Great car
Only had it a few weeks, but it is an awesome car. The only thing I would change is making the rear view window bigger to look out of. Love it, love the ride, the handling, the price!
My first Passat
Only 2 months old, but love the car. Fun to drive. Looks great. No problems yet. the 1.8T with auto has plenty of power. Engine does make alittle noise when under load, but is quiet otherwise. No wind noise to speak of but there is some road noise. Overall love the car.

Decent
Bought this car after having a Jetta. Loved the Jetta; do NOT love the Passat. Gas mileage 23 combined at best. Recurrent problems that were "fixed" (front headlight shakes, lock/unlock button won't work, one of the locks stuck, window stuck open, screeching noise from dash when cold out and using fan, burning brakes smell) and the seat heater was burning me through the seat. (they repaired that for free though). Will not buy again!
Passat not as good as honda or nova
1st new car ever bought, came from a Chevy Nova with 280K miles, Mazda Protege with over 225K miles, my VW has died at 142,000 miles from the dreaded oil sludge issue. Didn't have any other major problems, car stills looks good, all the interior parts work well, but not willing to spend $5K plus to fix it, admit to now being disappointed in the car. I will not buy another VW.
Passats are the Lemons of VW
I've purchased my 2002 Passat in Nov. 2001. I loved the car "So i thought". the first week i had the car, one of the Headlights went out, 2 weeks later the fog lights went too, and more surprizes every month until last week when the ENG, EPC, and ASR light would all come on at the same time and the car would spuders, chokes, and stalls in the middle of traffic and had to restart it. The car has been at the Dealer ship's garage for four and still have no answer on what's causing the problem and how to go about repairing it. - suggestion to everyone -- Stay away if you can and buy the real thing, Audi, BMW, or Mercedes if you're in the market for a German car.
