Used 2019 Chevrolet Spark LS 4dr Hatchback (1.4L 4cyl 5M) Consumer Reviews
My little Peanut
I bought my 2019 Spark, "The Peanut", for driving back and forth to work each day. I drive 60 miles to work and wanted to cut down on the miles, and wear and tear, I was putting on my 2018 Dodge Ram sport truck. I looked at several used Hondas and Toyotas but just couldn't fathom paying roughly the same price for a used car, with 80,000 - 100,000 miles on it, that a new Chevrolet with a full 3 year warranty cost. I wanted the cheapest manufacture's new model I could find with 4 doors, automatic transmission and air conditioning, and the Spark was it. I was amazed that even stripped down it comes with such features as 10 air bags, a/c, a big back up camera screen, auto head lights, auto driver door lock, blue tooth stereo, On-Star and carpeted floor mats. I drive this car almost daily on the toll roads between 75 - 85 mph and it is comfortable and runs just fine. To tell the truth, the ride in town, is smoother than riding in my truck or my wife's Camaro SS. I live in Austin, Tx and find myself using my Spark not just for work, as originally intended, but also on my days off when running errands. It is easy to drive in busy traffic, comfortable and sooooo easy to park. My poor truck has barely left the garage since I purchased my car. Some changes in future models I would like to see, for me, would be a back seat that folds "completely" flat for additional hauling capability and a better arrangement of the cup holders so tall drinks are easier to get in and out. Other than that, this car satisfies my needs completely and I don't think there is a better value out there for the price. Update: After 8 months of ownership and 7000 miles, I still love this car. I drive it almost daily, either on the interstate or around town. I have not had one thing go wrong with it since purchase. It fits my basic commuter needs perfectly. Even the air conditioner has proved adequate in this 100+ degree Texas summer heat. If you can catch it when GM is offering great rebates (my was $3,500) I don't think you will find a better deal out there.

Almost free fun transport!
I bought the car to save money and it is by far the least expensive car out there. It is rated pretty well in crash tests. It lacks power windows, and power locks. It does have apple play and auto headlights. It is compatible with androids as well but I have an iPhone. I’m old so I’m very happy my google maps shows up on the screen of the car and my texts are read to me and I can dictate texts with eyes on the road. I got a manual transmission mostly because I think an important consideration in keeping costs down is lowering the number of systems that could reasonably require expensive repairs. It surprised me about how fun to drive it is. It doesn’t seem slow to me through normal highway speeds. And because I owned a car brand GM was trying to get market share back from, my price before tax and tags was under $10,000. Yes it sucks not having keyless entry, it’s size does mitigate the issue somewhat because you can easily read the other side. But at over 30 mpg combined and almost 40 mpgs on the highway, this is basically free, fun, transport.

Best small car I’ve owned
1 year update to my review. My car has 14,600 miles and is almost 13 months old. Zero problems. Gas mileage is better than EPA projected - I get combined between 38.7-40.0 mpg consistently - about 85% of my driving is on the turnpike. No squeaks or rattles. Zero issues. The car feels very comfortable from a driver perspective. I’m very happy with this affordable little car. 2 year update: I now have had my Spark for 25 months. I have 28,000 miles on it. I have replaced tires and done scheduled maintenance. Very comfortable for a small commuter car (I’m 6’2” 220 lbs). I use the apple car play to listen to podcasts. The car has no squeaks or rattles, handles very well, and has had zero issues. The seats are easy to keep clean. I use it to drive to / from work - about 70% highway usage. I have the manual transmission and my average fuel consumption is better than the EPA estimates - I routinely get between 39-41 MPG (according to the reading on the digital dashboard instrument and validated by manual calculation based on miles traveled / gallons consumed). I consider this to be a great value for a commuter car.

So comfortable you'll want to live in it
I love the interier of this car very much. The front seats are extremely comfortable to me and my wife. The entire interior is a work of art. I love kicking back in it and playing the radio on low volume. The back up camera is very smart and the turn by turn navigation is very good to have. The engine is a little sluggish when accelerating from zero but once it gets going it is as good as any car on the freeway. I never take it to fast for too long because it is a very small car and it offers less protection than other regular sized car. But with its small size you get great gas. On the freeway I get over 40 mpg at 65 mph. With the price of this car, you can't go wrong. I have only had it for 1 month so I don't know how long it will last; I will come back in a couple years with an update. So far everything is great with this car. I love it thus far.

I love my spark! Couldn’t be happier!
This car is awesome! For the price it’s insane... you can do 75mph in third gear. That should be all you need to know but I’ll go on to let you hear more. It handles like a go kart. Brakes are really good. Steering is very direct and sensitive. My buddy who is 6”5 320lbs fits in the passenger perfectly. I’m 6”0 even and the car is plenty big. I love the Chevy spark. The engine loves to be revved. Once it hits 4,000 rpm that party starts. Amazing little vehicle. Also has a 9 gallon tank. $35 bucks to fill up! This car can smash too! Even though it only has 98hp you can get some speeding tickets easily without trying. More American should consider the 5 speed spark. It’s seriously an awesome vehicle.
