2001 BMW X5 4.4i AWD 4dr SUV (4.4L 8cyl 5A)

I love this car. It is without
question the most fun SUV to drive on
the market.

If you've driven a Ford Expedition or
the like, take an X5 for a test
drive. If you are driving enthusiast,
you'll never want to drive anything
else. The handling is amazing in a
vehicle of this type and weight.

That being said, it leaves a lot to be
desired in terms of build quality. Or
let me just say that BMW X5 build
quality can be summed up in two words:
it sucks.

If you buy a new one, do yourself a
favor and get the longest extended
warranty you can (100k miles, I
believe)... that's assuming you plan
to keep it that long.

Best Features

Handling, especially on twisty roads. Park distance control! V8 engine

Worst Features

# 1 issue: make the cargo area larger by 6 inches! Have the German engineers spend some time learning about 'quality control' and 'build quality' from the Japanese. Why aren't the headrests powered like in the 5 series sedans?
