Beautiful Car but...
It is a great drive and an absolutely beautiful car but too many problems in too little time. Broke down and needed to replace a part within the first month
2004 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro (manual)
Only problem experienced has been a reoccuring one, involving the face plate on the driver instrumentation panel becoming loose, and it causes quite a distracting/distrubing noise. Taken in for repair twice, but seems to last only a few weeks before problem resurfaces. Otherwise, the car has been a pleasure, first-time owner but sure to be a loyal owner in the future...quattro performs amazingly well in icy conditions.

I am having too much fun
I drove both 325 and A4 and decided that there wasn't much difference between the handling, and went for more bang for the money. The car handles great, really good pick up, and excellent fuel economy. And most of all, it is a fun car to drive. I needed some getting used to the CVT, but now that I am used to the smoothness, I am really happy with it.
Great Second Car
I purchased a used 2004 3.0 Quattro with 5 speed auto for a second car. I'm quite impressed with the fit and finish and not a squeak in a car with 59000 miles on it. It's quick, smooth and fun to drive. I had a 2001 BMW 530 and swear this car rides better, feels faster and matches the Bimmer in every comfort category.
A4 1.8T Quattro LOADED
I love my new car.....everything about it. It looks good, sounds good and is so incredibly fun to drive.
Best Car I have ever owned
I love this car. I has a BMW 3 and I just liked the ride better in the Audi. I felt too "on the ground" with the BMW. I like the job Audi is doing with their new products!!!! Thanks Audi!!
2004 1.8T 6M Quattro Ultrasport
Bought the Ultrasport as it was a knock- out sitting on the showroom floor. The visual difference between the Ultra and the stock car is so vast, the additional dollars don't seem to matter. You know you've got a great looking car when valet's comment on it and people ask about it at the car wash. The car is a hoot to drive, and is very responsive. The Quattro system, while adding weight, certainly picks up the slack in curves or slick roads. Audi could kick up the HP and I wouldn't mind, in fact, that is all I would ask for at this point, 20 or 30 more horses. The engine itself is great fun, with more personality than the 3.0. I love this car.
n/a
I have been more then satisfied with this car. It has had no problems and is alot of fun to drive.
Great 1.8t A-4
Great piece of machinery. I had the 96 a4 2.8 when they first came into the states & the new 2004 1.8t is an huge improvement. Love the car & so does my wife when I let her drive it. ;)
avoid audi and vw!!!
have it for 6 months, its been in the shop for 2,vw/audi doesnt have parts! upon any problems u will wait a month for parts,& very lucky to receive a courtesy car..the sport suspension is horrible! believe me,i drove benz bmw & lexus, this suspension is horrible, u might as well throw a horse in the front and call it a day..the pickup is a nightmare but the car glides at 85..i wish i can say, get this car, but dont!i have every option on the car & the only good thing about this car is the bose system..good luck..oh yea the low profile tires look nice, but i was slippin and sliding on the snow which i didnt expect from a quattro ..gonna need winter tires!
Love my A4
I traded in a Chrysler Sebring Convertible (that I loved) and I've never looked back. I get lots of comments on the A4's elegant looks, esp. the way it looks with the top down since it hides away in the trunk. The care is a little slow off the line, but once up to speed, I have no complaints. (I have the 1.8 turbo) I also love the service at the Audi dealership.
Excellent
I love this car. It's sporty, yet has enough room to carry stuff and people. I recommend it to everyone.
DROP TOP FUN...
The AUDI Convertible is just a very fun automobile with it's sporty design and classy appeal. The car is one of a kind, standing out in the crowd and definately making a statement that this is one automobile that is strong is looks as well as performance, german engineered. WAY to go AUDI!!
Luxury Rag Top
I am thrilled with my new Audi. I have had convertibles before, but nothing like this! It is awsome. Would love to have the bigger engine, but the 1.8 tubo is hot with the tiptronic transmission. The Moro Blue Pearl with the dark blue top is gorgeous. This car is a great cruiser for my Smoky Mountains.
Pefect balance
The interior quality is 100% top notch, everything is thick and solid. 3.0 CVT has plenty of power, esp on the drive acceleration. Not too fast off the line but definitely gets you to 100mph pretty quickly. Didn't buy the car to race, instead bought it for all the little luxury features. Ride is bumpy with the sport package on LA streets. On other hand, the lowered suspension and 17" wheels makes the car look very sleek. Bose package is good, not great. 6 disc changer is well worth it but for the extra wattage I thought the stereo would have more kick. Overall, a perfect balance between good looks, great luxury features and solid performance handling.
