Cruisin' in the Tundra

2005 Toyota Tundra 2dr Regular Cab 4WD LB (4.7L 8cyl 5A)

I bought this truck to replace my pile of 2002 GMC Denali. Seem very durable and powerful with the v6. I have an automatic and am getting no less than 22 mpg on the freeway at 75 mph with the a/c on. 26 mpg with the a/c off at 60 mph. I had to add a cruise control which was a small engineering marvel since the vehicle is drive by wire. Being a mechanic it was just a sunday in the shop. It looks factory and works great. It could be the reason the gas mileage is so great. I love this truck and will never purchase a Ford or GM product again. I hope it runs 300k. You know how those slant 6 six run for ever.

Great used buy

Purchased truck with 65,500 miles on it and replaced two small dash bulbs and compass, but extended warranty took care of that. Other than that, the dash will rattle a little when cold, but truck is VERY sound. Power is very much still there with the 4.7 V8. I owned a (NEW) 2004 Chevy Suburban 4x4 and had 14 problems within 18 months of purchase. I'll definitely buy another Tundra!

FRAME WILL RUST!!!!

Folks, Toyota trucks have been plagued with frame rust issues! I purchased this truck because Toyota inspected the framed, deemed it ok and then sprayed the frame to prevent any future issues. On 09/07/17 while driving through town, the frame BROKE! The truck thankfully dove into a vacant parking lot. I had the truck towed to the nearest Toyota dealer. They said I was on my own and the bill would be $10,000-$12,000! The only way to get assistance on this is to file a class action law suit. It worked in the past, but takes years and money! Save yourself some trouble, money and heartbreak! DO NOT BY ANY TOYOTA TRUCK!!!

I have owned my Tundra SR5 for about 3 months and I love it. Mostly every one that I know agrees the Tundra has a better external apearence than the Titain and gets better gas milage while having the power and reliability of a Toyota. I can pull my 20 ft camper trailer with out any problems and the interior makes the long rides between vacations enjoyable.

4 years running...

This is a 4 year review. This should give used sales a boost. First, the reliability is superior. At 40,000, no major problems except for regular scheduled maintenance. I mainly use the truck for traveling. I average approx. 16 mpg. The comfort exceeds any truck I have owned previously. Handles a heavy load well. Load the truck up with timber and still rides like an SUV. The transmission is exceptionally smooth. After 4 years, my Tundra has held up well. I would certainly buy one again.
