M3, the only 3 series to own.
Had a very good experience with this car. There are a few minor areas of the car that almost demand upgrades or replacements near or before the 50k mile mark. Rear strut mnts are rubber and sqeak upon failure. These can be replaced 4 $80 + labor. Clutch stop & short shifter need replaced as origs. are too tall & sloppy. Suggest UUC for upgrds. Service is covered for 4yr/50k but I dread service @ both Dallas area dealers. This has been the worst part of owning the M3. I could not wait until the warranty xpired so I could take it to another BMW shop in Plano. It's too bad the service is slow, unprofessional & inconsistent.
Could be better
This car has amazing performance and styling. However, the interior craftsmanship leaves something to be desired. The steering wheel vibrates and makes noises, as does the dashboard. It is frustrating to think how much I paid for this vehicle, only to listen to constant cabin noise. With high performance tires, this car is useless in the snow. Also, the trunk-mounted CD changer skips regulary on less than perfect surfaces. All in all, the performance will leave you grinning after every drive.

Best deal to be had!
The car is excellent all around. With this bmw, you get it all - style, performance, luxury, and BMW prestige. You can drive in all types of weather, including snow with snow tires, without any problems (except that you'll find yourself wanting to garage it in the winter!). I drive my m3 hard, and it has always performed flawlessly. I am impressed with all of its performance characterics. Don't let small HP and torque number fool you - the germans really know how to put the power onto the pavement with this car. The trunk is plenty big, the back seats could be bigger. Reliability has been excellent with proper maintenance.
BMW M3 Still Impresses
I am 24 and was on the hunt for my first car, I really wanted an s4, but couldn't find the right price. I test drove the M3, and fell in love. Bought on the spot. The car has been a champ. Pulls off the line like a bat out of hell. The gearbox is smooth and crisp. Brakes are not bad. Sound system is ok, but could be better. Oil changes need to be performed frequently. The car is a lot of fun to drive. You find people want to race you all the time, S4 especially! In the winter get snow tires or store it.
