2011 Ford F-250 Super Duty SuperCab Lariat 4dr SuperCab 4WD SB (6.2L 8cyl 6A)

Review

This 2011 6.7 Diesel is powerful, quiet and still gives good fuel economy. The interior is fantastic. It's functional yet has many features that you'd find in a high end car. I am really impressed with the insync and display functions. I've gotten several comments from co-workers, envious of this vehicle. I love this truck!

Favorite Features

Power, insync and build quality.

Suggested Improvements

Add a garage door opening feature standard.

Review

Only have had my new Powerstroke F250 one week, and just love it! Getting ready to purchase a slide in camper, so started with the truck first. I definitely won't have any problems with any RV I choose. This truck is a true workhorse with indescribable power, but still has all the bells and whistles to make you want to drive it every day. Only have 150 miles on it so far, so can't really assess fuel economy or build quality just yet, but my first impression is great. I would be surprised if this would change over time. Very important for me to buy American - built in the Bluegrass State. Keep up the good work, Ford. You've got a great vehicle!

Favorite Features

6.7 L Powerstroke engine! 800 ft lbs of torque - what can I say! Great styling - no questions it is a rugged truck. Lariat package with comfortable seats -at 6'2" no problems. LCD Productivity Screen is high tech. Sync system works great with phone and Ipod. Remote start works from my bedroom!

Suggested Improvements

Nothing really, but to nitpick, there needs to be more interior lighting. Need rear dome light in cab, plus foot well lighting would be nice. Maybe ambient lighting a-la Ford's CUV's? Enhanced gauge package with LCD screen to include pyrometer, oil pressure, voltage, tire pressure, etc.

Review

Mixed driving around town and highway the truck, unloaded, operated at 14.2 MPG. Used the truck on a 3500 mile trip loaded with a slide-in camper - it did not do so well. Operated at 10.0 to 13.5 MPG depending on terrain and wind conditions. Struggled with highway speeds - most times could not maintain highway speed - disappointed with the lack of torque and power. The drive train needs to be repaired as the universal joints are already sloppy (they clang-ring whenever transmission is put into 'D' or 'R' from 'P'). From all indication the title 'super duty' is a misnomer. Camper weight = 2240 lbs, only a fraction of what FoMoCo advertises the truck can handle. Pretty sad indeed.

Favorite Features

I got the truck in white - helps with the heat in Texas.

Suggested Improvements

Fuel consumption is excessive, torque is anemic, needs efans to reduce parasitic losses, metal grill mesh to protect heat exchangers from thrown rocks from going through the cheapo plastic grill (what was FoMoCo thinking?), more aggressive engine management to address low and narrow torque output.

Review

Overall the truck seems fantastic. Comfortable, powerful, quiet, and functional. Glad to have it. A couple of concerns. Went from a 1999 Crew SWB to this 2011 Super Cab LWB. Was counting on using all the space behind the drivers seat, but was surprised to find the woofer for the stereo under the back drivers side seat. Second issue is that the truck has been unable to move coming out of uphill parking lots, under heavy load (large horse trailer). Seems to be a tow control issue. Have to put the truck in park, shutdown, turn back on to get moving. Ford is looking into the issue, as it is easy to duplicate. It is stuck in 3rd according to Ford during this failure state.

Favorite Features

Diesel Power! Sync feature. Captains a/c and heated seats. Remote control rear window. Back-up camera in the rear view mirror is crystal clear.

Suggested Improvements

Sunroof for SuperCab. Was available on Crew Cab only. Not loosing space to woofer. Colors scheme for dashboard makes it look busy.

Review

Nearly 1000 mi so far with no issues. Great mileage > 20 mpg. Tows nicely a 10K 5th wheel. Everyone notices how quiet it is with no smell. Bed is better with tie downs and built in hitch to frame. Older 1997 had fold down back seat to flat floor, this model has poor room in the super cab since seats do not fold down-thank the Feds for that. Outside is nice enough and the suspension and drive feel are more car-like than truck. Towing with new exhaust brake is excellent and as long as you don't push it up hills, it is great on mpg. Only neg is $$$$$ for what you get, needs splash guards. The new display screen is nice with instant mpg, miles to empty etc. Dodge is less exp. for similar.

Favorite Features

New hitch and display screen are very nice. Best thing is how quiet it is.

Suggested Improvements

Add splash guards, offer fold-down seats or even removable seats in supercab.
