Love this Truck, Like a Rock!

2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
11/30/23 Update: this truck has been awesome, minus some trim pieces that seem to have given out (a bronze colored grill slat that decided to come apart, and the bronze trim piece on the steering wheel kept discoloring), the truck has been excellent. Mechanically, the truck has been trouble-free. Currently, have 45K miles on it, still returning on average between 22-24 miles per gallon … on highway with 91 octane and 6.2L V8. The truck is comfortable, A/C cools down and heats up the cabin quickly, tech is good compared to the newer trucks is decent. Will continue to use this truck mostly for highway cruising and carrying various loads for the maintenance of our home. We love this thing and it gets stares everywhere it goes. Wish I could grab the interior of the ‘23 model year truck and put it in ours. It would be a perfect truck!
Update 5/29/23 having owned this truck for almost three years, the truck has been an excellent travel companion. Almost 41K miles, and have not had any issues with the truck. Consistently earned 22-24 miles per gallon the highway, stress free, comfortable, and smooth driving experience. The truck is powerful, and considering its size has all the bells and whistles you would want in a modern vehicle. Yes, compared to the refreshed 2022+ model the truck lacks the screens and interior refinement; but the reliability, and relative low cost of ownership (except for fuel) has been excellent.
November 28, 2022 Update: having owned this truck for almost two years it has been a flawless experience. The vehicle has been excellent in its performance, comfort, and efficiency. Currently have almost 32K miles on the odometer and the truck has been an excellent highway cruiser and household hobby supporter. We routinely achieve about 23-25 on the highway running 91 octane. On a rare occasion have even achieved 26 on the highway. Of course in the city, that’s a whole other matter with about 13-14 miles per gallon.
The truck has been excellent, no electric gremlins, the only defect has been minor, the High Country specific steering wheel trim piece keeps peeling and discoloring. Have replaced it once already and will probably have to do it again. Not sure why this keeps occurring. Never have had any problems with the truck and it’s our companion on commutes to the SF Bay Area.
Older UPDATE: Still love this truck after more than a year of owning it! Truck has been very good to our family and is blast to drive. Yes, it might not have the newly unveiled screen or digital dash of the refreshed ‘22 model year; but the trucks bones are still great. We average about 13-14 in city and about 21-24 on the highway, even on a rare occasion of hitting 26 on the highway. We run premium fuel, that so far has yielded the best results. Knock on wood, we have not had any issues with our truck, and always delivers on what it was designed to do! Love our cherry red tint coat High Country truck!
Older Review: Love this truck, this vehicle has been stellar thus far. Purchased it about a month ago, and have accumulated 1,000+ miles so far. Excellent all around vehicle, second Silverado High Country owned; last one was a 2015 with a 5.3 liter engine. This one, is 6.2 liter engine, very fast and not much of penalty compare to the 5.3.
Very comfortable, a little bumpy of choppy roads due to the 22 inch wheels, the adaptive suspension helps; but it’s a truck not an Escalade. Very happy with fit and finish, yes, the vehicle could afford to have a bigger screen (and the Apple CarPlay appears washed out compared to the high definition in the Home Screen). This is a minor gripe compared to the all functions the truck has.
Average fuel economy has varied close to EPA ratings on highway (primary usage of truck). Currently experimenting with using regular 87 octane compared to 91 octane (highest available in conventional gas stations in California). So far, see no difference in truck performance or fuel economy.
UPDATE: have owned this truck for about 8 months now and it still is a stellar vehicle. Continue to drive it primarily on the highway (average about 22-24 miles per gallon, 91 octane) that’s with cruise control engaged at 70 miles per hour. The truck is quick, torque and power delivery are really smooth. Once and in a blue moon there is some clunking of the transmission (feels between shifts 3-5 gears). Appears to happen most often when the truck is cold and only when it’s downshifting gears. Does not happen all the time.
Apple CarPlay works wirelessly, but it’s connection strength varies by area; typically leave the phone plugged in to avoid issues or static.
Despite the recent redesign that was released about a month ago, I still love how my truck looks, rides, and feels on the open road.
Love this truck, the way it looks, rides, and the overall comfort and visibility on the road.
