The Car Drivers Wanted
I just bought the VW 2002 Passat...VW touts, "Drivers Wanted", I think this is the car that Drivers Wanted. I love the car! It drives like a dream and has really intelligent engineering features. My friends and family all want to drive it. I was in a friend's BMW 325-something last night, at 5'110", I was squished in the backseat...not so in the Passat...backseat has plenty of room and plenty of trunk room. I love the Tipronic. The controls and switches are simple and simply placed. Very nicely done and easy to use day or night. I love having dial gauges again! The car looks and drives smart!
Very Happy...
First off, I looked at quite a few cars before deciding on the Passat. I have to say that this is a very fun car, and is quiet at highway speeds, and surprisingly quick and powerful for such a small engine. Make sure you test drive the 1.8t and the V6, as these are two different cars entirely. Both have their strong points and personalities.

Great Car!
Great car. Expected to be underwhelmed, but the car more than met my expectations. On the highway, drives smooth - like butter! Highly recommend.
Never Again
My husband got fooled into buying this vehicle. We have had nothing but ongoing problems. We had a warranty, and unfortunately nothing was covered. The interior was falling apart, water pump went out, air conditioning broke, so on, and so on. The problem with these vehicles is that you CANNOT fix anything. You have to take it to a Volkswagen dealer. They have so many electrical problems that it isn't worth it. We traded it in, (for a Toyota) and didn't get anything out of it, but at least we have a reliable vehicle. Never again will we make the mistake of purchasing a Volkswagen.
Best for the Money
When comparing the BMW 3-series, Mercedes C240 Audi A4, Volvo S60, Jaguar X-Type- I fell right onto the Passat. Recieving the award as one of the 5 safest vehicles of all time- I fell in love. I am 6' and the main feature that really sold me was that compared to all other cars in its class, the cabin was tall (with sunroof) and the drivers foot well is wide, unlike all other competitors.