Get used to it, and love it.
Excessive mechanical problems early (radio amp, roofliner, window closure, power steering) fixed by dealer. Audi extended warranty by 1 year for the inconvenience. No gears-strange initially, but a dream later on. CVT is deliciously smooth. Time the slight turbo lag, hit the gas a split second early. Computerized triptonic creates 6 gears to move through if you like. Punch through corners, enjoy quiet at speed. Power isn't extreme, but solid. I recommend the upgraded stereo and 17-inch rims, without sport suspension. The car is tight enough without it. Not everyone will have this car, but you don't want to be like everyone else, do you...?
overall good deal
The Audi A4 convertible is a great car and fun to drive. I have had issues with the top not operating properly and the middle brake light cycling on and off, but overall a great little car.
my Audi
Excellent car. Needs a little more power but you can chip the Turbo model for about $600-700. Everything about it besides the power is great. A jewel of a car. It's one of the best kept secrets in the auto world. Don't let it out!
a4
I'm very disappointed with the resale value of this car. My BMW had much better resale value.
poor reliability
I am second generation Audi owner. I strongly doubt I would buy another. The reliability and resale value is poor at best.In addition I have had problem with power steering, been to two dealers, had it changed twice and still have problem. It could use a little more power as well.
Da Bomb
So here goes....I must say this is the very best car I have ever drivin. The car has unbelievable power for such a small car. In addition to this the customer service at the dealership has been great. The most impressive feature is how the car lights up at night. So far I have shown this car to alot of people and most just looking at it want to go get one. Just be careful you will get some speedin tixs with this speedster.
Loving It!!!!!!
I just bought my 2004 A4 1.8T 6M, Brilliant black, w/prem., sport and lighting. I've been reading and researching this vehilce for a few years and have finally made my move, couldn't be happier. I have loved this car for years and owning one has not changed my opinion. I could spend hours just staring at it. I beleive that Audi has come a long way with there reliability and look forward to having many years of pure bliss.
Euope
Crome around gear shift scratches too easily. High pitched whistle when excelling. When waxing the car the exterior seems is fragile.
a great car
an outstanding car that feels much more expensive than it is.
Audi Convertible
Great ride, however I am having an ongoing problem with the Turbo Intake Hose, I have been back to the dealer 4 times in 4 months!
By far the best car I've owned
The more I drive it, the more I love it. The 4 cylinder engine is terrific, I've put it through so much abuse yet after 17,000 miles absolutely nothing has gone wrong. Everyone who has been inside the car has enjoyed its comfort and the ambiance created by the red dashboard lighting. Thus far I have not heard a bad comment about any of the cars features. Ride comfort at all speeds and any road is imaculate, even with the sport suspension. Audi has done a terrific job when they created this car, they had "driver friendly" & "passenger comfort" during the crafting process. I will definately be a repeat buyer
Wow
I have been a Volkswagen owner for the last 6 years and I just bought my first Audi. It is simply an extension of the quality the Volkswagen puts in their complete line. It's a great car!! The handling is superb and the interior is even better!! I compared with BMW and bang for the buck, Audi is a better buy in the upscale category. For all of those of you who are looking for a family car or those of you who are single active people, the A4 Avant is certainly the best wagon out there. Get one, you won't be dissapointed!!
ultra sport
ultra sport pkg really sets this car apart from the rest. Cannt say enough about the quattro system, this car corners.
1.8t
I love my car, great price, great look. The only bad thing that have is the front bumper is too patch to the floor and in the street of Puerto Rico is a problem. But this car is great. The best car I ever have. Best than a Volvo C70, BMW 335, Mercedez CLK, Saab or Volkswagon.
Major Let Down
Bought this car used July 4th, 2008. Immaculate condition. No dents, no scraps, everything worked! One month into it, the auto leveling headlghts malfunctioned, power windows failed, Pirelli tires were awful! Then, coil packs failed, engined missfired and had to be towed away! Rattles galore! I love the engine sound, interior style, material quality and over all subtle style. If you're gonna buy this car buy a good after market warranty, and have it inspected thouroughly before purchasing!
2004 A4
THIS IS MY SECOND AUDI, BUT THIS ONE IS SO MUCH BETTER THEN MY 2000 A6 WAS
Poor front seats, too much road noise
There is much to praise about this car. Few cars at any price can match the elegance of its interior design. The 6-speed is snick-snick smooth. But this car is much better suited for short urban trips than long-distance highway cuising. Front seats are far too hard and not very supportive unless you're smaller than average. Road noise is intrusive, especially on rough road surfaces. HVAC is drafty unless regulated manually.
