I used to drive a 1997 VW Jetta that I never had a single problem with besides the usual belts and things. Then I got my 04 Jetta, was so excited. THIS CAR IS HORRIBLE. When it works, it was a dream. Quick, good on gas mileage and great looking. Four dealerships and nobody could figure out what was wrong with my car. A new fuse block, crank something, or fuel pump, and I traded this beast and bought a Mazda. The worst thing is the lily trained service techs and VW's utter disregard for customer satisfaction.

Two days after I picked up my Jetta, the battery light was on. I took her in, and was told the alternator was already bad... Four days after that my fuel gauge was screwing up, so I took her on in once more. This time I was told the fuel sender was bad, that was replaced. Currently the low gas light is broken. I haven't gotten around to getting that checked out yet. I love the car and all, but really didn't expect this outta a VW. Owned a 2003 Beetle also, and LOVED it!

One gets all the bang for the buck more than any other sporty sedan $25,000 and under. Just about everything is standard (ABS,traction control,AC,security system, power doors, locks, windows and trunk) Options selected:turbo, tiptronic transmission,ESP,heated leather seats. Turbo 1.8 mated with tiptronic is a blast to drive. Paint and interior are flawless. VW has outdone itself with this model!!!

This car is a money pit and Volkswagen (both the dealership where the car was purchased or the headquarters) does not stand behind their cars. Ours has a cracked manifold which the mechanic said is due the car being a lemon. He said there is not reason for this to happen on a car with only 60K miles and that has had all maintenance performed since day one. This car has been treated very kindly since day one but still one costly problem after the next and all Volkswagen can say is "sorry". Don't buy this car! Buy a Honda or Toyota instead and save yourself the headaches!

I just bought my jetta and so far there is nothing to complain about. the 1.8T engine is incredible. the build quality is great. I looked at hondas and toyotas while shopping for my new car and VW's interior design and solid feel sold me.You must take a good look at a jetta if you are in the market for a small sedan

So far my experiece with this car has been awesome! I come from driving a '02 Saturn, which did not give me the value in return for the care put into it. The Jetta gives the features I want and all the power I could want. Once I start driving I don't feel like getting out. The drive on it almost feels like a V6 even though it's not, the driver's side is very roomy and provides plenty of comfort. Overall, from the day I walked onto the VW lot until now I have had nothing short than a great experience!!

I test looked at the Corolla's, Civic's, Mazda3, Sonata, and the VW Jetta is the best of the bunch. The jetta is a little more $$ then the Corolla, Civic and Mazda3 but it's worth it. Believe me the engines on these Jetta's will go forever. Great gas mileage, nice looks and drives like a charm. Also good resale. I researched this car and it's a great deal. Plus I bought it with their 0% financing promotion.

Overall I enjoy the car, in a market that seems to be geared towards SUV's. The car is fun too drive and performs great. The only thing about the car that I don't like is that it doesn't have a spoiler. But that's just me. It gets excellent gas mileage, and handles well around corners. And even though I just got the 4 it's got some fight in it out of the pocket.

Having previously owned a 2000 BMW 328i, '02 WRX, and '98 Audi A4, I wanted a sedan that had a sporting feel, was powerful, well-built, and had that "German feel" without the huge repair and maintainance costs associated with owning a BMW or Audi. The Jetta GLI VR6 feels and drives like a 95% BMW or Audi at half of the price. Jetta GLI is a perfectly rounded package......

I just graduated college, so I wanted the best bang for my buck without killin myself. All my research (which is what I do for a living!) lead to the GLI. You cannot buy a quicker, meaner car with so much luxury for less that $30,000. Mine was $27,000, completely loaded (spoiler and changer too) which compares nice to $37,000 for a comparable BMW 330i. All power and performance numbers are under reported as I can get 0-60 in 6.9sec vs the reported 7.9sec!

I have had the car for a year. I have had only one problem, the front rotors were replaced (wrapped). Thats it. I have had no electrical problems at all. I do have ratles in the doors though. This car is fun to drive and really holds on the turns. Also, this car's ECU can be reprogrammed to increase the HP. So if your looking for more HP for cheap.. it can be done. Doing this completly changes the car. It's still a beautiful car even today.

