Purchase in January 2003 - 4dr Ext Cab 4wd LS - SB 5.3L. Overall I am enjoying my second Chevy truck. If you are thinking about purchasing this truck "PLEASE CHECK TO SEE IF IT WILL FIT IN THE GARAGE". GM could make the best truck sold in the U.S. if it would improve the little things that annoy its customers. I

This is a really nice truck. Power from the 5.3 V8 is excellent as I don't find it difficult passing up slow cars. The interior is accomidating as are the steering wheel controls. Almost every button/switch lights up and headlamps provide great visability. Bose sound system is wonderful. Heated seats warm up quick and provide extra comfort during cold winter days. As for fuel comsuption, well it is a truck and it does comsume a lot of fuel. I average 14 mpg in the summer and about 17mpg in the winter. My biggest complaint thus far is build quality. There are quite a few rattles and squeeks, which are VERY annoying.

The truck is excellent!!...I just wish the manufacturer would have leather and on star as options for the LS model. The 5.3 V8 gets 14.9 City to 16.4 Highway. With gas as expensive as it now is, I would like to see better gas mileage. Handling and performance is great!...Ride i s a little too rough! Needs improvement. I removed the overload springs and added air bags. Still didn't help the ride!

Owned it for a year and a half know and it has been in the shop 7 times. Latest left me stranded on the Interstate when the fuel pump went out. To date a/c has gone out twice (computer), rear brakes broke in the locked position(dealer said they were installed from the factory incorrectly), transmission has been reprogrammed twice for clunking (build quality), steering shaft has been replaced for knocking (build quality), and the latest fuel pump fiasco. (who knows why the fuel pump quit at 25K.

This has been my 5th Chevy truck since 1990. I've had some good ones and some not so good ones. This one so far is good except for some squeaks from the extended doors and a clunking noise in the steering. The gas mileage from the 4.8l is good at around 20mpg. The power is there when you need it. Over all this has been a good truck so far. The service department just needs to get a few bugs worked out and I'll be very happy.

This truck has 4 wheel drive and gets 18 mpg running around town. Much better than my 2000 Ford f150 two wheel drive which got 17 mpg. Have had no trouble and love the off road capabilitys. The Firestone tires are about to be replaced at 50000 miles, again much better then the Ford.

I've had only one minor problem with my truck, more of a nuisance actually. The steering shaft's tenon-and-spline compression joint requires additional grease packing to minimize some minor knocking noises on bumpy roads. Overall, a solid, reliable vehicle.

5000 miles of frustration trying to determine why the vehicle vibrates at 1250 rpms. People tell you the truck looks good but beauty is only skin deep and this flaw should have been determined before shipping. All this fine tuning for fuel mileage just seems to cause problems else where.

I have only had my truck for about four months, but I am positive I made the right choice. Being a former Ford owner, that isnt easy to say. The improvements over the fords are night and day. Ride is incredible, space is well beyond the f-150. Got the bucket seats--I would recomend this as well as the 5.3 if you are going to do any towing.

I started to buy a Ford, but once I drove the Silverado I was sold. It has more than enough power from the 5.3 vortec. The Ford did'nt even compare, I could'nt believe the difference. Silverado has the best ride, and is the most plush of the big 3 trucks. Love the looks I get while driving it! It's a very nice looking and well built truck!!!

I am a former Nissan Frontier owner. I loved my old truck, but I needed more to tow and to stop my boat. During the buying process I driven Nissans, Toyota, Dodge, Ford, and Chevys Trucks. Though each was respectable the Chevy was best all around in the areas of usefullness, practical, economy and being fun to drive. My Silverado even gets better mpg than my Frontier.

I have had this truck for 4 years and have put 71000 miles on it so far. I have yet to have any major problems with this truck. Also most of the minor problems were covered with in the 36000 mile warranty. The most recent and most annoying problems have been with the electrical system. It seems the truck has developed a short some where that no one can find. It keeps blowing the fuse for the driver seat and passenger window. I also have a tail light and running head light that goes on and off.

I've only had the Silverado three weeks, but so far, it's been a great truck. I did alot of research into buying this truck, and feel the Chevrolet is the best balance of power, comfort, safety, and dependability. The gas milage is about 17mpg, which isn't too bad for a V8 extended cab pickup.

I have alway been a Ford person, but my purchase this last week of a Silverado LS/4.8 V8 was more because of the finance manager from the Ford dealership than my love for the Chevrolet truck. BUT...this is a nice overall truck. I like the standard features and the V8 is crisp. Overall quality seems respectable - and it is very roomy inside, which helps with 2 kids in car seats.

I wanted a full size truck in 2WD that was good on gas and served me well everyday. This has been it. With over 120,000 miles it has given me zero trouble. Passengers comment frequently on it's roomy and comfortable interior - even in the back seat; probably the best bench in the industry. With an average of 18mpg, it's no eco-car, but compared to it's 4WD bretheren, it's awesome. That goes for 4WD mid-size trucks too (at 16mpg). Good looks, solid build, dependable - what more do you want?

