Excellent car, fun to drive

My only issue with this car was the original mpg rating of 28-33. Never came close, averaging 18-20mpg, albeit most of this was city driving. Love my GTI, but looking for a more fuel efficient ride.

Car unsafe to drive rear control arms rotted out. Spring ready to fall through. V.W. will not repair under warranty.

Bought this GTI in 2014, exactly one year after original owner purchased, with 11k miles. 6 years later, I’ve only accumulated 36k miles, but I couldn’t be more impressed with the long-term quality and reliability of this VW. This is my 7th, and longest owned Volkswagen, at 36 years old. I had some pretty amazing VW examples, including a 2004 Passat W8 4-Motion 6-Speed Manual, and a 2008 Golf R32. This 2013 has some considerable modifications, but was/is every bit as exciting and enjoyable as the two previously mentioned VW MVPs. I love this car, and have not had one minor issue or service visit, outside of standard maintenance. Materials, finishes and initial quality have held up impeccably. Will probably buy an SUV in a couple years, and keep the GTI as a ‘weekend/fun car”. Absolutely no reason to part with it, and I’d be sad to let her go. Fast, confident, solid, reliable, fun, beautiful and just an enjoyable car all around.

Have loved this car since the first drive. Very spirited car, roomy and functional. Once they become available, looking at a 2023 R as a trade up! 11/23: Have ordered a Lapis Blue 6M R. Supposed to arrive Spring 2024. Will be sad to let GTI go but def excited for AWD/315HP.
