2003 "Silver Star"

My van is "trailer towing" equipped and I've found its performance to be exceptional. Highway mileage without my boat is 23+ mpg; with my boat it's 21+ mpg. It's tops for comfort, reliability and just plain fun to drive.

We replaced an Olds Bravada with this Venture, so the bar was set a little high for features. So far it's a very comfortable ride, easy to drive, with one minor problem to date (a left headlight that holds moisture) that's being addressed as I write this. Storage is excellent overall, especially in the van's rear. I miss OnStar, but it wasn't available on this trim level. Mine is the 7-seat version with leather and captain's chairs.

This van is by for the best van for the year. Just got back from a 3500 mile road trip. Smooth ride on interstate and 2 and 4 lane back roads. Mileage was good at around 25-28 with a full load of people and cargo. Next one will be an '05. Too bad Chevy replaced it with a Uplander!

A Nice Choice

This vehicle rides smoothly and quietly. I cannot see paying thousands more for the additional supposed reliability, etc. of either the Toyota or Honda comparable product, although both are also excellent vehicles. My only complaint is with the gas mileage, 25 mpg tops for "highway". Excellent drive in snow and rain. Flexible seating allows for multiple use under varying conditions. No water leaks, no nuisance issues, no performance issues.

Great on gas about 25 MPG. about 500 miles on 1 tank. Nicely fits XXL people. VERY easy in-easy out. The auto slide door is heavenly when dealing with children and baby seats. Lots of room. We moved in from a 4- Runner SR5 and a neon. I love how it handles tight like my little nimble Neon but has the higher eye-level. It's got more guts than either of my previous vehicles. It's quiet and has a cushy but sturdy feel to it. The cargo area is useful with the cubby holes. The dual heat/ac blows hard and is effective even for our 120 degree days in the desert as well as those nippy 20 degree mornings. We've changed the fuel filter once due to temp gauge showing hotter than normal. That fixed it.

Great Family Vehicle

We've had out van for 3 years, and we love it. The dual power sliding doors, DVD entertainment, and 8 passenger seating are awesome. We drove 2006 Toyota and Honda models hoping to upgrade some new features, like the side windows that roll all the way down. There are some nice new toys, but all in all, the ride, comfort, and seating provided by our van can't be beat. We can still fit our family of 5 very comfortably in the van with the rear seat folded flat and loaded down for vacation. We didn't find any other van with seating that compared to the 3 buckets in ours. All the other features are still very similar. Buy a good used Venture, and save your money over the new versions.

This Chevy Venture is our last U.S. car

We bought this car because of a great deal that resulted from being a GM supplier (my company). This 2003 Chevrolet Venture Warner edition is a piece of junk. At 40,000 miles, the rear hatch pneumatic devices that hold it up when loading failed. At 50,000 miles the traction control and cruise control don't work anymore. We wonder what's next. The engine (176 HP six cylinder) accelerates more like a 4 cylinder. The interior build quality is poor throughout. All in all the vehicle is a piece of junk. GM deserves to lose marketshare with products like the Venture.

Better than our Grand Voyager

Ride and handling blow our previous van away. The power sliding door is a nice feature, and I also really like the way the radio stays on even after you turn off the ignition and remove the key (it stays on for up to 10 min or until you open the door). The seating for 8 configuration also allows us more options for carrying passengers and cargo at the same time with our 3 kids in car seats.

Too many problems

With 89K miles, I have replaced: head gasket, power window motor & switches, tail lights, transmission cable, computer chip, engine mount. In addition, the latch for the glove compartment is broken, the sliding side door does not work. Also, the piece holding the power window motor has deteriorated. Can easily be replaced at a cost of $700 by ordering the part from Canada. Now, I'm looking at worst case senario a rebuilt engine (not going to happen), best case senario another $1500 bill. I wil follow my kids' advice - get a new car. I will never purchase another GM product.
