2013 Geneva Auto Show: Honda Civic Tourer

2013 Geneva Auto Show

What is it?
Honda Civic Tourer

What's special about it?
The Honda Civic Tourer is proof that Honda should put its European design studio in charge of more projects, including the ones that end up in North America. This wagon version of the European Civic looks sporty and modern. It's everything that the Honda Crosstour is not.

In the usual Honda way, this concept car has no interior, but the styling is obviously close to final. The automaker says the production version will debut in Frankfurt, and it will lose the not-very-practical center-exit exhaust and probably go down a wheel-tire size in the process. We hope the concealed rear door handles will stay.

Of course, the Honda Civic Tourer is not coming to the United States, and for good reason. First, we don't like straight-up station wagons. It's a fact. Second, the European Honda Civic is a different car from the Civic we have in the U.S. It's smaller and uses a twist-beam rear suspension. We'll stick with our independent rear suspension, thank you.

Edmunds.com says:
Let the designers who worked on this project take the lead in styling the next-generation Crosstour and Pilot.
