Best truck I have ever had

This is my first Toyota, first ever vehicle that was not Ford, Chevy, or Dodge. I bought mine used and have been amazed daily at how really good this truck is. 20 and sometimes more MPG on the highway. 14 to 16 running around town on errands but most of my use requires highway driving. I bought this truck as a grand experiment because I needed a vehicle that could do long mileage and not fail me when I needed it. So far, so good. This is the most comfortable truck I have ever used.

FALLING APART

The cd never worked it eats cd's, never fixed. Immediately after the warranty went out 2 expensive air pumps went out. Toyota is aware of the problem in these trucks, parts to replace are on back order. We are paying 920.00 a month for a truck we can't drive. They have no idea when parts available. The repairs take an hour and truck has been in shop over a week and no idea when parts will be in. Dealership has no compassion for our problems. We thought we would have a dependable vehicle. We have only had 1 year.

Defective water pumps! The originals WILL have to replaced due to defect. Broken driver side leaf spring. Leaking rear differential. Clogged rear differential bleeder. These are some of my issues. The bed bounce at speeds over 60 mph are true. Undriveable. But the worst problem of them all is the rust. Everything! Exhaust frame. Dealership had to coat the frame as recall. Power steering and brake lines leaked from corrosion. I loath this truck. Slap in the face since my first toyota gave me no problems at a quarter million miles. I got hit and it was totaled out. 2002 Toyota Camry. Best quality ever. Made in Canada. I mention this because I honestly believe the reason this thing is such a pos is because it was made in Texas. America makes cheap automobiles. It’s why I went foreign. I can’t believe the difference in quality. Toyota should be ashamed.

Drove my Chevy 1500 for 10 years and I just replaced it with a new Tundra Crew Max Limited w/ 5.7 w/ Navigation and rear DVD. Wow! Went to the dealerships looking to purchase a F-150 Lariat or the Silverado LTZ, and just test drove the Tundra for the fun of it. Wow, what a difference. Felt a bit of guilt for not buying chevy again, but man the power behind the 5.7 makes me grin when I accelerate, and on the freeway the 6spd is smooth and very quiet. Spoiled myelf w/ some extras: navigation w/ bluetooth phone is the deal, sliding rear window nice feature, back up camera for hitching the boat... luxury... like driving a 4x4 lexus w/a bed? Also, the rear seats recline unlike all other trucks!

Almost a tough off-road truck

Bought this hoping to find a rugged, reliable truck that could handle hardcore ranch work - in 4WD most of the time, pulling trailers, hauling a full bed load, running off-road - and the results have been mixed (but better than my previous Silverado and F-250 and my current Dodge Ram 2500). Can't complain about the HP, torque and towing - best I've owned. Have begun to experience reliability problems - not very Toyota-like. Biggest complaint is that the off-road/4WD features are more for show than for utility. I've replaced skid plat twice, bent the hitch, tow hooks are inconvenient, plastic dam gets in the way. If they'd offer a true tough work truck they'd capture the market.
