I waited too much
I don't know how I waited that long to have suche A+ class car. Great product, confortable, it fits perfectly for and average 5'10 to 6 foot tall people. Great performace once you put your RPMs over 3000. The 6SP tends to rev really fast, so the first 3 gears have to be changed quickly. The torque under 2100 just pushes the car a bit, the the turbo comes and nails you to the seat (careful departing from stop signs). Really happy with the car. PERFECT for daily commute. As for the shark fin... just try to ignore it.
No Disappointments

Audi A4 convert.
This is my wife's car. Very easy to park. The trunk is a little small. The sound system is excellent. The alloy wheels extend too far from the tire and have caused curb scratches on the finish. The cvt transmission is very fluid and quick for her. (She drove a 91 SAAB) She now has three speeding tickets. The sense of speed is not a factor. Very little wind speed and rear wind deflector works great.
good
this is the best car ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2003 Audi A4
The vehicle has ben flawless since purchased. The service is great superb warranty. This is my 3rd Audi and I love it even more than my last one.
3.0 L A4 FWD CVT
I have found my A4 to be an outstanding car. I have been very satisfied with the comfort, reliability, styling and road handling capabilities of the 3 liter FWD. I have to admit the 1st gear off the line in auto sometimes hesitates but a simple fix if you need the get into traffic acceleration is to switch to select manual. There is negligable drop in RPM when in auto at gear changes - if you can feel it-pure acceleration. Fuel ecomony is fine - if you don't dog it and cruise sensibly - below 65 - I have gotten 30 mpg on the highway - 20 in town. The non turbo 3 liter is a great engine.
Awesome
The A-4 is Simply Awesome! This is my 2nd Audi. I was happy with my '99 as well!
incredible car
I was really surprised how fun the A4 is to drive. I had owned a 1999 A6 Quatro 2.8L before I bought the A4. I thought the A4 would be less car, when in fact it turned out to be more. I love everything about this car. It sounds great handles well and is really fun to drive. It is my favorite car I have ever owned.
FLAWLESS
The car is unbelieveable. I've always wanted an Audi A4. Now that i own one, I cant keep myself out of it. My wife tells me that it's my second wife and that I'd rather have the car than her, which is very true. No, simply kidding. But, this car is great. It's fun to drive and it's nice to look at. Buy one! I do recommend it.
Just fun to drive at autobahn
Very responsive car on autobahn as well as highway. Fun to drive in summertime. Reliable car as well even in winter when it snows yet quattro (4wd) probably will be superior. However, storage space is generious compared to other convertables.
Outstanding!!
This is my second A4 The CVT transmission is a vast improvement with smooth and peppy acceleration. Our dealer's service department is especially outstanding, a strong factor in our decision to purchase another Audi
After all these years... still fun
OK. Had this car 5 years now and wanted to add some perspective to all these reviews. First, car is great and works very well. No major issues while under warranty. A few little things here and there -- warm up when cold is rough and car rattles a bit, cup holder finally bit the dust in dash and will never come out again. (Partly its own fault and partly my anger out of its complete uselessness). Low water light for window washer comes on for no reason. Out of warranty had to have some vacuum hose work done for $700. Overall the car is still great but with all the little nits and nags you would expect with any car after 5 years and 70k miles. Roof great and no leaks!
Excellent
This car is Great..I love Audi
2004 A4 AWD 1.8T SPT, Light, Bose
I purchased the 2004 Audi A4 about two months ago and so pleased in what I bought. I looked at and compared the Lexus ES 330, BMW 3 series, Volvo S60 and the Audi A4. With out any question I thought that the Audi out performed these competitors in handling, interior look, style and most of all price. The all wheel drive was so amazing in the snow that I was looking for snow terrain to plow through. The lighting package allows you to see much father and gives a clean and clearer visibility when driving at night.
A4
JUST SO MUCH FUN TO DRIVE
So little to criticize so much to like
All aspects - the tight engineering and design, the smart use of turbo in a 4 cyliner - add up to just a great purchase. One little complaint? The standard sound system is tinny at low decibels... of course easily cured by turning up the volume.
Good/Fun Car!
I have owned Audi for just about a year now! I am the type of person to get over my cars within a year. So far, I am still loving it! It handles great! I love to drive it long distances, due to how comfortable it is. It was between the BMW 325 CI or this and I am so glad I choose this car!
great car
The ride was fun, always a good experience. Gas mileage is pretty good, and so is just about everything else. Not exceptionally fast, but it does the job well.
A4 3.0 Quattro
I am a little dissapointed with some of the interior squeeks. But over all the car has been perfect.
Audi A4 Quattro
I've had my A4 for almost a year now. Driving this car is without a doubt one of the best driving experiences I've ever had. Great buy compared to the TL and 3 series. TL is a great car for the value, but the interior and exterior doesn't compare. The 3 series is too expensive once you added ANY features. A4 is by far the best bang for the buck. If you bargain right, you can add almost every option and still only spend around $31k-$32k. Some minor problems (listed below), but I end on this note, if you're in the market to get an entry-level luxury sedan, buy or lease an A4. You won't be disappointed.
