Great Car
I just bought my 1991 Chevy Lumina Eurosport w/ TURBO, its a nice ride with excellent gas mileage. I just put new brakes and rotors on it and thats all it needed. The brakes arent as touchy as I am used to but oh well, Other than that it rides great, killer pick up and excellent gas mileage.
My Chevy Lumina Euro
I have a 1991 chevy lumina euro with 136,000 and I am repairing anything it needs. I think this will be my last car I bought it new in 1991 when I was 42 years old and now I am retired and 62. I am never going to get another car I will keep this till I die.

not bad for an old car
I just got this car for really good price. It runs very well! It hugs curves, and does wonderfully at higher highway speeds. Mine is the 4 door Euro. The driver side seat makes my back sore, though. And the inside is a dark blue cloth, and it's own way, it's quite nice looking. The outside body style is kind of pokey looking. Very fun to drive though. I'd drive this thing to the moon if I could.
Love my Ms. Lumina
I absolutely love my lumina. she is amazing love the mpg. usually get like 450 to a tank ^_^ It's a base with a 3.1. I love that engine no rust no tears rips or anything she's scuffed and scratched at my left turn signal comes on but doesn't blink it's weird. LOL sometimes she will shudder when the ac is on it's weird but it calms down when you roll the windows down but other than that she is amazing new headlamps new tires and were good to go.
Excellent car
I bought my car off a neighbor of mine who wanted to by a pickup and needed a little extra than what the dealer wanted to give for a trade in. I thought the car had a lot of miles on it. I knew the owner had taken very good care of the car. I have never had any trouble with it and it now has over 207000 miles on the original odometer. My Lumina was well worth the purchace.
Possibly one of the best first car you can own
This was my first car when I was in high school. Which was in the early 2000’s. Nevertheless, it’s still a great choice for a first car, cause you can really learn and beat on this car and it will still run forever. It has the basics, like ABS, seat belts, cruise control. And still has a reasonable mpg for this day and age. A combined 24mpg. Which my 2018 JK can’t do that at all, and my 2019 Renegade can slightly do better with 26mpg. That’s only a 2 mile difference from a car from 1991! Now on to the Lumina’s A, B and C pillars don’t have airbags so they don’t have to be massive and giant blind spots like most new cars. Which brings us to a first car buyer most essential feature. Blind spot visibility. It’s illogical to buy yourself or your idiot kid a brand new car, they crash it cause they don’t understand blind spots and now your stuck with the repair bill and high insurance rates. Which is why smaller pillars makes learning to change lanes, parallel park and back up better. Sure this car doesn’t have Apple car play or Bluetooth, or even a USB port. But I’ll tell you what it does have, a cassette player. Which you can just buy a Bluetooth cassette tape for a more retro vibe to your music selection. Or a simple Bluetooth FM transmitter for a slightly more refined sound. As for the Lumina 3.1 engine. It’s got some pep. You can easily merge onto highways, can keep up with normal traffic just fine. The 3.1 v6 will last forever. And I mean it. It only had 1 flaw which was the intake manifold gasket. Now, if you swap out the intake manifold gasket, your lumina will last forever. Reason why is that the dexcool GM used in this car would eat away at the intake manifold gasket after 60k miles. But regular antifreeze takes away that issue. Thus making your Lumina 3.1 immortal... Other wise with the age of this engine you will have normal easily fixable things, that are bound to go, it’s a 29 going on 30 year old car. But don’t let that discourage you. Cause they are cheap and easy to fix by yourself, things like the ignition control module, coil, AC compressor, MAF sensor, alternator, starter, typical carbon build up and dirty injectors. All very easy to fix as a first car owner. None of these issues will break the bank and can be done over the weekend. And being able to work on your own car brings pride and is something to treasure cause it’s getting harder and harder for newer cars. So in conclusion, the Chevy Lumina 3.1 won’t brake the bank, easy to learn how to drive, and with some simple regular maintenance can and will last forever. Don’t let age fool you, the Lumina still have enough life in it to get you through your first car years.

not a bad ride for the money
I just bought my 91 Lumina Euro sedan w/ the sport package. I pretty much just use it to get to work and it seems to be a decent buy so far. It has a nice ride, is roomy enough and has plenty of torque. Some negatives, the build quality is not all that great. The interior door panels feel like they will come off any day now. It is loud from the exhaust and also road/wind noise is a bit excessive. I have read that the rear brakes should be checked often and that the charging system is weak. Overall, this is a good car that you wont be embarrased to drive and can actually be fun to drive if you don't mind some fairly minor quality issues.
