Used 2005 Volkswagen Touareg Consumer Reviews
Amazing truck
This is truly an amazing vehicle. Rides like a car, pulls more than all full size SUVs and the design is nice.
If I listened to what they told me
Everyone said don't buy one..."They're unreliable... Read consumer ratings"...etc. I was overwhelmed with the specifications, styling and detail, appearance and ride. I have owned 3 Jeep Grand Cherokees, a Land Rover Discovery, and few Mazdas. Other choices were BMW X3, Acura MDX, Volvo XC. This car has well exceeded any of them in engineering and detail. I haven't owned it long, so I can't vouch for the long-term reliability factor, but I have never liked a car this much. The car is loaded with standard features -- I only opted for the power seat upgrade. There are so many electronic features and controls that I am having to do my homework and read the manual / watch the video.

Steer Clear
I purchased my 2005 Touareg due to VW's reputation of quality and safety. At 1,200 miles it started to make horrible metal on metal sounds from the transmition that the dealership could not duplicate because once the transmition would warm up it would stop. Starting at 2,200 miles the headlights would occasionally decide to take a break. Again the dealership said all was well. Finally at 4,400 miles the SRS Airbag system failed. According to the dealership this means they will not deploy in a collision. The earliest time they would be able to repair it, but it would take two weeks. So it sits in the garage until then.
VW Owner
Great SUV to drive. There was no question after test driving the 4Runner & Jeep which was the best vehicle for the money.
Worth Every Penny
I purchased my Touareg new in October of 2005. I traded in my leased loaded up '03 GTI VR6 for the creme de le creme of VW's. I haven't had really any problems with it. I just wish I would've opted for the V8 to get some more ump once I press the accelerator. I would recommend this vehicle to any and everyone that likes to own vehicles that are not everywhere you look, i.e Grand Cherokees, Explorers, X5's, RX's, etc.
