Good From Far...But Far From Good!!
My sister-in-law leased the truck new, I purchased the truck with 35000. In less than a year I have had to replace plugs & wires twice, flushed the fuel system twice (professionally), installed a K&N Air filter, and replaced the intake manifold gasket. That was all to get rid of cylinder 8 misfires. The Front main seal was leaking oil at 38000 miles. The rear axle was shot at 37000 and the factory made me pay $500 to replace verything. The trim in the interior feels like It's made of cheap plastic..oh, it is. I thought the bigger 360 would have some guts to it...not really. Im going for a Chevy or GMC...soon.
Decent truck for 1998
Still nice driving down the road even hitting bumps other than my Flowmaster 40 I put in it, very quiet. My issues are with the upper and lower ball joints, the AC evaporator and the heater core. The AC has been out for years, the heater core leaks and the ball joints went two years ago. To get to the heater core and evaporator you have to take the whole dash out, about $400 in labor alone. The ball joints were replaced with actual ones that CAN be greased. Failed rear seat lever.

Don't listen to the negative reviews
I've had this car for a year and a half and let me tell you it's a great truck. Never had any major problems with it at all. Great on and off road truck. Having both a Yukon and a dodge ram, the dodge definitley gives you a better ride when you are going off road. Would recommend to anyone.
dont get one
i have a 1998 ex cab 2x4 1500 sport with a 318 and auto trans the truck rides good and looks good but that were it stops the wiring had been trouble since day 1 in and out of the shop about ever 2-3 mths or so the trans is pure junk the motor is strong but the cooling sys. ant very good and the miles per gallon stink
Hottest Truck on the Road
I bought this truck in 1997 and I haven't had any problems with it. After 75000 miles I need to replace the brake pads. I drove this truck from Alabama to Calif. and back it is a great riding truck. With blue stripes running down the white body it looks fast sitting still. I get alot of comments about how good it looks even now after 5 years. I may never sell it.
My Dodge Truck
Best truck on the market in '98. I enjoy the interior room and towing capability. Looks great too.
Dodge for life
I personaly love this vehichle, it's not only a blast to drive, but i turns everyone's head while im driving down the street. I recomend this vehichle to every truck lover in the world. I have 130,000 miles on my truck, and it is running stronger than ever!!
A real work truck!
I have a 1998 Ram with a 5.9L V8. I bought it stock and now it has 6" (3" Rancho, 3" body) of lift, 35" BFGoodrich All-Terrains. I use my truck hard and it has proven to hold up to my abuse. The only things I have had to fix are normal maintenance issues. I tow a 5500lb K5 Blazer on an 18' trailer with my truck now, and I can pass F-150s with the Triton 5.4L while towing. This is a great truck and will do what you need!
98 Quad-Cab 4x4
I bought this truck new in Feb of 1998.I didnt order it because I needed a good reliable truck right then. My 85 Ford 4x4 was breaking down faster then I could keep up with it. So I bought my Dodge off the lot. The truck has preformed great. Very comfortable interior, great looking exterior. These trucks are like the vehicles of years gone by when you could tell the make and model from a 1/2 mile away. Now most vehicles all look the same. You have to walk up close to see the name badge to see what it is, but not the Dodge Ram. You can tell it's a Ram from a mile away
love my truck
well, reading the bashing statements from other people crack me up, i guess they don't think that chevy and ford have there problems. As far as the brakes, they are made by "G.M." so there's your problem. i agree the brakes are defiently under par, but in atlanta traffic there going to be a issue. i've driven my truck very hard for 80,000 miles now, bringing it to the drag strip every weekend for about 2 years straight, and now every weekend towing a 4,000 lb. car. As far as the power goes, at least once a week i blow a chevy away. I love my truck, and wouldn't tell anyone not to buy one!
5.2l ram 4x4
This has been a very good truck, very reliable. I haul building supplies etc. with it very often. I have a slide in camper. The truck seems to handle weight OK after air bags were installed. I find the steering to be poor and non responsive. Engine runs well and has adequate power, but fuel economy is much worse than expected.
Great Truck to drive / own
This has been a great truck to drive and own. This is my first Dodge truck after Fords and Chevys and have always liked std cabs and this one is enormous. I applaud Chrysler for this great truck
Good All Around Truck
I have had this truck for almost 2 years. It has 90k miles and giving it a tune up and changing fluids is the only thing I've ever had to do. It is very dependable and tows my 18ft fishing boat with ease. Very impressed with limited-slip rear end and engine torque. I can pull boat up very slippery ramps with little or no wheel spin and it's a 2W drive.
Buy at your own risk!
I had this truck for about 3-4 years now. I like it, but It keeps breaking down from something; first, an electrical problem, then the transmission, then the water pump, finally, another electrical problem; Whatever you do, do not buy one if you do not want to spend a lot of money on it so it could break down on you
Love the truck but it has issues like most vehicle
If you buy from a dealership always get a warranty regardless of condition but if you buy from an individual make a thorough inspection of the vehicle in my opinion they are great trucks very reliable and tough as nails I would recommend this truck to everyone

The little rust Express
Over all a very nice little truck with a proven power plant 318.Once I got the floorboards replaced and new cab mounts and fender replacement the short bed 2wd is a tough truck, great for towing with power to spare after a few mods.

Ram Tough
This truck has been driven HARD for 130,000 miles and I haven't had a single problem.
Da' Best Ever
This is THE best truck I've ever had!! I will probably drive it until the wheels fall off; which will probably never happen. It gets wonderful milage for a 5.9L (360)--around 15 town and 22 on highway. It's full of power and the best 4X4 on/off the road. The comfort is great as well. For real people....THIS IS ONE TOUGH TRUCK AND A JOY TO OWN!!
Built RAM Tough
With nearly 58,000 miles on my truck I've had only one major issue to date. The dealership had the truck back to me within 48 hours and since all has been perfect. I wish there was a little more variety available in fabric options. Otherwise no complaints at all. This truck takes me everywhere without questions. The sound system is above average. The fun factor is WAY ABOVE average. If you're looking for fuel economy WHY are you looking at a full size truck?
P.O.S
This truck has been nothing but trouble since the first week! It has had three trans' put in it in two yrs. It ended up at $2560 to fix it all! Its been stolen its been broken in to and all my cd players were stolen. That cost me 950 to replace them. My advice is not to buy one.
Won't buy another Dodge!
Purchased this truck new with 2 miles on the odo. Engine has run great but no power and terrible fule ecomony. Transmission is terrible. A/C core started leaking after 2 years. Dodge had problems with these and refused to warranty.
My truck forever
I bought this new and I had only one major problem with the rear axle pinion bearing tore apart at 28,000 miles with just over 3 years on the truck($1000 of work). No 7/70 drivetrain warranty back then but now they do. I informed Dodge of this with lots of pictures but they wouldn't even help even though its something that should went out with so few miles and should have lasted a lifetime. Other than that, the truck has served me well and plan on keeping a long time.
Very Poor Truck
This vehicle has never performed well we spent over 15K since we bought it and it still needs 5K worth of work. Our family bought three and none of them performed well. I will never buy a dodge again.
