2019 Volkswagen Jetta
I'm a longtime leaser of VW cars (Jettas and Golfs), and the 2019 Jetta is a huge step-up from its predecessors. The added interior space makes the drive much more comfortable than before, and the roomier back seat accommodates my two dogs (one large, the other medium) comfortably. It handles very well, without being too "German" in its steering precision. I have the top premium trim and … the extra cost is well worth all the add-ons: driver safety features, adaptive cruise control, optional driver modes, rear-camera, etc. It's still in the compact class, which makes it great for getting around town and in and out of parking spaces. But it's also excellent on longer drives, where I've averaged over 40 miles per gallon of regular gas. (28 mpg in town.) Even at the top premium level, it's a lot less expensive than, say, a comparably sized Volvo, Audi or BMW. Sure, it's lighter on its feet than those luxury cars, but for my money it's every bit as good. A terrific upgrade and a terrific value.