Ken in Norway
This is my third Audi. I am a US Air Force officer stationed in Norway. Speed limits are very low here and the roads are small and twisty. This car wants to run, but it can't...however, the twists and hills make for some fun driving. I've driven my other Audis on the Autobahn, in DC and Idaho, all with outstanding results, I expect no less from this one. Good looking car, fun to drive.
new audi enthusiast in pa.
after 4 years with a 320clk the quality is outstanding,I have owned a bmw 325 and a nissan 280z and have never felt so satisfied while driving! What a car, I can't say enough about this car .............just drive it!
Only Time Will Tell.
I have only owned this car for about 4 1/2 months. And I love the cars design, material quality and control layout. Im very happy with the handeling and even the rather small engine. But there seems to be issues with the windows and rain sensor, there are a few plastic interior rattles that annoy me. The audio system is terrible (Symphony system). I'm not disappointed,
best deal in the way too expensive class
Simply nothing else anywhere near this good anywhere near this price.
Best Damn sports sedan
It's a great car thats fun to drive and has steering like a race car. It has great higher end acceleration but has turbo lag early on. The car would be perfect if the cup holders were easier to use.
The perfect car
This car handles like no car I have driven. Audi seems to have put the perfect suspension with the perfect weight and wheel base in the A4. Add the quatro system, that makes any other all wheel drive technology seem prehistoric, and you have one mean handling machine, whatever the road conditions. The design of the car is beautiful. The interior is sleek and stylish. Driver comfort is the perfect balance between a larger sedan and a sport coup. Sitting in the car and driving it is like putting on a soft leather glove.
My Audi
My Audi A4 is a fun car to drive. Even when I am commuting, sliding into the drivers seat brightens my day. The quick accelleration, sharp handling and luxury interior makes my day. Being the only sedan in the office able to drive through deep snow or ice also has it's advantages and the quattro drive is a pleasure.
Frequent repairs
I bought this Audi new, within the first year had to go back to the dealer 3 times for faulty airbags. Almost problem free since then, except a few minor issues: non-working headlight cleaners, burnt lights, filter problems. It just came out of warranty (>4 years) and the A/C compressor died, dealer wants to charge $2000 to replace it. I'm thinking of trading it since repair costs for this car are exorbitant. Drives very well in snow though!
excellent car audi a4 1.8 t
This is the BEST car I have ever owned . The performance is unbelievable. You cannot go wrong with buying this car.
Be prepared to spend $$$ on maintenance
It's great when it everything is in running order. I bought the car new and have since run it to 188k miles. At 115k, the engine died on me. Something came loose that ruined one of the cylinders. Fortunately, I have a friend who's a mechanic that was able to procure me a used engine with 60k on it. After that, the bushings had to be replaced and then the fuel pump. I love my car and still have it, but I don't think I'll buy Audi again. Too much money for maintenance and gas.
Amazing for the buck
Luv it, can't wait for the S4 Cab Quatro!! Lt. Slvr Blu
AMAZING AUDI
THE IMPROVEMENTS OVER MY '99 1.8T QUATTRO ARE A SUPRISE BUT GREATLY APPRECIATED. THE HANDLING WHEN PUSHED IS MORE ACCURATE AND RESPONSIVE. POWER AND ACCELERATION IS NOW AT THE MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE LEVLEL. THIS IS PARTIALY DUE TO A NEW SIX SPEED SMOOTH AS BUTTER MANUAL TRANSMISSION. BREAKING IS TRUE, STEADY AND ALMOST WATERPROOF EVEN THROUGH MAJOR FLOODING. CONVENIENCE DETAILS SUCH AS THE MINI VISOR BEHIND THE REAR VIEW MIRROR,DASH UTILITY/CHANGE TRAY AND STORAGE BOXES UNDER THE FRONT SEATS ARE GREAT IMPROVEMENTS. THIS CAR IS MADE FOR FORMER BMW FOLKS WHO DO NOT CARE ABOUT BADGING.
AUDI
Excellent overall quality!! Good value
JD Low Mileage A4
Original owner of this A4 for the past four years. Quality and performance are great with decent gas mileage. Audi maintenance covers everything during warranty and dealer's have provided exceptional service. I will buy another Audi in 2009, anxious to see how the trade in value holds.
best ever
best car to drive, sporty and elegant luxury. you cant ask for more!!!! plus it has the BEST INTERIOR of any Euro car. THANK YOU AUDI!!!!!!!!
500 miles so far..
.. and I LOVE it. I was going to get the TSX, until I drove the quattro. I'm about halfway through the break-in period, so I'm still trying to treat it gently. But it's so hard to restrain myself. I do not find the car to be at all underpowered (having most of the torque at 1950+ rpm helps). The ride is firm on the highway, but not punishing around town. It's super quiet. And the fit-and-finish inside and out is incredible, even in the trunk. Now I'm crossing my fingers my first Audi will be a reliable one.
A4 1.8T Quattro
Great car. Great dealer.
Not enough power? Get a pickup.
