Not Luxury Car Quality

Its an ok car, but maybe I set my standards too high, the quality and craftsmanship compared to the germans or to even lexus is sorely lacking. I am downright shocked, I can see carpet staples, the carpeting stops in odd places so it looks cheap, the fake wood is horrible...some hard to touch interior parts. The service is horrible, at two dealers, one makes excuses, I point out issues and he shows me new models that have the same issues...such as a sticking glove box handle, squeaking at the b-pillar, hood plastic cushions that fall off, etc. Outside of the relatively poor build quality and craftsmanship (clearly not built in japan mind you) its an ok car, but acura needs to improve. Update: Its been four years with the car...my initial review has not changed, as time wears on the car runs rougher...it revs higher and hold its too long...dealer says its normal. Cannot wait to move on to my next vehicle, this one has been a bust.

I've owned many cars at this point in my life (everything from Ford to Porsche 911) so I'm pretty experienced in the car world. I've learned to avoid all american made cars, buy Honda or Toyota if you have a tighter budget and want reliability, buy German if you want exceptional design and performance but be prepared for costly repairs. I had a second kid and needed more space but wasn't doing the van life so I decided on the MDX. When I took it for a test drive everything was great, it's been nothing but problems since then. The RPM's would bounce up and down at certain speeds or going up hills, almost like it didn't know whether to shift or not...found out the differential fluid had to get flushed which solved the issue but cost $1k. Then the brake pedal started getting squishy and something was wrong, had to have the master brake cylinder replaced, pads replaced and rotors shaved, $1,500. Now my light came on yesterday for the traction control system. The hood kept falling on my head so I replaced the shocks. Sway bar and sway bar links had to be replaced due to serious clunking noise when hitting bumps, $1,600. Every other month something is wrong with it, I'm super disappointed. The pros: The leather seats are nice quality and comfortable, interior is spacious, love the 3rd row. The cons: Uses oil. The gas mileage is TERRIBLE, you can watch the needle go down. It's a six-cylinder yet it feels underpowered. My wife's X3 has a turbo 4-cylinder and it's WAY quicker and better on gas. There have been non stop repairs that are expensive. The speakers suck, the stereo system in both of my Mini Coopers was far superior. The decimals are loud at highway speeds. I'm already planning what my next vehicle will be and it won't be an Acura.

I bought this car used after one owner and about 20,000 miles. I have had it ever since and now at 147,000 miles. I have had all the recommended maintenance done at a dealer. I have only had a couple of minor repairs: burned out light bulbs, replaced hood support struts. This car has been fantastic and I have no plans to replace it

Best car we've had. So pleased we have bought a 2022 MDX Tech. We plan to keep the 2012 for a second car. It is like new and has plenty of life left after 10 yrs and 130,000+ miles
