Let me preface that I have owned many vehicles with many different domestic and foreign manufacturers and I find the Jetta a good value. VW hasn't had the best historical quality ranking reviews online, however their better than industry warranty for 2019. It's the only car that the more I drive it, the better the gas mileage I get... over 40-45 mph... a great 1st car for my son. We … purchased him in 2019 a new R line. He still drives it with no manufacturer issues other than a chip needing to be replaced. I can say we are satisfied 6 years later & we bought a new 2024 SE for my second son. I offered to swap the 2024 for the 2019 with my first son so he could have the newer car, and he declined. He loves his 2019. So now we have 2 in the family and I'll most likely purchase a 3rd for myself later in the year. Love the sunroof and pleather seats are easy to clean. Local dealer service has been great. Includes 2 years service free of charge. Wish the lower trims had heated steering wheel and rear seats. A little more pep would be nice but it's a give and take, and I prefer the better gas mileage. Having owned a Toyota, Honda, Ford, Chevy, GMC, BMW, etc., in my opinion I don't think this car is lesser a value that other brands and I don't think it's worth paying $2-3000 more to buy a Toyota or Honda. I've never had the experience where I got more money for a trade because it was a Honda or Toyota. The way I see it, if later down the line I have to spend $2-3000 on a repair, I'll call it even, and if I don't, great! I'm ahead. Plus they've been making this body style for a while so the kinks should be worked out. Just my two cents.
