Used 2015 Chevrolet Trax LS 4dr SUV AWD (1.4L 4cyl Turbo 6A) Consumer Reviews
Not Recommended. Very Poor Quality and Unreliable
It amazes me to see all these 4 and 5 star reviews as those that have can consider themselves extremely lucky that they have not encountered problems. Purchased this car used in Jan 2019 with only 60K miles on it and have had to take it in 5 times in 7 months with *major* issues. The last two times it had to be towed backed to the Dealership. There are *Numerous* complaints filed on the NHTSA.gov website with many customers experiencing the exact same issues that we have and I encourage everyone to review those complaints before purchasing this vehicle. We have been lucky that the issues we have encountered have not resulted in an accident but others experiencing these problems have not been so lucky. Our issues: Brakes fail - Press on pedal and it goes to the floor. - In our case, dealership replaced "Brake Vacuum Switch" but claimed this was not a warranty item (normal wear and tear) so required to pay full price for repairs. That was less than 2 months ago and brakes have been working OK since that time. Others have reported this exact same issue that resulted in accidents. Oil smell when engine is hot that comes through the A/C or Defroster when running - GM / Dealership won't recognize problem nor fix yet others have experienced that same problem. I reported it again when our Trax was just towed back to the Dealership for another problem. Smoke coming from engine - Dealership replaced Turbo and Turbo pipe due to crack in pipe. Loss of power and shaking when driving. - Current problem - Vehicle will loose power, fails to accelerate, starts shaking, Check Engine light will come on, Traction Control light will come on, OnStar will send multiple notifications - Check Service Interlock Braking System - Check Tracking Control System - Check Exhaust Emission System NOTE: This same problem was reported to the Dealership within 3 weeks after we purchased the vehicle. They could not replicate it but replaced the rear hub bearings as they were growling. Not sure what rear hub bearings have to do with "loss of power" and "engine vibrating when idling" but it did not fix the initial reported problem as it has been experienced numerous times since. This time the car started idling very rough when sitting in the driveway. Tried to drive it to work and had to turn around and return home as it lost power and was shaking. Could not accelerate vehicle, Check Engine light was *FLASHING*, not just solidly lit but *FLASHING*. Called Dealership and vehicle was again TOWED. This exact problem has been reported by others on the NHTSA.gov web site and other sites.

BADLY MADE!
Everything is made to brake like a cheap bad brand tv , I have it for 10 months and my back hatch is broken some times open many times doesnt , the handle fells off , the lock itself for the back hatch is made of plastic , how can a door lock be made of plastic ? the engine light come on and off all the time , the bottom for the shift is made of a cheap plastic and broke a piece, the wipers doenst wipe right and leaves parts of it on the windshield , to change the cabin air filter we have to dismantle the glove compartment that is badly made all the connection is plastic and easily breakable that is some of the things I can say about my 2015 chevy trax

Was Good Until...
I bought a used 2015 Chevy Trax in 2017 with about 30k miles on it, and I was happily surprised by how zippy it was. It was great for a city commuter, and wasn't terrible for road trips either, despite not having cruise control. It handled well in snow, too. At about 80k miles, the check engine light came on. Shortly after it was repaired in a certified repair shop, the check engine light came on again. Then again. All fingers seemed to point to the turbo having repeated issues that would continue to return after a few thousand miles. Fast-forward to today, my 2015 Chevy Trax is still having issues with the check engine light and the turbo. I recently had the 100k service performed at a Chevy dealership, and that seems to have caused the turbo problems to return. My Trax is in the shop yet again, and the problem is the turbo... again. I'm very disappointed that my Chevy Trax is a lemon, and I am tired of sinking thousands of dollars for repairs into it, especially considering I barely have over 100k miles on it. This could have been a great little commuter vehicle, and I was really hoping I could have gotten more life out of it. Now I am under water on it, and still paying for repairs. The reliability of the 2015 Chevy Trax has proven to be a complete disappointment, and I would not recommend it to anybody.

Would not even give it 1 star
This is the biggest heap of junk I have ever owned. The only good thing about are the comfortable seats and that's only in the upright position. Since I have owned the car, these are the problems I have had. Second year of owning it, I had to replace the bearings. It just quit functioning while I was driving on the turnpike, which the steering locked up and I was barely able to get off of the road. The garage told me it was because I didn't change my oil. Um, just changed it less than 6 months prior and was under the mileage, but OK. Then found out the miraculously water got into the engine. (Mechanics didn't do something right during maintenance). $900.00 tow bill and they charged me for the rental. Bearing replacement $300.00. Car never drove correctly. Traction light kept coming on, then the check engine light. First it was pulling back during acceleration or it would falter and then lunge forward. Fast forward 3 months later and the turbo went. Took it to a different dealer garage and the turbo was fixed. Not even 8 months later it is ready to blow again. Starting to do the same exact thing. Transmission lines blew while I was traveling from work. Had them replaced and thank goodness the transmission didn't blow. But not even 2 weeks out of the shop and the check engine light is on again. I have had to have this vehicle towed 3 times!!!! Heater and air conditioner went. Valve went. DO NOT BUY THIS VEHICLE!!! ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A TRAVELER. I only have 91, 000 miles on this vehicle and it has cost me more in repairs than any other vehicle I have owned! ABSOLUTLY THE WORST VEHICLE EVER MADE!!!