I am or was a loyal Chevrolet customer. Well i'm sad to say that this truck has changed my mind. I have had multiple problems with it. From tail light to water pump. The quality of my 91' was way better. The worst part of it was when the warrenty ran out ( it had 36200 miles and they wanted to charge me for fixing a problem the hadn't fixed in the past) Chevrolet decided not to stand by their product. Really disapointing, well Toyota here I come.

All was well with the truck except for the windows, the driver seat, the speakers, the console, andpaint peeling off the ashtray. I didn't have any other problems with it until I decided to do the smart care engine and transmission flush. Since then the truck leaks engine and transmission oil at about a quart a day...,DON'T GET IT...,I AM STILL HAVING TO BRING MY TRUCK BACK TO TRY TO GET IT RESOLVED...,IT'S BEEN VERY FUSTRATING AND TIME CONSUMING...,THIS IS DEFINITELY THE LAST TIME I BUY AMERICAN THANKS TO THE RUDENESS AND POOR ATTITUDE OF TWO DEALER-SHIPS AND THEIR POOR RELATION ETHICS

I opted for the 4.8L V8 - wanted the 5.3 but cost $1400 more. Very happy with the smoothness and delivery of the 275 HP from this motor - has more than enough oomph! for what I use it for (hauling people/stuff to and from games/home depot, occasional towing) and I'm getting better gas mileage than my 3.0L V6 '95 4Runner got. Excellent comfort/room for six. All smiles, no complaints yet.

I 2003 Chevy Siverado ST extended cab with the 5300 Vortec engine. I have taken it on one road trip (1900 miles round trip) and drive it to and from work 5 days a week. My normal road vehicle is my 2001 Caddy Saville STS But I must admit, this 2003 truck is almost as comfortable and has allmost all of the same whistles and bells.

Stylish and powerful truck that has a solid feel going down the road. All of the changes for 2003 only made a good truck better. Good enough to finally make me switch from Ford to Chevy. I keep hearing of the cheap feel of the interior but sitting in the Ford I see just as much p-lastic and a lot less style.

Very comfortable ride due to 6-way power seats and roomy interior. The instrument panel is easy to read with extras such as an hour meter for the engine. The engine seems to be easy to maintain with the 100,000 mile scheduled spark plug change. A very nice experience so far....

I originally bought a 2wd with the V6 and then traded it in for a 4x4 4dr ext cab 5.3 It has an endless supply of power and feels more like a hotrod than a truck. It is the quietest of the the big three that I tested. I bought from Rob Milliken at Courtesy Chevrolet in Poulsbo, Washington. If your looking for star treatment and rock bottom prices, this is where you need to go.

This truck is the best truck I have ever owned, my 4th of the GM full size family. It's a Z71 with 151,000 on it now and have no problems at all since I bought it in 05' with 70,000 on it been camping to remote destinations, driven on trails, and even hauled several pallets of sod in the bed. It's extremely comfortable and rides like a car. Have made many comfortable trips with the family in it and no complaints at all. Never broken down only have changed the battery once by choice with an Optima yellow top. Only cost is oil, wipers and 3 sets of tires. This truck it truly built like a rock and takes the abuse of 2 boys 3 dirt bikes and many off road outings to have fun.

Sheet metal is very thin. Vehicle get dents from acorns falling onto hood and roof when parked under oak trees. (Had to cut down one of our trees to stop further damage) Installed a truck rack which extended over the cab, and this caused airflow problems resulting in the roof vibrating. Had to modify the rack to stop the vibration. Dealer has had vehicle in many times for repairs. The most serious being failed front hub at 37,000 miles and power steering pump replaced at 42,000 miles. Also, the windshield wipers would not turn off. If key is left in ignition in the off position and vehicle is reentered and started, the chime starts ringing and stays on. You must turn it off, remove the key, and then reinsert the key and start it again. I will never buy another Chevy truck. Going back to Ford.

The problems on this Silverado are numerous. The biggest are the brakes. You need to push the pedal to the floor in order to get the truck to stop and sometimes that doesn't do it. In less than 30,000 miles I have had the steering column greased, then replaced. Heater replaced, and power window motor replaced. These are annoying, but the brakes are dangerous.

In the first 22,000 miles I had to take this truck back to the dealer 9 times. I am constantly having problems with the windshield wipers, and various squeaks and rattles from the dash. Had to have the transmission reprogramed because it was clunking, the bed repainted because it was peeling, the steering shaft fixed becuase it was knocking, and many minor repairs, like the cigarette lighter not working. However, if the truck did not have these problems I would have been very satisfied with it. But based on the experience I have had I would not get another Chevy.

I enjoy driving this truck. My only complaints so far would be the seats. Comfortable as they may be, I wish I would have opted for the adjustable seats. I feel like I'm riding low in the seat even though I think I'm average height (5'9"). Shifting is smooth with the automatic transmission, although the lever can get in the way of radio and temperature controls.

Since 1983I have purchased imports primarily and been VERY happy w/them. Then in 93" made the huge mistake of buying a Ford, or should I say S**T. Purchased my 03" Chevy last fall; overall EXTREMELY pleased. I live very close to my work, and we use the wife's auto mostly so I don't have many mileson it, but overall truck is great. Only problems have been the radio; total crap! and one-time prob with guages going dead.