1991 Chevy Lumina
My mother bought the vehicle almost new in 1992 and sold it to me when I moved out of state. It has been an excellent car. We never had any major problems until the car hit 100K, and at that point the shocks, struts, spark plug wires all had to be replaced. The gas gage stopped working. The hood also started to rust a little, and the paint started to peel in the back. However, we've never had any mechanical problems. The engine has never had to be repaired and I've never been leary about it breaking down on long trips. It has been a great car.
Great car!!!
I work at a used car dealership and Luminas are by far the best cars out there. I own a 91 Lumina with the 3.1 package and it is fantastic. My dad bought it in 93 with 30,000 miles on it and now it's up to 175,000. We've never had any major repair that needed to be done...just the usual parts that wear out, brakes, struts, tires, ect. It's been in three major acidents and it's still running strong. Although we've had to replace the calipers is the back about 5 times there have been no problems with anything. And once you've done the calipers twice you remember how to do them.
Still going strong
I have owned this car for 16 years. With regular maintenance, it has held up very well. I had to replace the infamous manifold gasket in 1998. The rear calipers, the water pump and the power steering pump. It gets excellent gas mileage. One tap of the gas and she's gone. The lawyers cheated the consumers on the brake repair settlement because they had no idea that these cars would still be around 18 years later. A great car overall. GM should return to this quality of vehicle.
I love this car
I have had my Lumina for five years and it runs great. When it hit 100,000 miles, I had to have some work done on it but after that there were no problems. In 2002, the air conditioner broke and I decided to sell it because I live in Florida. It now has 140,000 miles and is running great. I will miss it.
EXCELLENT OVERALL
NOW AHVE 220000 MILES AND STILL NO PROBLEMS. HAVE REPLACED ALTERNATOR, WATER PUMP, AND BRAKES (NORMAL WEAR). GREAT MILEAGE, VERY RELIABLE AND CHEAP TO RUN.
207000 AND STILL RUNNING!
I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed my car. I have changed the oil every 3k miles and have owned it 9 years. 207,000 miles later, it is starting to let me know it's tired. I would guess so!! Although brakes are notorius on the '91, the other repairs I've made have been minimal. I just replaced the original cat converter & muffler just last week. The engine and transmission have NEVER had problems and are still original. I have just standard plain 'ol basic interior and still looks good.....except for the dog hair!
Lumina: sporty and functional
I have had this car for almost 4 years now. I love it as much as the day I bought it. It is fast, comfortable, has an awesome loud exhaust sound, and a great stereo. It has had a few minor problems like fuel pressure regulator, TCC solenoid, and spark plug wires. Other than that, it has been close to perfect. Great brakes, contrary to what some say. Never touched them in four years, and they don't make a sound or hesitation. Very roomy car, mine fits six nicely.
Best Car ever built
I bought this car with 170,000 on it. I hoped it would last 6 months. I paid 1450.00 and it lasted 6 years!! I drive like a bat outa heck and this car has never failed me. Still goin' wuth 270,000 miles on it!
Would buy another
I bought this for $300 from a junkyard, who sold cars as trade-ins for other cars. Bought it with a broken engine mount, and after a 1200 mile trip the entire suspension is destroyed, but that's because of the normal wear and tear. This is still going strong at 179k miles, and I would rather pay to have this entire car fixed than actually buy another one. Even if I don't, i'm keeping the body to toss a 305 in, just to take it to the strip, thats how much i love this car!
An ok car
Its an alright car but it could get better. Not bad for a first car.
Lumina, 1991
I have a 1991 Chev. Lumina. It has 171,000 miles on it and it runs great. We have never had any problems with it. It is one of the best cars that I have ever owned. I would put it up against anything.
OK car, bad brakes
I bought this car 3 years ago and have had several problems. First, the rear brakes have had to be fixed numerous times, and still aren't right. But that's common for this car. I had to replace radiator when power steering pump blew up. It had a coolant system leak twice, had to replace intake manifold, and replace fuel pump and lines all in 3 years. But handles great with the 3.1L, has great visibility, and the AC and heating systems are the best I've ever experienced. AC will freeze you to death in 2 minutes!
