I traded my Dodge Ram for a Durango SXT
I decided to trade my Dodge Ram for a Durango after I heard about the great deal I could get on one. It all started when I decided to stop at the dealer to take a look at one and test drive it. 2 hours later I was taking it home.
New car for the Used car guy
I have always bought used cars because of the instant huge depreciation when it is driven off the dealer's lot, but with the insentives and rebates offered to make way for the 06 models, this was an excellent deal. I am very impressed with the smooth ride and agile handling of this large, heavy SUV - this thing is rock solid, not a squeak anywhere. The 4.7L V8 engine has more than enough power to get out of it's own way and haul an average size boat or trailer. The 4WD and antilock brakes make driving in snow effortless. I still prefer the more rugged styling of the older models and the dashboard seems a bit bland, but it dosen't have overdone flair and glitz like other "luxury" models.

Dodge DUrango lover
Love my Durango, It's hemi makes it feel like a sporty vehicle gas mileage is bad..... 14 mpg per highway. Tows like a champ. Overall a great vehicle without the SUV feel.
Great 4x4
Well I have had quite a few vehicles in my time 56 to be exact --- most of them Chrysler products and my current aquisition is a great one. Comfort, power, room ---- what else can some one ask for?
Fun to Drive
We purchased our Durango about two months ago. The satelite radio is a favorite feature for our family because when you travel, you do not lose your channel. The middle row has plenty of room to seat adults, however the 3rd row seat is recommended for kids. The cargo space is adequate, but you would have to use the luggage rack if taking alot with you on a trip. We opted to get a DVD system on our own because it is less expensive than the dealerships price. The gas mileage is not great, we average 13.5 MPG. The guage in the upper console tells you your average gas mileage, which is a nice feature. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone. We love ours.
I'm Glad I Got Rid of my Ford
I love my new Durango! The old body style was ugly but, this one is totally hot. I'm the youngest person I've ever seen driving one. I have a powerful V8, I don't think a V6 would be enough power for so much SUV. We love it.
Powerful
Far and away the most powerful vehicle I've ever owned. Fantastic in snow. Only downside is the driver's seat, it needs to be softer. Other than that it's a great auto!
Love this Beast
This is the becoming the best vehicle I have ever owned. I have had a Jeep Grand, Liberty, BMW, etc. This is the most fun to drive!! Gas is gas, I actually average 17 mpg in town, based on not hot rodding. I get 20 mpg on the highway without the displacement.
Smooth Riding, Good Looking
I much prefer the newer lines of the Durango (late 2004/2005/2006 models). After the looks, the saleman sold it to me by simply telling me to put the power down. I bought the 4.7L V8 and it's great. The power in the mid-range is awesome (especially in tow/haul mode) but can be lazy to shift down at lower speeds. The ride is the smoothest I've known. It's a fantastic road trip car, with plenty of room and it cruises like it's on air. The large size isn't all that bad, as it manouvers reasonably well - and with over 100 cubic feet of luggage space it was invaluable for our recent house move! I highly recommend the towing package as it comes with larger wing mirrors.
The Durango Expierence
The driving is great it is comfortable, but the plastic parts inside are already breaking like around the outside of the drivers seat where the electric controls are for the seat! The plastic parts seem cheap!
Wow
Great auto, lots of power. Gas mileage is poor. Inside lots of cheap plastic. Rebuild the inside with premimum products, don't go cheap. Move the fuse box. My foot knocks off the fuse box door, that is a pain. The seat belt needs to be longer. I am a big guy. Change the instrument light to a more fun color have fun with inside lighting. It's a dream to drive, just need to upgrade the inside to have a real winner.
Durango Love
The 2005 Durango SLT is my third Durango in a row. It is awesome. I am 6'5" and love the head room in this vehicle. The Hemi lets me power my way through highways. I never feel like I need more power. I like its tough rugged looks while at the same time giving my family a comfortable and roomy interior for long trips. We took it to the Mall of America packed with 5 adults and one child in child seat and still had plenty of room for the shopping on the way home. One of the great things about this vehicle is the 90 degrees of range to the passanger doors. That is really useful. Not to mention the 4x4 capability. All kinds of storms and you are cozy inside! Thank you Durango!
2005 Durango
Excellent for long days on the road. Very comfortable. My next vehicle will be the same
Very Pleased
This vehicle is as advertised on the sticker, fuel mileage has been better than expected. I have two complaints after almost 30,000 miles. It needs at least two more inches of driver seat hip room and back up sensors. The Hemi is great, very responsive.
