I have a 2004 Jaguar S-Type with 60,000 miles. After the car was at the dealer ALL WEEK for tests, I was told I needed a new transmission. They performed every test, electrical, sensors, etc etc and could not determine the problem for four days !!!! I had a light come on saying "Gear Box Fault" twice while backing out of my garage. With very low miles, 37,000. British racing green, all the bells and whistles, and so far I love it. Then again just got it this past sat :) Drove a BMW, Mercedes and a comparable Lexus and no comparison. Jaguar is way more luxurious and a better ride. It's a really beautiful car. As long as the transmission or engine doesn't fall out I'll be a happy camper!

I saw uncut keys on there as well. In fact I have been very careful about getting the oil and filter changed. Now I am left with a $8,000 bill for the repair. I would never have expected this failure. Rest assure I ... Read More

My 2003 S-Type Jaguar had excess wear and was making rearwheel noise(padwear indicators) at about 16,000 miles in September 2004. I brought it in to the dealer and they changed the rear rotors and pads at no cost. The service manager told me that there was a known problem that the rotors and pads were not of the right metal composition. After replacing the parts however, the pads/rotors became very hot ... tfm, some insight...... Maintenance is free on Jaguars for 4 years 50,000 miles. Spark plugs last 100K and oil changes are infrequent. The X-Type was recently rated the highest quality car from Europe, with the X-Type assembly plant earning the highest award from JDPowers in 2005. Jaguar powertrains were just rated the highest quality powertrains of any manufacturer in the world by the 2005 JD power survey. Jaguar was rated #2 ... Read More

  • 2004 Jaguar X J - transmission issues

Written by: judiblanken on May 23, 2005 9:39:32 PM

We are having problems with the new transmission in the 2004 Jaguar. On occasion it will not shift from 2nd to 3rd properly - can race to 4400 rpm, will jerk into gear and/or will roar the engine. We have not been able to have it fixed, because, again, the Scottsdale dealer says they cannot duplicate the problem. Has anyone else had this sort of problem?

I saw detailed photos, NOT drawings of the 2005 S Jaguar. The taillights are changed ever so slightly it is hard to notice. As for the interior you will be able to get two color leather seats. If you don't like the wood dash you can have brushed aluminum dash appointments. The most noticable exterior feature is that the tops of all 4 headlights (12 o'clock position) are on the same ... This board seems to have slipped from, "let's all comment on this problem" to "let's all try to discredit the poster" This is sad to me.   I will not apologize for saying "towed" instead of "transported". Redrockbunny, there are some more problems: 1) The board never assumed it was towed. You explictly said "The dealer came up and...towed the car to Scottsdale, AZ". That is as clear as it could be. What makes this significant is your twisting the authorship of this around and blaming it on the board. Also, in my experience Jaguar dealers just don't use a tow truck to move a new vehicle. In ... Read More