I had this car for three years, it had 200,000 miles on it. I like this car but it was in the shop at least every three months for some small things that cost a ton. Heated seats didnt work. Bad headlights. The only good thing about this car is defrosters. The MPG was 21 at best. When it wasnt in the shop it was an reliable car (key word when it wasn't in the shop). Personaly I would not buy this car I have heard that this car is a mechanics best friend because its there all the time. I got to know my mechanic very well because I was there all the time. I got a loan for $5000 when I bought this car I put that much if not more in it to fix the dumb thing. As soon as I paid it off we sold it

We bought the Jetta with 25,000 miles and it has 65,000 now. The only repair was that we replaced the thermostat, otherwise it runs and drives great. Gas mileage is around 24 mpg mixed driving. The build quality is really good and the interior has a lot of room for a compact car. However, the transmission is acting up. It shifts hard and slips on occasion, which at only 65,000 miles is surprising.

VOLKSWAGEN HAS REALLY HIT THE SPOT WITH THIS CAR. I OWN ANOTHER JETTA, BUT THAT ONE CANNOT COMPARE TO THE GLI 1.8T! I WAS HAVING MY CAR SERVICED, AND I COULD NOT HELP BUT TO NOTICE THIS BLUE LAGOON JETTA. I SAID TO MYSELF I HAVE GOTTA BUY THAT CAR; AND I DID! I LOVE THE BLUE LAGOON EXTERIOR, IT IS DIFFERENT, AND THE CAR TURNS HEADS. I MEAN EVERYONE JUST LOOKS, BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING ELSE ON THE ROAD LIKE. I DO NOT DRIVE FAST, BUT IN THIS CAR YOU CANNOT HELP. WITH THE 1.8T ENGINE, IT JUST ZOOMS PAST PEOPLE WHO ARE DROOLING OVER THE CAR. (

I just got this Jetta, my first car to purchase on my own, I recently graduated from college. I love this car. My girlfriend has a 2000 Golf, and I loved the way VW does the interior on their cars, and the sporty exterior. Although I wanted a 300 series BMW or an Acura TL 04, my current budget couldn't handle the payments. I got a great deal on my Jetta, in Campanella White with the GLS trim, and some dealer custom 17" chrome wheels. I'm loving it, since it has that BMW'ish look to it. If you're thinking about getting one, take a test drive and you'll probably drive off on it.

What more could you want in a $25,000 car? It has every option that is available for the Jetta and a custom interior. The ride and handling are superb. The 18" wheels add even more handling and style. The six speed transmission gives you torque and flexibility throughout the gears. The body kit is subtle but sets it apart from other Jettas. With minor modifications, this car can really scream and still get 30 mpg.

I literally had problems with my Spectra from day one and after my accident, I found out the Spectra did not hold it's value at all. I feel confident (and very safe) driving my Jetta. I look forward to my morning commute because I enjoy driving it so much. What a great car!

Car feeling like its gonna die any minute now. No help from Stuart Volkswagen, or Schumacher vw in Wst Palm. Was told that nothing was wrong with car. sent defect notice to manufact. rep. found problem during last fix attempt (what a surprise) after a day without a car...problem is still there. Dont buy this car if you want reliability. Dont be deceived by a great first drive. Problems come after a month! Lemon law is the only way to get answers from dealer.

This is not your usual Jetta. The new GLI is a performer. With its true lowered suspension, 18” BBS wheels and aggressive looks, it’s sure to turn heads everywhere. The New GLI is what VW should have been in the beginning. I owned a 2002 Jetta GLS 1.8T 5 speed Sport Package, let me tell you guys and gals out there thinking of getting a GLI 1.8T. The new GLI 1.8T is like a night and day difference. Since supposedly this is the last year of the MK4 body style, I hope VW has repaired all the bugs. I’m for sure going to enjoy my New GLI 1.8T, thanks VW for finally listening to us.

This car is so awesome. Everything about it except perhaps the gas mileage is amazing. But that's to be expected with a 180 HP Turbo engine! It's so much fun to drive and is very comfortable. Trunk is huge! In fact, they could take away a little trunk space and add it to the rear seats, but other than that, the car is perfect!!!

This car has tons of safety featues that you don't have to pay extra for. They also are a great handling car. VW puts all the metal where it counts for structure rigidity. Unless you are looking to pay for a BMW the VW line offers great products for the money. I have had my Jetta 1.8T for almost ten years and I have not had any real problems with it. They have a great warranty if your worried.

I hate this car it's one of the worst investments I have ever made. I would recommend any one to spend the money and do as I did after problem after problem and buy a Mercedes or BMW
