Used 2018 Volkswagen Passat Sedan Consumer Reviews
First VW - Not the last
Roomy interior, huge trunk, MPG better than estimated. Smooth/quiet ride. Now after 3 years, still feel the same. The car runs flawless, gas mileage 30/40/35 city/hwy/comb. Can't give it up. Very classy looking in black w/gray interior.

So so sad!
I purchased a 2018 Volkswagen Passat r-line 2.0 turbo back in July of 2022. It drove good in the beginning and then January of 23 ( 6 months after purchase) the check engine light comes on. My heart sinks. Mind you this is my first car with my name on the loan that is in my opinion nicer than anything I had ever purchased. 20,000 may not sound like a lot for a car to some people; but it is a lot for me. Definitely don’t need to add on any more bills. So I took it in right away to auto zone to have them read the code on the car ( it was the closest place) and it showed a problem with the fuel emissions system. No other signs or symptoms. The tech at auto zone said that I could probably drive it home and then get it checked out soon. So then EPC light comes on along with a little loss of power on acceleration but when I removed my foot off the gas, it seemed to correct itself. I called the Volkswagen dealership where I purchased the car and told them the problem and made an appointment for the next day to be checked. I asked them if I could drive it in and they said yes just don’t push it, drive gently. I’m bummed but we did purchase the warranty which I think Is 3 years or 36,000 miles. We weee still within that range so warranty was valid. So they take it inside and I go sit in the waiting room. An hour and a half later (was also going to service the car. I had asked for a loaner car to do some errands while I was waiting but they said that they don’t do that unless I had a warranty. Which I had but they weren’t sure if what was wrong was covered under the warranty so I waited there. Long story short they bring me an estimate of $3500 for the work that needs to be done to my car new injectors, new spark plugs, a coolant flush and a few other things. Oh, and a tire pressure sensor light that will not go off and has been on now for quite a while even though my pressure is fine but they weren’t sure if that was actually going to be covered either so I told him not to touch my car and I took it home to my husband. So basically the $4000 warranty I purchased was of no use except to cover a broken oil pan. My husband and his auto body changed all the injectors changed all the spark plugs, coils, all the little extra parts that I don’t know yhe name of, a coolant flush, everything that needed to be fixed they fixed it. And fortunately weigh less than the $3500 they quoted me. Once it was fixed, everything was running great for about a day, and it starts over again. EPC light on loss of power, check engine light. It seems to always run a different code after we’ve fixed whatever code it was that was running before.. We have continued to drive on it which I know is probably not smart, but it’s my only option at the point. In the meantime, my husband has adjusted the spark plugs again and that seem to have made a big difference. It seemed ti be driving perfect for about a week. And then the other day, my check engine light blinks three times as I am accelerating on the highway with mild loss of power. We are at a loss. So yes, I am super super sad because I feel like I have wasted a bunch of money. Wanted to warn people. If anybody else has had this problem and they figured it out please let me know. Thank you.

Over Looked Gem
I am a car freak. Love my 2018 Passat GT V-6. Looks, Engine, Torque, Transmission, Power Curve, Interior, Dash, Brakes, etc. Easy to like because I don't like today's pin ball machines dash design or the modern angular/insect design today's autos Frankly, I love the interior. The only thing I don't like about the car is the suspension. Frankly, it doesn't have one. I like it so much, I put up with the budget basement suspension. I also immediately replaced the Continental tires, worthless in the winter, and replaced them with all season performance tires from General Tire. Remarkable improvement. Traction is not about AWD, but rather tire choice.

Great car for a great price
Bought the car used with 31k miles and it is still in like new condition. The car rides very smooth and has so much space. I love almost everything about this car, the only thing I would change is to add a little more power. It’s not slow but if it was a little more powerful it would truly be an all around amazing car.