I have a hard time reading reviews about this car that state there's 'not enough power' . The 1.8T is a perfect match for this car, especially if you drive in adverse conditions as we do here in Canada on a regular basis. My A4 has about 1500 miles clocked and although by no means a rocket ship, is quite satisfying for an entry level LUXURY SPORT SEDAN. Want more power and the same level of sophistication? Get an S4. Before purchasing, I drove both the 3.0 and 1.8T. There isn't enough of a difference to justify the price for a 3.0. And you simply must get the 'Sport Package", Handles MUCH better and the lowered car just plain looks great.
A car for the REAL world!
The 3 series works well in dry weather but I needed a safe car thats smart enough direct power to the sticky part of the road when needed. I trust this car far beyond the limits of most other cars. I know when my wife and kids are traveling they have an incredible advantage. When you learn how to get the most from Quattro drives you earn a confidence few understand or will ever know. I driven Q's on the race track pushing the limit and beyond, they may be slightly slower to the next light but after a few S's, little rain or god forbid snow the 2 wheel drives are better off at home.
great car
This is my first car! I have driven others but this car beats them all. Quattro AWD system holds the road great. Drives better in the snow that my friend's SUV. Theres always a sense of control. Car has just enough pep. Tiptronic keeps you involed. Would reccomend this car to everyone!
Great Ride
The A4 is overall is a great choice. You don't have a choice though, with the A4, of going Quattro, unless you do the 3.0. It just takes too much power away from the front where you need the performance. Perfect ride. I highly recommend the 1.8 CVT. It's a smooth, smooth ride. You really begin to realize how annoying gear changes are in other automatics when you get out of the Audi and into other cars.
Awesome car!
Traded in my '99 for an '04. The interior is even classier than the original, the seats are more comfortable. This car is a pleasure to drive in any weather. Test drove the 3- series, c-class, TSX and G35 and none even compared to my previous A4. The 3- series handles very similarly, but lacks 4-wheel drive and costs too much money when considering features and interior quality. Audi dealers seem to be fancying up their facilities and services to compete with other luxury makes, and my dealer was great with servicing my previous A4. I would definately recommend this car to anyone.
Great Car For The Money
Took delivery of my 04 in August and still try to find reasons to get myself behind the wheel. If you're coming from a faster car it may be a bit slow for you (not the case for me). The "Turbo Lag" is not an issue on the automatic in my opinion. Overall I've never owned a better car and still try to find reasons why this car isn't perfect. There were some reported issues in the original B6 platform models (2002-3 A4's) but those have been resolved (mainly coilpack stuff). I hope anyone looking at a BMW 3 series or Saab 9-3 has a look at the Audi, it certainly has something to offer.
2004 silver ultra sports 1.8T
When I first saw the car I loved it. It's fun to drive with an all wheel drive system, very comfortable and well built. The only bad thing that I had was the 2 weeks after I got the car the coil pack went out, which mean miss fire on one of the cylinders. Easy fix, and that's the only problem I have, since then it's been a joy ride.
A *nearly perfect car
I purchased this car w/ 44K and now have 79K on it. You can't beat the tasteful, subtle but sporty styling and the interior design and quality is impeccable. Apart from the lack of power (170hp in a 3400lb car just can't compare to its rivals in terms of acceleration), but the quattro all-wheel-drive system all but makes up for it in the twisties and it moves like a much lighter, more balanced car. Like almost all 1.8T owners I've had to replace my coil packs (I opted to upgrade to aftermarket Hitachi plugs instead of the OEM versions). A new clutch was also required at 75K, but that may have been due to the previous owner's driving style. I love my car and will drive it until it's dead.
A4 is way better than a 330i
Complements is what you get from this car. Once you start to drive this car off the lot you will notice the extreme smoothness of the engine and transmission. Not to mention the handling is a true pleasure. I have really tested this car out now for the past six months and I have been able to keep up with M3s on the 110 between downtown and Pasadena. In the LA rain you have the full confidence of Quattro and stability control. If you havent ever driven Quattro in the rain, well youre missing out on some serious traction. The upgraded Bose system is so crisp and ear piercingly loud. People who know cars buy Audi who dont buy BMW.
Great!
Wow! This car is great! Great perfomance, great handling.
Great car, but why a cassete player?
Great car! I just wonder why they put a cassete player in this car. It does not make sense. It has been like 3 years I've seen a cassete tape for the last time. If you have money to buy this car, having a cd should not be a problem. Audi should offer that as an optional for those that want a 2004 car with with a 1970 audio system. Overall great!
A4 1.8T Wagon Practically Rocks
This practical yet fun to drive wagon is the best of both worlds. The 1.8T engine with Auto/Manual mode has a lot of giddyup and when you're cruising on the highway, I've gotten as much as 33 mph! Put the 2nd row seats down and the cargo space is awesome. I get some looks when I load the stuff in there. This Audi is so much more reliable than the Lexus IS300 Sportcross I had. Only 1 10,000 mile checkup vs. 6 times into the shop for the Lexus. (So much for the passionate pursuit of perfection) Audi uber alles!
Awsome!
I now have had my A4 ultrasport for 4 years and 80000 miles. I have had no major problems. It is an awsome car and it is amazing to drive. I highly recomend this car!