My Durango
I love my Durango and my wife says it's the only kind of vehicle that I'm ever allowed to purchase her. Be warned though, gas mileage stinks!
Great Vehicle
I bought this vehicle in Feb of 2006 and could not be happier! The vehicle runs great. All problems have been covered by the awesome warranty.
2005 Dodge Durango Adventurer 4wd
Love the Hemi, powerfull yet quiet. Great for coastal roads and long hauls. Gets better mileage with speed, so I suggest investing in a radar detector.
2006 Durango...an awesome vehicle
This SUV was purchased with 38600 miles, but runs like a new vehicle. It is far superior to my previous Pathfinder in ride and performance. The interior is spacious and well designed. My next vehicle will be a Durango as well.
Very Disappointed
Love the looks, interior build quality is great, 3rd row of seats is big enough for 2 adults and with those folded down we can store a ton of stuff. Been on a few very long journeys and it has driven well. Smooth, DVD player in the back has kept the kids happy. But after 18,000 the transmission completely siezed on my wife and we had to get a whole new one. Now lost confidence in the car and then had a product recall (# G07). Thankfully just leasing so will return the SUV next summer and run like mad from the dealership. It's a real shame as I loved it for the first 18 months.
Bad Decision
I bought this truck because it was my best bang for the buck and it was safe for all the kids. It was and it is. The truck has really disappointed though. Cheaply built, I have rust already, chrome door handles are falling apart. Strange dash lights go and off. Cruise control works, then doesn't. And don't do like I did and get one without traction control. This thing fishtails in snow like a 68 Camaro (whether in AWD or 4WD). On top of all that, the resale value seems to be tied to some sort of very heavy financial based anchor. I like the Hemi and it always starts, so there's the positive. I should have spent 8k more and purchased a GM product.
Nice Family car.
Engine and power train are excellent. 4.7 liter delivers good power. Average 16.5 MPG in mixed driving. Not great but delivers what is advertised. Overall ride is very good. Nice sturdy feel. Very smooth on flat roads very truck like on bumpy roads. Very nice family vehicle. Seats 7. Plenty of room for storage with 3rd row seats folded down. Overall this has been a great purchase.
Satisfied
I have owned my Durango for 18 months with no problems. I also own a grand Cherokee Laredo 4.7 2006. Both are excellent vehicles but if you are going on a long trip the Durango is the way to travel. People always comment on the mileage but I have yet to see a vehicle with the toughness and comfort and good looks these have that get good mileage. If you want safety and Peace of mind in a vehicle I suggest an SUV. Try putting 5 people and their luggage in a econobox, and see how you feel after a day of driving.
An awesome vehicle for its age
Mine is now 18 years old and rides as smooth as a BMW. It handles great for its size. Pulls like a bull with the 5.7 V8 Hemi. I have replaced the air conditioner compressor (which is located right at the top of the engine and is a cinch to get to) and the headlights (the old ones were foggy). Other than that the vehicle just takes everything I throw at it. Now the interior is VERY plastic and the second row seat has very little leg room but everything else is top notch. The tranny runs strong, the AWD does its job. The MPG is a understandably lacking. Its a BIG vehicle with a V8 getting about 19 combined.

Bye bye Liberty....Hello Durango
I traded my Liberty 2 weeks ago for the Durango because we needed more room. We opted for all the bells and whistles, including the DVD and leather and are not sorry at all. This SUV handles very much like my much smaller Liberty did, the room is amazing..I could rave on and on. I have to admit, one of the biggest "perks" is indeed the Hemi. Picks up and not only goes, but flies down the freeway effortlessly. It was well worth it in the end to choose the available options.
Great SUV
We went from a Mid Size SUV to yhr Durango and it was the best choice ever. It's fun to drive, the interior is well designed and it's very reliable. Fuel mileage is what you can expect from a V8. It was a great buy, seating for 8 easily, comfortable and a very smooth ride. Love It.
Great SUV
Comfortable,great design & feature !
Lemon
Like I have read in other reviews, the issues with this vehicle are tremendous. The 5.7 litter Hemi has great acceleration and I have been very please with the gas mileage. Other than that, it has been nothing but a nightmare. It stalls when stopping all the time, the dealership has no idea what is wrong since their computer tells them nothing. The interior continues to fall apart daily. Not to mention the extreme loss in value in 1.5 years is huge! I look forward to trading it in as soon as I can afford to bail out!
