Good Cruiser But Disappointed With Chevy's Gearing
The interior is cheap yes. But so are other cars. I can look past that due to the car being reliable. One thing I did notice is the transmission. I like that it cruises at 2k at 80. But for one, it hesitates and gear hunts. I also believe the gears to be too tall. Of course it is a huge improvement over the old impala with the 4 speed. But usually in a v6 you should not have to even cross 2.5 rpms on the tachometer before going to second gear. This car takes off like a four cylinder on an incline, and it is not lively until higher speeds are achieved. It is not bad but not good. Hopefully the newer ones are better
Its driveable
I bought mine used so it had problems to begin with. the seat electrical tilt was broken at 99k. In between 99k and 140k I replaced the thermostat, thermostat sensor, water pump, transmission cooler line and the radiator. At about 110k the traction control started malfunctioning, and now i have to turn it off every time before i start driving. the resistor for the AC/Heater fan switch malfunctions so every now and again the fan doesn't blow. I have to mess with the actual plug under the glove box to get it to work. The line that connects the back window defroster came undone so that doesn't work. I gave it 3 stars because i really want to like this car. without all the little but expensive problems this would actually be a great car. I really like the engine and the pick up speed.

great medium sized car from Chev.
We bought our 2012 Impala used in 2015. Overall, it has been a very dependable car. For a mid sized car, the ride is very comfortable and the handling is very good. I call it mid sized because that's what it is compared to the full sized Chev Impalas that used to be. It has the standard features like cruise; tilt; A.C.; power windows and locks; and a few others, which is all one needs in an automobile. The more electronics you have , the more to go wrong. And over time, electronics will give you issues. With the six speed tranny and 302 H.P. V6, I get 43 miles per gallon with the cruise set at 113 km. per hour., if there is not much of a headwind. And, more than enough get up and go at any speed. I would buy another one.
2012 Chevrolet Impala
Purchased used with about 16k miles on it and it was a great car for a long time. Comfortable, spacious and I kept all the maintenance and oil changes done. But when it got a little over 100k miles on it the car started acting strange. It would stall and lunge in traffic, I almost got hit by another vehicle. I had a friend that had one that was somewhere between a 2000-2005 model it was beige with the Impala emblem on the back and since she loved hers so much I decided to try this one. The Stability track light would come on and off, it started jerking so I took it to a garage. They kept it for a while and never could figure it out. It's been one thing and another so I will sell, trade.. something if I can't get it running. They say everyone can get a lemon sometimes and it hurts as I wanted to buy American as they say.

Loved my Impala
My impala was an excellent choice for me. Kept me safe, always reliable, fun to drive and affordable. I had no problems with my Impala. I owed a 2012 for 6 years. I will miss it and will definitely buy another. Love American made!
