It is June 2019. We just bought a brand new 2017 Enclave. Love the upgrades over our 2010 Enclave. The interior and exterior are pleasant improvements. The navigation system is still terrible. We bought the 2017 because it can be towed behind our motor home. The new Enclaves cannot be flat towed. My wife loved her 2010 and that feeling carries forward to the 2017. Buying a 2019 or 20 model car that offers Buick luxury and can be flat towed would cost $20K more than the price of our new 2017.

Had a 2012 Enclave and liked it. But on my new 2017 the DIC has been reengineered and controls work only sporadically. There is no longer a click or other sound to indicate the control has been effective. If often takes many touches and hard pushes and even then does not reliably work. Dealer was very helpful but no defect was found, just poor engineering. Over 17000 miles and I still hate the DIC. It is unreliable You have to take your eyes off the road to see if it accepted your command. Previous DIC was mechanical and once you heard or felt the click you knew the command had been accepted. Irritating

Vehicles on my short list: Mazda CX9, GMC Acadia Denali, Ford Explorer and the Honda Pilot. I was looking for an AWD people and "stuff" hauler that could take the family cross country in comfort, the lawnmower in for a tune-up and pull a light-weight trailer. The Enclave was the last vehicle that I looked at and was hands down my favorite. The pros: Plenty of room inside; Captains chairs in the second row that make getting to the 3rd row a breeze; Quality materials throughout; Smooth, (really) quiet ride; Responsive acceleration and braking; It had the safety features I was looking for. The cons: Compared to my Lexus, the transmission shifts are rather rough (which is no surprise); The gas pedal is REALLY sensitive; and the City gas mileage isn't as good as I would have liked. Finally, I personally like the styling. It isn't the 3-row me-too design that I see almost everywhere else.

Our Enclave is approaching 4 years old. Current mileage is a little over 13,000. It's only driven locally and then for trips. We have had no problems and the dealer has been very good to us. We shopped a lot of SUVs before deciding on the Enclave. We didn't shop the any of the European brands, but most everything else. Our final three were the Enclave, Explorer Platinum, and the Mazda. The Mazda was probably the best for handling but seemed a little under powered, The Explorer Platinum had a whole lot of power and rode and drove very well. What the Enclave lacked in power, it more than made up for with ride and capacity. Plenty of room for 7 and and ample storage behind the third row. With the third row seats down, we have plenty of room for excursions to the mountains for 4 with no concerns for cargo space. The engine may not be as powerful as others, but it has enough for us including mountain driving. A couple of oil changes and a tire rotation I think is all it's needed. For us the Enclave has been such a pleasure to drive on long distance drives. When you reach your destination, you don't feel like a horse that's been rode hard and put away wet.
