning. More excuses than good news from all parties.

I just traded my '06 ram 1500 SLT hemi v8 4x4 Quad cab after 1 year of ownership. I owned 2 Ford F150 FX4 crew cabs before this. No comparison. you get what you pay for and that is why dodge's are cheaper. Not only did the truck depreciate by $10,000 in a year without any damage, high mileage, or the like, but my confidence in it's reliability is to the point that I'm biting the bullet and eating all the inequity in my next deal. Terrible ride, they might as well call it an extended cab, the transmission has had issues, rear window leaked, it didn't crank on two occasions and couldn't be diagnosed, and you don't want to hit a bump going 70mph or more, especially in bad conditions.

Hemi power is a joke, could not spin the tires on wet grass. Starts to pull a little after 4000 rpm. I tow a two place snomobile trailer loaded and feels like the brakes are on. Ride is rough and choppy for a long wheel base. I have replaced all ujoints, tie rods, wheel bearings, ball joints, shocks and still it wanders all over the road. With some aftermarket add ons i can now pass for a sober driver but have to work at it.Still has a vibration at 75 that no one can fix.Sterio sounds really good when it feels like powering up but wont half the time.Rear power windows roll up and down great but only when they want to. 12 mpg on a great day but normally 9 or so.

Dodge design is best in class. Ride is nice but can be choppy on turns. A/C and heat continue to be problems for Rams. When either is on it feels like engine is about to die trying stay on and idle fluctuates heavily. Heat takes forever to heat up. A/C is adequate at best during really hot days. Brakes are weak for such a big truck and can be scary during bad weather conditions. No power passenger seat. That stinks for the passenger. Gas economy with MDS is a myth. I get nowhere near 18MPG HWY.

This truck is great to put my 3 car seats in. Tons of room. Gas mileage w/4:10 gears 11.5-12.3 city, highway @75 13-15.5 mostly 13 though. I took a trip drove 75-80 got 12.8. Towing, the power is there the mileage is horrible pulled about 2000lbs got 9.3 towing mostly up hill. ON the way back got 10.9 mostly@75 both ways . But over all I really love the truck. Things seem to be holding up very well. I got the Laramie w/dvd&nav those are great features. The kids love it. This truck does not have the performance/mileage but more room and handles loads better than the 04 I used to have but it does o.k. I wish this was a diesel but it is a good truck and people in the back are compfortable.

Driving this truck for a little over a year. Great. I'm 5'3" female, this truck handles beautifully. The back seat has plenty of room for full size adults, plus the seats recline and they fold down flat, unlike every other 4-door truck I looked at where the back seat bottoms folded up. Also like the hidden storage behind the back seat. Haven't had any trouble with my A/C. MPG 15 HWY and 12-13 in town. Do not like the fact that when I open the driver's door from the inside all the doors unlock (personal safety issue). Also wish the radio still played/windows rolled up/down after the key was turned off and radio went back to low volume after shut off/restart (my crappy Ford did that).

The best truck I ever owned as far as comfort. Fuel mileage is another subject, I don't know how everyone else that has rated the truck says the mileage is so great, I get 10 mpg! The truck has 2000 miles. The dealer said it has to break in more, but I can't imagine it improving to 15 mpg like I was told. I'm not the type to put the pedal to the metal. I'm afraid to tow anything with unless I take out a loan.