Quattro is great but be careful
If you live somewhere where it rains or snows frequently (i.e. the Northeast) definitely look at this car. Don't waste your time with the 1.8T engine. I know I said be careful but I would buy another one in a second (my wife drives an A6). I have had some problems with climate control and had a major gas leak!! Audi's warranty and service has taken care of it no problem though. Highly recommended to people who like to drive but want good German performance. Warranty is excellent too.
1st Ultra Sport in the country
I got my car on the 1st of nov. and have been loving it ever since! the ultra sport option is great! the wheels, interior, bodywork, all totally worth it! my previous car was a 1.8T jetta, and I don't miss the extra 10hp, as the quattro is well worth it. the handling is better than all the others that I drove 325/330, c230K, G35,and9/3 saab. plus it has the best interior design, and the quality far superior to the rest! BMWhat? I won't ever buy anything else.
A$ Conv 1.8T
Could improve low end torque
Audi Does it right!
This is a kickass fun car to drive -the quattro is fantastic and the 1.8 turbo is peppy enough. Overall ride is racing tight but still comfortable for everday driving. The styling is "classy edge"- not beemer commom and not lexus staid- just CLEAN. Interior is clean, not overdone but stylish with great touches -like the storage bins under the seat. But get the sports package and the manual for true fun.
Price/Value is great for this car
The combination of the quattro and the six speed make this a geeat car for me. I was looking for a fun to drive manual transmission equiped vehicle and settled on the A4. I considered Mini, BMW 3-series and MB C-class. Mini was too small but tons of fun and the Audi won over the others for features/price reasons.
A4
Fun car to drive and handles well. Audi and VW can capture drivers on the appearance and handling alone.
As close to perfect
The 3.0 6 Speed I just picked up is as close to perfect as any automobile ever made. Prior to this car I had a 1998 2.8 quattro that I thought was very hard to improve upon. Audi has done it with the 2004 A4. The driving characteristics and refinement has improved while sacrificing litte of the edgy performance feel of the prior model. The fit and finish of this car is impecable. Having recently been in a Mercedes S500 and BMW 745i, I believe the interior quality of my new A4 is superior. The Dolphin Gray Exterior and Platinum interior make for one beutiful machine.
why
great car have no ideas on how to improve it. Fun to drive and very confortable
A4 is amazing
For the money the best car on the road. I've driven in torential downpours at 80mph and the car didn't budge. I also have a BMW and I must say they handle about the same.
Supreme Sports Sedan
There are few thing that could be done to improve this vehicle. It is eight grand cheaper than an equivialant BMW. Both the A4 3.0 quattro and BMW 330xi are great cars, but the eight grand is more enjoyable in my pocket than the dealers. Service is first-rate.
You can't be happy without Quattro
I love my new audi. Quattro is such a great feature... My new audi is so much more fun and cleaner lookin then my Infiniti Q45.
Solid
The is fun to drive. There is some low end turbo lag. Fit and finish is excellent. Handles well.
EJNLMN Great Avant
This car is a sports car discuised as a wagon. It's fun to drive, responsive with the 3.0 quattro and stick shift. I could use more leg width and less console, my only real gripe.
Great Car to be IN
Just like it ALL. Interior finish is Amazing!!
A4 1.8T Front Track 5Sp Manual
Two words......Awsome Car!!!!! i owned a passat GLS 1.8T 5sp Man. the suspension was very soft for me. The A4 is in NO WAY like the passat....much better fit and finish (not that the passat was lacking) everything in the car just feels and operates like its of the highest of quality. looked at the BMW 325i with sport package....found it to be pretty lame in comparison to this A4. for the money you can get faster cars but handling and quality dont compare. Sport suspension is very tight on the A4 so expect a VERY firm ride. But its worth it when you zip around corners.
My Audi
I love the Audi A4. I love the way it looks and it's a great price for a luxury vehicle. It's fun to drive because of it's sporty grip on the road but does lack horse power. The interior is designed beautifully but it has very little space in the back seat, yet a ironically large trunk. Being the back seat is so small it does not make a good small family vehicle. Other than that, I love the car.
Classy but fun
Love this car! Have been driving this car since July 2002 and have not had any problems. The fit and finish is world class and the "fun factor" is nothing less. Overall ride is very comfortable while maintaining its sportiness. The safety features were key when purchasing this car but have since been forgotten as this is such a great car to drive. Usually dislike taking cars into service, however, Audi seems to go out of their way to make things just right for the owner/ driver. Fantastic customer service. I would highly recommend Audi.
Buy it, but not an S4
chip it = love it
