Toy car
I have opurchased this as a toy car for the summer. I love it so much that I am in the market for a newer version.
Adorable, fun, reliable, fuel efficient+
Adorable, fun to drive, very quick 5- speed. NEVER in the shop, best fuel economy on the road. Remains a classic run-about bu also with leather, great stereo, heated seats, elec window --features of more expensive cars.
My Cabby
I bought my 1991 VW Cabriolet Eienne Eigler edition just this spring. It had sat for a while. A new set of brakes, tires and an oil change and she runs great. Very sporty and fun to drive not to mention economical.

Most Reliable Car Ever!
I bought this car wanting an inexpensive, fuel efficient yet fun and reliable car. I have had it for over 4 years and it has never broke down on me. It is the most reliable car I've ever owned and I've owned plenty, including new cars. I love this car and it's fun to drive. I drove it across country and had the time of my life. This car has required very low maintenance. Other than replacing the tires and regular oil changes, I haven't been set back at all. It's paid for itself.
Best used car I have ever owned
Purchased car in 2004 with 37,500 original miles on it. From a private owner in Montauk NY. Transported via car Dolly to my winter home in fl where its garage stored when not using. At 59,00 miles on it, had to replace 4 tires not due to improper wear but dry rot from sitting. The VW now has 76,00 miles with no other repairs except a battery and oil changes every 3,000 miles. When traveling on the open road using Cruise control average 40 mph per and Burns no oil. This is the best used car I have ever owned.
Fun Times
Watch out for electrical and mechanical problems in older models. Mine has 150,000 miles and runs great. Love to drive it. Very cozy. No cup holders.
Big fun, little car
The car really surprised me. My father had bought it in early 2006, right before i graduated high school. I thought it was a crappy compact till i got a chance to drive it. It was a blast, surprising speed for a little car like that but probably wouldn't have been as fun if it was an automatic. It handled decently, it even got me out of a few close calls while speeding on the highway but no cup holders and tight interior made her a little uncomfortable but surprisingly enough it had power windows.
A Nice, Fun Car
My 1991 Volkswagen Cabriolet is fun, fun, fun, gets great gas mileage, and has been very comfortable. Prices are going up on these little gems and the TMV price is a bit skwed. Add about $500 for a clean one. All mine has required is oil changes and brakes. I did replace the top but thats to be expected on convertibles that are 15 years old.
super fun, but a project
being that this car sat for 10 or so years and is over 30 years old its honestly amazing how well it runs, the car may have many problems and its incredibly hard to find original parts for common issues, i would still say its worth it for how fun this car really is

1992 Wolfsburg Model a total disaster
This was initially a great, fun, fuel efficient ride. After just 35,000 miles it had a massive coolant leak problem that cost thousands to repair despite the fact that it had been beautifully maintained with regular service at a certified shop. At 45,000 miles, the transmission went. This cost several thousand more dollars to repair. After that, it was all normal service (brakes, pumps, belts, etc). It was fine, if increasingly noisy, for years after this. Despite being garaged its whole life, the exterior pieces started to fall off. Then, the engine imploded on the freeway at 75,000 miles. At this point, we junked it.
Best Car I Have Ever Owned
This is the best car I have ever owned. It has a timeless styling and still gets admiring glances. I will always have a VW convertible. I am meticulous about servicing the car and it has paid off.
Best car I ever had.
I miss it so much, I’m searching for another one.... should have never sold it. I sold it in 2006 for $2200, $200 more than I paid for it and it was in good/fair condition. A guy came to look at it and offered me $1500 for it. I told him to get off my property! $1500??!! This car was my best friend!!
VW Cabriolet 1993
I have seen every one of this workhorse's, my 1993 Volkswagen Cabriolet, 189,000 miles. Now that she's a geriatric, she's gained a bit of an attitude with her reliability, but is still far more dependable than any other car her age and/or with her miles (if you can find one).
1993 VW
great car, fun to drive, a classic, nice car to have in the sunshine state.
Super Duper Cab
This car has been very reliable and I still get 28 to 31 miles per gallon. The cab is fun to drive and I plan to keep it for a long time.
CUTE NOT RELIABLE
I think mine was a lemon, I took great care of this car,but almost everything broke, radiator, hoses, clutch cable(3) pedal assembly, throttle cable. fuel pump relay(2)engine mounts(4)
90 Cabby
Always been fun. Very reliable overall. Simple and quick to repair yourself.
A fun reliable little car!
I bought my Cabriolet in 2006 in semi-decent shape. I did some work to the car to get it decent and the experience with the car has been wonderful. Didn't take too much to fix it up and VWs are usually pretty easy to work on. The car is very reliable as are most from the early 1990s. Many are still on the road, which proves their durability, really. The body will rust off before you'll have problems though, if you live in the north where there is salt. Do the routine maintenance and this car will last you a long time. It is a blast to drive, especially with the top down! Handles like a VW should. 1.8 engine isn't awesome for power, but it's decent and reliable. I get 35 mpg+.
Best friend in car form
I love this car. He's got a name and has never let me down. That being said, you should know how to work on these cars before you get one, or at the very least have a really good friend that knows how to. Both my dad and my brother know a ton about these cars, so I'm in luck. We've never had any huge repairs with this car, but a whole bunch of little ones. I would say ~$800 a year in parts. Pros: Great handling for an older car. Great mpg, and fairly reliable. Very responsive. Cons: Front seats are a little uncomfy, and the car can get cramped, but nothing extreme. Almost 30,000 miles in 3 years and we've never had to replace the clutch or any of that. Seriously, a fantastic car.

get what you paid for
I purchased this car with a newly installed roof. It is in a fair condition with minor cosmatic details. I think I got what I paid for.
Gretel, my tons of fun VW!
This Cabriolet is the first VW that I myself have ever owned, actually the first car that is really mine! And I'm 61! I have been looking for a Cabriolet for several years and when I found this one, I know I paid a little too much and she needs a little work, but I have so much fun driving this car! This car fits me to a T, my hubby, not so much.Thank goodness we can put the top down! I'm planning on keeping my Gretel until the fenders fall off or someone offers me a million for her whichever comes first. ha ha
Low and Slow!!
I'm the third owner with 125k right now. Oil pressure switch gives me a fit sometimes, but she starts every time and still gets looks. My wife loves the little car, and it's definitely a unique one, the last year of the MKI body style!
Fun car ... in the sun ... or anywhere
I have loved my 93 vw ... i should note ... before this i had a 91 vw jetta which i did not (like) ... the only negative i can say about this car is the oil pressure switch is sometimes a hassle - if u get a good vw mechanic - they can take care of it .... as of 2003, i have 173000 miles on it ... and i have never changed the clutch or had any other major problems .... been fun ... and i plan to keep it ... for a long time ...
